I think it was more due to wanting to hide the cameos and surprises as long as possible since the trailers gave away A TON.
You have to remember most of the previous Fast movies are fairly beloved by critics. The last one in the series to get a Rotten on the RT meter was the fourth film, and that was in 2009. 10 years ago. All the subsequent ones got fairly good reviews.
I think you might be right because if i was a studio exec and this was screened to me i would be thinking we’ve got a bonafide four quadrant hit on our hands. But i yeah i guess they wanted to conceal the surprises.
