"The End of the Beginning," - Smallville forums memories thread

yea for me the first smallville board i went to was ksite i stumbled upon the site around middle of the first season. There was this other site i went to for news and other stuff, god i dont remember the name but then it disapeared around season 2. So then ksite became my man source.

i have this thing that ive been doing ever since season 4, when i started watching....but i would hold out and not watch the series on tv. It killed me to know what was going on, but it made me build anticipation for it, something to look forward to i guess.....also no commericals...:cwink:

It surprises me how many of you started at season four. While not my favorite seasons (one of my least favorite actually) it had some of the best episodes in the series.

Crusade
Run
Transference
Onyx
Commencement

I absolutely love love LOVE these episodes. :D

to be honest, for me i was very cautious about this show, when it started, and i thought it was just another superboy for the 2k. I didnt think he would evolve into the superman we all know. Thats why i wouldnt give it the time of day. I know i missed out but i made up for it by buying all the seasons on dvd..:woot:

I'd just like to say that SV brought me here for the first time, and am thankful for it

9 years of shooting the shti with you guys has been interesting. And I still don't understnad why some of you love this show as much as you do. To each, their own.

For me, SV has delivered subject matter that I wanted, just not the quality level. Never has. I'm still quite suprised, and still trying to understand how, Smallville has survived to season 10. It has always consistently lacked for me, but not many of you. But I'm also a person who refuses to accept mediocrity, when it could be so easy to make this show qualitatively 'better'. Mainly, I'm tired of the WB cartoons always being better than their live action counterparts. Smallville vs. Superman TAS is the perfect example... if SV had the depth of that cartoon, we would be in a whole different world of Live Action Superman.

The premier was good this year, but I think right now the only reason I'm still watching, is because of the decade of sunk cost (my lost time) into Smallville. I don't like feeling this way, and I'm sure you hardcores out there, don't want me harping on your beloved show... but I wish I was more excited for what is to come, rather than watching because I've already invested so much time into the show. And I am excitd to see where this season goes... but I'm also very wary of Smallville's horrible sense of pacing (over the season).

yea we have all had good and bad times here on the hype, going to miss all that once sv is over. Will be sad when mod decide to end the sv forums.

yea it would be sad once the mods would close this forum and any sv talk would be moved to a single thread over in the tv section of hype.

The Smallville and Superman forums are my favorite forums on this site. Because The Last Son of Krypton ROCKS!

HDNet shows three episodes chronologically every day.

I've been with Smallville since October 16, 2001. And while I definitely dug the series and its take on Superman, I didn't become a die-hard until "Rosetta." From that point on, Tom Welling was my Superman (and I grew up with Christopher Reeve!)

I came to the Hype in the summer of 2004 mainly to help defend people in the old Superman forums who had the nerve to suggest Tom Welling should play Superman (yes, I am a decorated Casting Wars vet.)

Back then, none of us were in this forum. Memory recalls that the SV OGs (ie, Hulk, Pat, Zing, Rene, Trip, etc) were actually frequenters of the Superman forum until we were cast out. In fact, I created the "Official Welling Thread" here because the one we had in the Supes forum was unceremoniously shut down.

Ah, those were the days.

Lately, I don't post here as often. Like most of us, life's changed a lot since the start of the show (and even since I joined the Hype). I've gotten married, moved to a different state, changed jobs several times, had a kid, published a book. I've even had the pleasure to actually meet or talk with people in front of and behind the camera at Smallville. I've even met some of the faces behind the avatars here.

So, for the last six years, this board has definitely been like an online community (our own pre-Facebook/Twitter "social network") and it will be both sad and joyous that day in May when we finally see Tom Welling become Superman. Joyous because, well, Welling as Superman of course. But sad because there'll be no more new episodes to look forward to, but worse still, no more spoilers, news and speculations to come on here and debate about. I don't know the fate of this forum after this season ends, but it'll be hard to see it vanish into the ether.

Currently HD Net only shows one episode at 7:00am.

I think the first thing I ever posted in the SV forum was something along the lines of has Clark told Lana his secret, if so in what episode. I had just bought S1 and 2 at Wal Mart for $20, I think S4 maybe S5 had just came out on DVD and S3 was still full price. So I had only watched S1 and 2 and at the time I wasn't a big enough fan to pay full price for the other seasons. Now SV is my favorite show and my second favorite version of SM only behind STAS. For me SV is also the first time I was able to relate to Clark. I've always been a fan of SM but never really was able to relate to him untill SV. I'll admitt when they said now the final season of SV(or how ever they worded it) at the first of the premier I kinda got choked up and had a tear come to my eye.

yea i know but it would still be sad to see this section go away to the graveyard. But we have had good times for the past few yrs its been here.

I think once the series is over the Actors & Actress thread (such as Tom, Erica, Micheal, Kristen etc..) well be moved to the Celebrities section on the hype. Theirfore keeping the last remnant of Smallville's legacy on the hype alive.

All I care about is the Erica thread. :awesome:

lol, 10 years is a long time, I totally forgot about that thread

will be interesting to see what the mods decide to do with sv boards come the specified period once the show is over that they deem is long enough to close the section and move what ever threads they deem to remind active to new sections.

Really? That must be a recent change then. I used to flip by the channel in the morning, and end up watching a mini-marathon of Smallville! :)

Can't believe that thread hasn't been updated in over three years!
There have been so many more SV hotties in the last three seasons (Zatanna, Cat Grant 1.0, Dinah, Kara, Tess, etc.)
