If you're still hooking up the rabbit ears or have one of those little battery powered deals, get the converter box. Yes, this also means you probably were shocked when the horseless carriage came into play, but hey. :o

I'm as ready as I can be..meaning, I didn't have to do anything.

What transition? Why haven't I heard of this?

Wiseman, all analog tv will become useless in the next coming hour, if you have cable or satellite your ok

I have one non cable tv to convert. I went to get the box yesterday (procrastination win!) and realized the rebate card was expired for 3 months. Needless to say I will not be ready. But I don't really use the tv anyway, so it can wait.

It went live last night at like 4am for me.

i think its a waste, with everything going to digital and shutting down analog, we need our old systems just in case for backup

I have Cable

I am ready

BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't have to do a thing!

But some of mt family had to, then again I am in the south hehe.

well the analog space will be used for something, no one's just sure what quite for yet

The only thing that sucks about this is that I can no longer listen to the local NBC affilliate over the car radio. I would always catch the news or Conan if I was out at that time.

Thousands of people are still using an antenna in some form or another. I honestly don't much see the point in conversion to digital only feeds, that seems like it should be a business decision and not a government decision.

The government is affected in a positive way due to the move. :yay:

Why are we switching to DTV?

An important benefit of the switch to all-digital broadcasting is that it will free up parts of the valuable broadcast spectrum for public safety communications (such as police, fire departments, and rescue squads). Also, some of the spectrum will be auctioned to companies that will be able to provide consumers with more advanced wireless services (such as wireless broadband).

Consumers also benefit because digital broadcasting allows stations to offer improved picture and sound quality, and digital is much more efficient than analog. For example, rather than being limited to providing one analog program, a broadcaster is able to offer a super sharp “high definition” (HD) digital program or multiple “standard definition” (SD) digital programs simultaneously through a process called “multicasting.” Multicasting allows broadcast stations to offer several channels of digital programming at the same time, using the same amount of spectrum required for one analog program. So, for example, while a station broadcasting in analog on channel 7 is only able to offer viewers one program, a station broadcasting in digital on channel 7 can offer viewers one digital program on channel 7-1, a second digital program on channel 7-2, a third digital program on channel 7-3, and so on. This means more programming choices for viewers. Further, DTV can provide interactive video and data services that are not possible with analog technology.

I need SuBe to tell me how this digital transition would be easier with the Fair Tax.

I'm fairly positive he's thought that through already

I don't have cable

So what you're saying is that instead of having 400 channels with nothing on, you only have 4 channels with nothing on? Man I feel bad for you

It's not like the conversion is going to make the cable company better, so it's just a waste of time and money

SuBe should just change his name to Fair Tax. Not his screen name, but his real life name.

Like that wrestler dude who changed his name to Warrior, because he got so obsessed with his gimmick

Oh ****, my balls exploded during the transition.
