O...kay? I might be misremembering? What'd he say?

Yeah. That's what I took from it. He said something along the lines of being taken in by Dr. Storm, there's no reference to Victor's past and he's almost part of the family or words to that effect.

Well that doesn't that bad now. It is terrible that Sue is adopted so, yes, Doom is almost as much of a Storm as she is then, but I have been angry already for that, I collected that check, this one is just an asterisk to that F-up.

That's...that's what I said.

The "unofficial" third Storm sibling.

Meaning he didn't literally adopt Domashev, he just acts like a father to him.

Which sucks.
That isn't how that works. I have seen no indication that he raises Doom at all. That he grows up in their house, raised by them. This isn't a Tom Hagen situation which is exactly what you are implying it is. Who cares if he knows the family and is close to them? That is a thing that "sucks". Come on.

Literally didn't say he did. The fact that he has an amicable relationship with them at all is what sucks.

Comic book, 616 Doom would give less than a damn about what the Storm family does or does not do, and certainly wouldn't let their father take him under his wing at any point in his life.

It wouldn't break the movie by itself, but it's yet another annoyance we can add to a very long list of annoyances.

And I say this is a nitpick. Plenty to complain about when it comes to this film. This isn't even in the top 50.

Not sure if this has been brought up by now, but Fox apparently thinks a Gambit movie requires a $150 million dollar budget.
Remind me again what FF's budget was before the reshoots? And there are people who still aren't convinced this is a rights grab?

They might be saving some money on that thing though. Tatum leaving after having that presence at ComicCon is REALLY embarrassing for FOX.

There are so many things I'd do for 250 bucks and McDonald's coupons...

I'll agree to that. Fox need to do everything in their power to keep Tatum onboard, especially now with the FFiasco ready to bomb.

I guess it's a bit of a...GAMBIT...for Fox at this moment in time

Huh??

HUH??!

Just when things for the most part were looking rosy for Fox going into this year with their Marvel properties, things are looking to crumble. Singer and Jackman are ready to exit the X franchise, Tatum is leaving Gambit, and Fantastic Four has just been a PR nightmare. Things are not picking up for them. They'll need to start thinking about what to do after Singer leaves.

Sell back the FF and merge the post-DOFP timeline with the MCU?

I see the former possibly happening. The latter will never happen. Marvel will not do a merger of a pre-existing universe fit into their universe. If Xmen is to be featured in the MCU, they'll be rebooted. The fact they decided to reboot Spiderman again rather than try and merge the Raimi or Web universes into the MCU is proof enough they want their own stamp on these characters.

There is a lot of chicken littles in this thread at the moment.

Hugh Jackman still has one more film that hasnt even begun production. Bryan Singer has left before and came back. So ye may return to the franchise some day. Mathew Vaughn has already proven that Singer isnt the only person who can deliver a good xmen film so even if Singer never returns he isnt the only person who can deliver an enjoyable Xmen film. So no the XMen franchise is not in jeperdy atm.

Tatum exiting Gambit isnt some deathblow for the film. Its Channing Tatum for god's sake. He isnt irreplaceable.

F4 bombing isnt some deathblow for Fox. It wont even make them desparate. Remember that they only made this film in the first place to retain the rights. If they hadnt needed to do that this franchise would still probably be chilling on the shelf. And Im willing to bet the shelf is exactly where they will stick this franchise when this film bombs. They stuck it on the shelf for nearly a decade once and it didnt hurt their bottom line in the slightest. They can do it again. There is no incentive for them to sell. Financially they arent even close to the dire situation that Sony had been in for consecutive years.

Fox isnt some two bit desparate studio near bankruptcy. They are gonna be just fine regardless of this bombing and Tatum exiting Gambit which truth be told is probably a blessing in disguise.

Got this from someone on another site LOL!

"Hugh Jackman leaving Wolverine
Channing Tatum leaving Gambit
Apocalypse a purple Smurf
Fantastic Four Shaping up to be the crap I said it was.

Maybe they'll reach a Sony-type deal after Jackman leaves. This is assuming that Tatum decides to leave. If he stays on board then the X-Men will probably stay at Fox.

X-men is staying at Fox whether he leaves or not. Tatum isnt going to be the determing factor.

Still, it'll lead to Gambit being canceled like X-Force was.

Unless they recast the roll which shouldn't be difficult. Even if they cancel Gambit, thats not anything thats going to make them desparate enough to sell.

How the hell does his piss?

The Trank phenomenon. It's an anomaly of nature.

Truth be told, once this thing flops, I hope Fox give the rights back in exchange for however much money Channing Tatum wants. Fox won't turn a profit with this but if they're willing to accept a billion or two, they'll have made more money than they would have if this were a hit. It's a reboot to a failed IP and much like Robocop and The Incredible Hulk which means it had a $400M ceiling which means that if this film were successful, Fox would have only received $200M max.

I was expecting this film to be serviceable and able to be fixed in a sequel but if it isn't even being screened for critics, then it's going to be about as bad as Bio-Dome. Trank ruining their film actually gets Fox a bigger pay day. They get to keep making their Gambit film, they get an X-Men TV show and Marvel are now paying up to market Fox's films. It's actually a blessing in disguise for both everyone involved... unless you're Stan Lee, John Byrne, Mark Waid and Jonathan Hickman, in which case, you'll cry yourself to sleep while Jack Kirby and Mike Wieringo roll over in their graves.
