Superman Returns The Effects of Kryptonite

i was just about to point out that same thing
it was clear that she took out the whole shard of kryptonite
but when he was lifting it, apparently the crystal was still trying to grow
thus breaking the skin of a certain superman
but lets say for a second that essentially kryptonian physiogially
is the same as humans/earthlings
all organs, glands, etc etc
at a time like this it was a do or die situation
could him being able to lift NK be a result of some sort of adrenaline boost
i mean its been said that its been able to cause people
to do some pretty outrageous things
i think there was a story of some woman in newyork actually lifting the back of a car to save her child or something
just a theory

Since SR is based on Donner Supe movies don't you think the effects of kryptonite should have been more similar to I & II? Superman was incapacitated in the first movie even just a few feet away and nearly drowned with the rock around his neck. How was he supposed to even move with a shard in him, let alone lift the massive rock full of kryptonite? Singer should try to remain faithful to all aspects of Donner Superman movies if he wants to have a movie that based on the first two.

i thought that the end of the movie, from when he gets to NK on, was the best.

I'm no smallville fan, but i do like their kryptonite effect. That vein thing is pretty awesome.

In the first movie, wasn't that the first time he was ever exposed to the rock? I mean, here's Superman, so far he has spent his whole life never getting so much as a head cold, and then he gets exposed to a rock that drains him of his powers and can kill him. I would think that he really wouldn't know what to do about the situation at that point. But, in this movie, he knows what the rock feels like, and what it can do. Thus, he can focus on fighting through the pain that the kryponite gives him.

Also, that shard in his side was much smaller than the rock around his neck in STM. He had also been underground for sometime (away from solar engery of the yellow sun) before he was exposed to the rock in STM, but in this movie, he was able to recharge before trying to lift the island.

I look at this Superman as just an older, wiser Superman.

I'm referring to before the stabbing. There's no sign of pain caused by the meteor rock, like you said superman has the will to struggle and fight against, whether it be embedded inthe krypton continent or in lex's pocket. I'm saying the kryptonite doesn't seem to be as deadly to him as lois suggests it is. It sucks his powers away but doesn't seem to cause any pain from what i observed. Even during the stabbing or shiv pulling is the pain from he kryptonite or it cutting through his body?

Well, since Kryptonite is the only thing that can cut through him.....I'd guess it'd be both.

The Kyptonite is what killed him.....it's what made him fall from the sky, made him lay in a hospital bed, and made him take a whoopin'.

It completley weakened him on New Krypton.

Supes, and his son even, kill in this movie though, yes. So I'd have done the same. Killing's no big deal to me if it rids the world of Kal Penn and some other bad guys.

Superman didn't kill anyone, though. And what his son did was self-defense. Tough to call him on it.

Forget fighting skills, i'd just power myself up enough with my will power to blow those humans away with my super breath or heat vision.
:supes: and no I don't know superman or anything about him. I'm here for the free beer.

Well, will power can only do so much.....those guys, they had skills. Fighting skills, which overcame any amount of will power he had. He was outnumbered, outmatched, and the odds were against him. That's all.
