"The End of the Beginning," - Smallville forums memories thread

As much as I loath Season 4 it's still an enjoyable season. "Run" is still one of my all-time favorite episodes and it's cool seeing Clark have fun playing football.

I had no problem with S4. Like every other season it had it's pros and cons.

Looking back, I don't think season 4 was bad, it was just different. I mean we saw saw great stuff like Clark/Kal-El flying and the arrival of Lois and Bart, but we also saw weird stuff like Lana becoming a witch and sadly, the exploding baby. It was full of stuff that wasn't really done in the first three season, so it felt different to some extent.

Season 4 felt like the longest season for me. Of course it was during my first year of college so that could have been it.

Transference was awesome, as was Onyx.

Lex: "I am the villian of the story!"

Watching Clark/Lionel hit on Martha was super creepy.

Edit: Plus season four gave us Shelby.

I was hooked on the show ever since it was announced. I have never missed an episode. Even got a speeding ticket trying to get home in time to watch (before we had DVR). None of my friends watch the show, so coming here has been a great way to express theories or to blow off steam concerning a bad episode. With the good comes the bad. Defending the show from nitwits who never watched a single episode falls in that category.

Through it all, I have made friends and have also increased the length of my ignore list. The show has been a wonderful part of my "Hype! Life" and I will miss it, but I am glad it gave me an opportunity to meet a bunch of like minded fans/friends.

Watching Clark/Lionel hit on Martha was super creepy.

I think that was Tom's best acting in the series. I really believe that Lionel was doing on those strange things. But the episode really upset me because people closest to him should have easily saw that it wasn't him. They could have at least reacted to him like they did when he was on Red K.

My issue w/ Season 4 is that Clark experienced everything w/o Pete. There was no mention of him like he didn't exist. He seemed waay to depressed and alone for me. I think that's why I like Seasons 8-10 so much because he had the relationship w/ Ollie and has a love interest in Lois.

I was cool w/ the Lana Witch stuff but once she became a super Ninja Witch is when I had to :whatever:.

I joined Smallville late at the second episode of Season 9 in the fall of 2009. But I quickly bought all the DVDs in time for Season 10. But I remember quickly getting into the show and being mega excited for "Absolute Justice". What a great episode for the general superhero fan IMO. I almost peed my pants(literally) in the Season 9 finale seeing a glimpse of the future and the Superman suit!

I don't have as many memories as others because I joined so late. But watching seasons 1-7 particularly has left many happy memories and excitement. As well as some sadness. Lionel's death in Season 7 really moved me.

I have a lot of fond memories of the fun we've had here, from the Casting Wars I, to Casting Wars II (which was really more if a skirmish, if that). :)

I hope they keep the forums open here, at least for a while. I'm sure SV will be still be on-air - whether in reruns, or first-runs - in some countries, for quite some time. The SV community here has always had a core of friendly posters, who are loyal to the show. Of course, there are always the occasional drop-ins who feel the need to visit just to express their latest outrage at something the show did, but they just spice up the joint, really. Our group of unwanted step-children has changed along with the show, but always endured. And let's face it, the show very often gave us a LOT to endure. As a Lana fan, I know from where I speak! :cwink:

I haven't been around here a lot lately, for various reasons, but a lot of you guys are very close to my fannish heart. and I'm glad to know I'll still see you around other arenas.

One last thing, I hope that in retrospect, when (and if) people go back and watch the series, they look at it, with a more thoughtful eye to the overall accomplishment. A 10 year run covers a lot of ground and is practically miraculous in this day and age of television. It boggles the mind a bit when you think of where you were in your life 10 years ago when the premiere first aired. I will watch the show with a lot of fondness and nostalgia, and smile at the good times (and arguments!) we've shared. :supes:

Ya I know I would have never expected half the stuff we seen happen in the show. Like former superman actors on the show, to various dc heroes/villains to have appeared.

Smallville's 10 year run is an astonishing accomplishment that I honestly don't think will ever be forgotten and I feel so very privileged to have been able to live through the experience with the rest of you who i see as my surrogate family .

Only issue I had was the witch plotline stuff.

As I always say was it really much worse then many other Lana plotlines those early seasons. The fact it kept Lana away from Clark(ie angst) made Lana being a witch win in my books.

True I just really hated the witch stuff. And totally sucked they did witchs with magic but then they totally altered mxy when his episode aired week after spell.

True I just really hated the witch stuff.

By no means did I think the witch stuff was good, but It wasn't any worse then Adam Knight or Lana wants to go to Paris stuff from S3. The fact it caused less angst for Clark makes it even better in my books.

Started season 6 which I already had on DVD, I decided to get it on blu-ray. I'm really surprised of how much better it looks. Watching the special on here : Smallville:Big Fans and I can really relate to some of these wierdos. lol

Yea, I'm hoping they release the complete series on bluray after the show is over. I'll be buying that in an instant.

it will probably happen but probably wont to like mid next yr. first will be the dvd/bluray sets around sept as usual. Then a complete set i see happening a bit later.

Usually the complete set comes out when the season DVD arrives. I think it will be August/September. I don't see why they would wait.

Actually just traded in all my season box sets this morning. Close to $70 in Amazon credit for all nine seasons. So they better come out with a complete set on blu-ray. And soon!

I also expect the series set to show up around the same time as Season 10 set.

It'll one of the only sets I'll be spending the money to upgrade from DVD.

As soon as the complete series set is released on Blu-Ray I'll be upgrading my set as well .

Still cant believe the show lasted an entire decade, and also, that I've been a member of SMH!/SHH! for nearly 10 years now

I've been thinking about doing the trade-in thing with Amazon. How was the process? Was it easy? How long did it take for you to get the credit after you shipped the DVDs or Blu-rays?
