The FFINO ZONE

I'll be shocked if there isn't a review embargo up to August 6th. Not always a final nail in the coffin, but usually a cause for concern.

I've been expecting it since the first trailer.

So FFINO is only 100 minutes. That's slightly shorter than the Tim Story 2005 FF movie, and only slightly longer than FF: ROTSS. And even FF (2005) felt short.

Not that we would want Trank to stretch out this turd for too long.

Is it really only 100 minutes? I ask with skepticism because I have seen people on here incorrectly report movie times.

There was someone on Twitter who said their pass or whatever had the runtime as 100 minutes. Maybe 101.

They'll find a way to spin it into "We did it because we want to harken back to a time when critics didn't spoil things and make up the public's minds before they saw the movie. It's all for the audience! #truth"

First search on google is 1 hour and 46 minutes or 106 minutes. Take out the typical 8-9 minutes of credits and a possible stinger then you have a movie that is less than 100 minutes.

Ah that must be what I was thinking of then.

I dunno. It says on Wikipedia it's 100 minutes.

Well that would be even worse, then you have essentially a 90 minute movie which spends the first half just getting to Planet Zero, probably another 25 minutes dealing with their powers, 15 minutes to fight Doom and a 5 minute wrap up.

I don't really even expect a fight with Doom to last 15 minutes. It might build up to that for 15 minutes, but the actual fight is probably going to be less than 5. The one in FF (2005) was only about that where they all took him on at once.

I also mean the set up, which will probably be Doom setting off something on Planet Zero that threatens Earth, specifically NY based on the trailers and then they have to go back against the wishes of the military to fight Doom. I do agree the fight will be 5 or so minutes which should at least be better than the "What happens when you supercool hot metal?"

You couple the run time with the trailers and spots that have pretty bland to bad dialogue, even if this thing manages a decent ow, the drop off is going to be a steep one. It eerily reminds me of the Rothman era of Fox films.

Heck, at this point, I don't know if Fox has truly got a grasp of their comic book properties. All their good ones were directed by Singer and Vaughn, Deadpool and The Wolverine films beyond Origins are really passion projects from the leads. Aside from that, the rest have been stinkers.

It just hit me how much this is looking so much like another Green Lantern situation. I always knew that but it's just hit me harder right at this moment.

It reminds me of 2006 with Superman Returns and X-Men: The Last Stand. Just remember hearing things and seeing trailers that just lowered your expectations. And even with those expectations, you held out some hope that it was still going to be better and there just rumors.....

I'm comparing it to Green Lantern because I think there is a good chance that it's reviews will be as bad as GL's and I think it's box office has a good chance of being closer to GL's than those films.

You know the saying, fool me once...

As far as the final fight and how the movie is structured, most damning to me is the soundtrack listing:

"1. Fantastic Four Prelude
2. Transporting the Car
3. Science Fair
4. Arriving in the City
5. Boardroom, Baxter’s Lab
6. Reed Enters the Lab
7. Meeting Victor
8. Johnny In the Lab
9. Building the Shuttle
10. Elder Arrives
11. Neil Armstrong
12. Quantum Shuttle
13. First Footprints
14. Planet Zero Escape
15. Elder and Storm, Ben’s Drop
16. Real World Applications
17. Elder Pressures Storm
18. Looking For Reed
19. Ben’s Mission, Finding Reed
20. Storm Talks With Johnny
21. Return to Planet Zero
22. Victor’s Wake
23. In Pursuit of Victor
24. Confrontation
25. End Titles"

Domashev is apparently out of action from around Track 14 to Track 22. He's apparently strapped to a TABLE for what? A third of the movie? And then they go from him getting back to Planet Zero, them following him, fighting him, beating him, and the end credits in...what? 15 minutes? 20 at the MOST?

That's bad. Really bad.

How come there's no accompanying blogging music?
