Some of my fellow posters looking forward to the film does not bother me but I don't get why anyone is looking forward to the film at this point. I mean if the reviews are decent I understand giving it a shot but from what we know and see it doesn't look like a decent film to me. It's just one of those things that I just don't get. I mean it looks really bad to me.

Not speaking for everyone, as I'm sure there are people who are genuinely excited for the film, but some of the people that are claiming to be excited I feel just want to like it to spite "Marvel Studios fans", thinking they are unfairly judging the film, and trying to prove a point, rather than a conscious excitement for the project.

Listen I'm sure there are some who are looking forward to it for that reason just like there are some who say that the upcoming DC films look bad because they are trying to
be loyal to Marvel. I think there are "give the rights back to Marvel" people who would have said that FF looked awful even if it didn't (it does look bad). That kind of silliness exists on all sides and it's ridiculous no matter who does it.

Well of course those kinds of individuals exist in all spectrums of the fence, but I was specifically trying to explain your bewilderment towards some people's fervent excitement for the film, despite many of the bad signs.

Looking round it seems that the Premiere is on the 4th as well as the early screenings (not sure when the press screenings are). Two days seems a pretty short window, aren't Premieres normally a good week before? Hard not to see it as Fox trying to hide it.

It will be out in New Zealand on July 30, so at the very least, we'll be seeing some reports by then.

Mission impossible has had reviews out for a while, so if they follow that pattern, we could see something very soon.

But I'm sure they're not proud of this, so I don't think we'll hear much until it comes out in New Zealand.

To get a sense for how little faith Fox has in this, look at how they're 'hiding it in plain sight' now.

We've seen 10 bazillion clips for this film . . . how many of those have featured more than a second or two of actual dialogue/character interaction?

We've been told one of the best elements of this film is the talented cast. Why haven't we seen that cast actually acting, interacting, creating dramatic moments?

The fact that they will only show extremely short clips edited so we can't actually see anything happening in any of them is very telling.

If they showed us anything longer than what we've seen other people may come to the conclusion that those of us in the know already understand - this isn't a film about the Fantastic Four, it's a film about Josh Trank's moobs.

There's not a big market for moob films, so the people involved are hiding that fact as long as they can.

Yeah I have no idea if its common practice or not, it just seemed strange to see a mention of "Reviewing Press" in a screening that will be only 24hrs before the US release (and after a lot of the world get to see it). Do the local press get their preview after the nationals? It would seem strange to me to bother doing two separate screenings since reviews are embargoed anyway. Its like the Premiere is on the 4th, which seems to be a very short time before release, I thought Premieres usually happened the week before (sometimes longer).

I couldn't believe my eyes! In the regular thread, I actually saw a couple of the supporters express hope that they might CHANGE THE THING'S VOICE! Holy crap!!! I didn't think there was anything they weren't on board with. I don't know what's happening. Keep me away from sharp things!!

2 weeks till this turkey comes out.

August 7th will replace Thanksgiving as the new official turkey day!

I had a dream that I saw this movie (obviously can't have been in theatres because I'm not going) and Thing had a typical gruff and deep voice like you'd expect. Of course, it was definitely a dream because that's not happening.

It's amazing that, outside of a second in the 20th or so tv spot, we haven't heard one of the main characters SPEAK.

Why would they change the voice?

The marketing revolves around "you are a racist if you don't want MBJ as Johnny Storm"

From time to time the production brings up the subject despite no one on the internet caring about it anymore.

I know, right? Thing's voice is the best joke in the movie!

I mean they had a checklist of things to do to annoy the fanbase and ruining the Thing's voice was one of them, so why would they erase something from their checklist that they have already checked off?

At this point, people are mostly ridiculing The Thing and Doom.

Short runtime
Shotty special effects
Substantial reshoots with continuity errors
Press screening just one day prior to the film's release

Yeeeeeeah. Sounds like all the right ingredients for a ****** recipe.

We really do need to focus more on Reed "I-Can-Only-Stretch-My-Arms" Richards, Sue "Hyper-Intelligent" Storm, Johnny "I-Bounce-On-Chairs" Storm, and Agent Mole.

Oh **** really?

Oh man! That's it folks. Game over man, game over. We've hit the iceberg and it's only a matter of time before the ship starts sinking.

I'm probably misinterpreting Orba's post near the top of the page. There's a press screening on the 6th. In hindsight, it's probably not the only one.

Either way, you could substitute that last point with any number of others.

- Bizarre marketing strategy with obscure promotional partners
- Poor tracking on social media websites
- Director and screenwriter acting super defensive towards nearly every facet of this production
- Director and screenwriter flat-out contradicting their own past statements

I could go on.

I'll be shocked if there isn't a review embargo up to August 6th. Not always a final nail in the coffin, but usually a cause for concern.
