I'm sure excited about Snipes too,Sly will most likely be a like a consultant to the new director and providing input and plus I'm sure the other stars will have ideas for their scenes as they film.

God dammit, they did it, they got Seagal! Looksl ike they're going all out with Ex3!

I see Sly is taking flak for saying they believe they can make an action film better than The Raid. I know Hunter will back me up here, hopefully others will too, when I say 90 minutes of summersaults does not an action movie make. It takes great characters, a compelling premise, good pacing and as an option good humour. As damn good as The Raid is, it's no Die Hard, Terminator 2, True Lies, Aliens, Predator, Taken or First Blood.

I agree. Too bad Expendables has none of that anyways

You basically described Fast Six.

Yep, The Raid has a tight concept and some innovative action, but it gets very repetitive and lacks the type of lead character(s) that you can really invest in IMO.

It's got the characters. A good writer and a good director can spin gold out of those odd balls.

Good to hear.

I just felt tired at the end of it. Not the good kind of tired, like Terminator 2 where I've been on a great journey, but just tired from all the jumping around.

Seagal i'm not too excited about, out of all of the old action stars, he is now the most out of shape.

VERY excited for Wesley Snipes though, will be amazing to see Blade back on the big screen.

Not to mention his acting is horrible.

I admit I was not a big fan of the last one, it to me was just not a good movie (just my opinion I wont get into it).. this movie is not helping is cause (for me) by adding this guy..

Perhaps... just perhaps.. if he got sucked out of a plane early on, this movie would be good ;)

The fight at the end was what ruined it for me, it seemed to go on forever, the first 50 minutes or so was very inventive and exciting.

Nobody's excited about Snipes but me?

I've very excited about Snipes. I'm not so excited about this film even though I will go see it. I've been frustrated by both Expendables outings thus far. The concept is so cool but the stories, not to mention the acting, have left a lot to be desired.

That being said I have little doubt about Snipes' in the acting or action department. I wonder if the script will be there to allow him to give a good performance, something that might get people interested to see him in solo projects again. I hope so.

I'm also glad to hear that Steven Seagal is joining the next one. His absence from the franchise just felt odd.

The raid falls short on two fronts, American audiences need an charismatic lead to get behind, laugh with and follow, this same issue happened with the Ong Bak films. Jackie chan side steps this issue with his big personality that is never sidelined.

Secondly they lost sight of their "power levels" imo. How's about instead of the good guy's teaming up against the little man at the end, you have the two bad guys teaming up against the good guy at the end. And when did that guy get so strong... I just shook my head at that entire premise.

At the same time, I suppose this worked fine in TMNT but even that film suffered from this in a way.

Woverine Origins....there's something to be said for enemies putting aside their differences in the end, but it undermines a certain something for me. It would be like Batman and Catwoman teaming up to fight bane...
