The Disney owns Fox thread

It is irrelevant how or why they were made, at least they were made. Fox has a large portfolio or R-rated movies and franchises. All of that goes away and becomes at best PG-13 if Disney were to get its claws on them.

Again, you are just assuming something to be a fact when it has not even happened. A business deal is a lot more complicated and then deciding what to do with an acquisition is even more complicated. Hence, most execs just let the new acquisition work as it always has and only pick parts of the pie they actually need. A lot of branches of Disney may actually feel its a blessing in disguise to get some of their edgier content done outside of the Disney label.

I think at the very least Deadpool would get his own Netflix show if Disney got the X-Men back for Marvel. I could also see Disney creating a Marvel Knights or alternate label for R-rated Marvel movies.

Am I? When was the last time Disney did an R-rated movie? They effectively killed off their only studios for that purpose years ago and are concentrating on "kid-friendly" fare only.

I think the wrong message is getting across with all this. Not how Disney wants to buy everything up (Certainly a fear of many, including myself) but how Fox wants out of the entertainment industry altogether.

Thus if this deal falls apart as indications suggest it has, then someone else will come along and purchase Fox's film/TV division.

The sharks will be circling. Disney, Apple, whoever.

I feel like Bezos is watching this whole thing and waiting.

Is it Fox that wants out or the NewsCorp braintrust?

I think it is the Murdochs. Since the apparent WB deal fell through, they seem to think that they can't grow through purchasing, but specializing.

You see, I don't get why they'd want to unload all of their entertainment divisions. Wouldn't some of their TV divisions be even more lucrative than film? Like you would think institutions like Simpsons and Family Guy would keep raking them in money until the end of the universe.

Pretty much all I've seen it has been about growth potential. Easier to grow and maximize profits.

For Sithborg, if NewsCorp unloads, do you think the Fox brands and companies remain intact or get dissolved? Like would FX, Fox channel, etc. continue to exist, like when Vivendi sold Universal to Comcast?

Disney can't buy a broadcast channel. And who knows what wrinkles that throws into the mix.

Frankly, their best bet is talking to someone how already isn't a media giant.

Well why can't they buy a broadcast channel? Comcast was allowed buy multiple broadcast channels.

Is it because they already own ABC they wouldn't be allowed to buy another one?

I should've used a different term. Not channel, but network.

There are 4 major broadcast networks, NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox. Controlling more than one of those 4 would begin to enter anti-trust areas. There are minor channels, sure, which I think Telemundo is, though I'm not entirely sure if that wasn't just a branch of NBC anyway.

Gotcha Sithborg. Makes sense.

What was their last hit R rated property though? At the end of the day, when there is BO of $700M+ to be made worldwide, no exec is gonna kill it off, esp. when they have the chance to produce it under a different banner.

Mouse is getting little too big for my taste.

I'd start looking online for potential buyers.

Fox needs to sell. And they will. Whether Disney does or not. People who know what to do with streaming need to be in charge of these things. Not traditional media workers. They just waste our time and $ we spend on their products.
