US, October 1, 2007 - French filmmakers David Moreau and Xavier Palud have reportedly been booted off their stateside debut, the Lionsgate horror-thriller The Eye, starring Jessica Alba. The film is a remake of the Korean hit.

Fangoria.com reports that the studio has scheduled two weeks of reshoots that will be directed by Patrick Lussier, the director of Dracula 2000 and White Noise: The Light, instead of Moreau and Palud.

The site adds, "This situation seems either ironic or appropriate, given that The Eye is a remake of the popular Asian chiller by the Pang Brothers—who were removed from their Hollywood debut, The Messengers, which had new footage guided by Eduardo Rodriguez."

The Eye will open (pun intended) February 1, 2008.

This is old, its from back in early August....they've already done the reshoots...

Oh, guess IGN was late, i figured these must be new re shoots, seems odd to bring in a guy with 2 dreadful movies under his belt to do the re-shoots though, any idea what the studio didn't like about the Moreau and Palud cut ?

Maybe the studio is looking for a certain rating for the film and the directors didn't wanna go along with the studio on it?

From what I've read it was more for editing purposes, and I don't know that there was a fallout, I think thats the media more than what actually happened....

The Eye Trailer When?
Well, we have heard rumblings through the crypt that Lionsgate is attaching their first look at The Eye, starring Jessica Alba, to prints of Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? which opens this Friday. There is the potential that the trailer will be pulled due to scheduling changes (it moved to February 1st) and reshoots. At the moment, however, its due to hit multiplexes this week.
