The Disney owns Fox thread

The amount of R rated franchises they are getting worries me in this deal. I don’t want to see PG-13 Predator, Alien or Deadpool movies.

Forget about them getting Avatar as well, it’s a bit of a scary prospect so many franchises will be under them.
You’ve already seen a PG-13 Deadpool, Alien and Predator from Fox....

Disney makes awesome Pixar movies, awesome Marvel movies, has brought Star Wars back in a big way.... what are they doing wrong again?

That is true but I am also worried that if they keep getting stuff they are going to have less and less competition to deal with and will end up getting lazy and start to not be has good.

A potential loss of Fox Searchlight would be a true loss to the world of film, though. I hope they allow it to continue.

I believe the Fox divisions will function as is. Disney will have those assets so that they cornered the market on more R rated unique fare. That way, they won't need to change anything for what they're doing with their current brands. It's a win win.

Realize what you're saying here. Disney is becoming more of a monopoly with more power yet you're thinking relatively, it might be all worth it because of some unaltered movies?

Not aimed at you, but if anyone seriously believes this is a good deal they are out of touch with reality and are focusing on the wrong things and not the big picture.

But hey, as long as I get to enjoy my X-Men movies crossed over with Marvel then all is well. Now let me be amused to death!

 Spot on

Fox owns the 60s Batman series right? Does this mean that Batman could pop up on Disney's streaming service? :D

You’ve already seen a PG-13 Deadpool, Alien and Predator from Fox....
We haven't even been given a good Alien movie in decades, so what's the huge issue with that one? It's about time they stop trying with it.

I’m going to personally burn down Disney HQ if this happens.

Marvel fans will have the happiest of Christmases this year.

I am both happy and unhappy with this. Does that make sense?

Besides those listed above^ Aliens, Buffy? What other "Popular entertainment properties" were in Fox's portfolio?
Can someone post a list here? ;)

Does the Fox logo start appearing before Star Wars again?

Done deal. I knew it was too close for them to back down.

Although I check this site daily, I haven’t posted here since 11/6 of last year. But THIS NEWS right here is enough to bring me out of silence. Holy shiz! ?????? This news is pure euphoric brilliance! If we thought the MCU was powerful before, the addition of a newly cast Fantastic Four and The X-Men just destroys ANY limitations of greater and layered storytelling. Imagine: a new STORM finally and properly cast under a fanboy like Kevin Feige! Imagine a serious and deadly Dr. Doom that can go toe-to-toe with Captain Marvel and the Avengers! Imagine a new Reed Richards leading the FF into the Negative Zone (films like Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, etc. have already shown MCU is willing to *go there*)! And imagine a live action SECRET WARS film saga with every hero reunited on one front! The possibilities are beyond endless!! For those of us who have mourned over the mistreatment of Fox’s Marvel characters (for 17 years!) today is a day of effing celebration!!!!

I reiterate, those few fox shares I bought last month bout to blow up.

So can someone explain to me the Department of Justice's grounds for filing suit against the AT&T/Time Warner merger, but not this?

Well Disney isn't buying all of FOX for one thing.

There's been 2 top Alien movies and 1 top Predator one. On the basis of those original films which are among my all time favourites, I'd say they've been in poor hands for a very long time.
