Trank must have been involved an incident similar to the mangina scene in "Step Brothers". He was on stage performing in a high school talent show when some guy in a classic Fantastic Four tee shirt yells out from the audience "Josh has moobs!"

Trank runs of the stage in shame, tearily repeating to himself "I'll show him. I'll destroy something he loves! I can't help that I have gynecomastia!"

A few videos from the cast and crew with some interesting information

https://www.youtube.com/user/flickeringmyth/videos

Sue and Victor were both orphans that were found by Franklin at a young age (but Victor is "broken"), Sue comes from Kosovo.

Sounds like my theory is right and they changed Ben's size and history so that he basically wants the power he gets, he wants to be big and strong and tough. Kate Mara also says that her powers are "very specific" which again make me think I am right in that they intend to have it that with all four characters there is some sort of psychological reason behind the powers they all get, that in some way each kind of wants the powers they each get.

:funny:

Guess the whole "unofficial" Storm sibling was a bit more literal than previously though.

[YT]watch?v=4e1jG3paNqI[/YT]

Cannot believe they've screwed up DOOM, TWICE.

Joseph Culp knew that one day he would be appreciated.

At LEAST he tried, and looked super awesome for the budget they had.

Better than green energy garbage blogger.

The villain is the only character that doesn't hate his powers.

So basically Johnny and Victor are as much siblings as Johnny and Sue are?!

Just when you think this thing can't suck any harder, it sucks a bowling ball through a garden hose.

:cmad:
Eh, to be fair, I wouldn't go that far. They've specifically used the word "adopted" in the case of Sue, and that she was "very young." And they've always referred to Dr. Storm as her "father."

With Victor all they don't use the same language. Kinberg says, "Victor is the sort of case study gone wrong. Victor is the student who was a wayward kid, a troubled kid, a broken home kid, a kid that lost his parents. With a brilliant genius off the charts level IQ. And Dr. Storm found him in an orphanage and brought him to New York and helped him direct his genius into, you know, productive projects."

It sounds like Storm is a father/mentor figure to Victor, whereas he's an actual father to Sue.

*Sigh* Right from the start we said that having Sue be adopted was crap because bad writers can't help themselves and have to waste time in the film explaining things. Well with this 'Kosovo' thing I would say that not only will the adoption thing not be a minor thing that is brushed over I would say that it will probably be a major character arc for Sue.

With this new information Sue is not only adopted she is from Kosovo, and with an upper age limit of maybe 20 by the end of the film could have been born as early as 1995. So we could be looking at her being born about 1995 in Kosovo, in otherwords smack in the middle of the rather violent break up of Yugoslavia (around 1990-2000). Lets face it thats not something they have done by accident, they want Sue to have been born in the middle of a war. The Kosovo War for example was 1998-1999, thousands were killed. We know that Franklin found her very young, I'm going to guess they are going to go with the cliche that he found her amoung the ruins of her families home. I'd even go as far as to say that he was friends with Sue's parents and he was on his way to get them to safety but he just didn't manage to get there in time.:whatever:

So what will that mean for Sue, well my theory is that they all in some way want the powers that they get, Ben wants to be big, tough and strong, Reed wants to have been able to reach and save Victor, etc. Well for Sue her childhood experiences have left her scarred, I'm going to guess that her last memories of her parents are them telling her to "hide" before the soldiers came and killed them, and its left a lasting effect. Deep down she has a natural instinct to want to hide (and yes I know these ideas are all really hack writing).

Now certainly its possible that Sue's family could have originally been from Kosovo and then moved to the US to escape the fighting only to be killed in a car crash, but then if they were really going to do that the whole Kosovo bit would be completely unnecessary to the story.

Also IMDB mentions casting for Chechen rebel, Ukrainian rebel, etc so they are going to be used in warzones, I think we might see Sue having a flashback during one of those after seeing a little kid amoung the rubble.

So yeah I don't think Sue's adoption will be a little thing that gets brushed over, its going to be a massive thing that they linger on through the whole film. First 'Bullied Ben' now 'War orphan Sue'.

You know I am the type that is really open to changes and I'm not even a huge fan of the Fantastic Four but these changes are just...bizarre. The changes seem try-hardy and not organic.

It could be that instead of a flashback for Sue, we get an early scene showing Sue in Kosovo, just like we have scenes with young Reed and Ben. And surely Johnny will be hanging out there too, either lighting a fire, or fascinated by something that's on fire.

And don't forget that Domashev wants better internet skills. That's how his powers make him D00M. :o

The flashback will mirror the flashback from Pacific Rim where Pentecost saves young Mori from the Kaiju --- only it will be Dr. Storm saving Sue from the evil orphanage headmistress.

Every time I hear something about this that I hate---I think that maybe that is the end of the stupidity.........

......and every time they prove to me there is no end to the stupidity.

Kosovo?

Another thing that has me baffled is the run time. Two theater chains are saying 105 minutes....One is saying 100 minutes.

The Alberta film board is saying 100, as is Wikipedia, IMDB says 106.

And the only one I would trust, the British Film Board hasn't classified it yet.
I have been following the British Board for YEARS and never, NEVER has a movie opening in 8 days not been classified!!!

Sometimes they classify them as early as 5 weeks ahead and the LATEST I have ever seen before was 2 full weeks. But again today they have not classified it. So if they do so tomorrow it will be just 7 days before the premiere!

Hell, they are even hiding the movie from the ratings boards!!!!

"And now for the odd news story of the day....a man working for our own British Film Board ratings dept. became violently ill while classifying a movie today. But strangely, he blames it not on any ailment or illness but actually on the movie he was viewing. One can only imagine it may have been a particularly graphic film to elicit such a response from what is said to be a veteran Board employee."

No, it just happens he was a lifelong Fantastic Four Fan.

I'm really wanting to see the BBFC report also, it give time to the second plus says if there were any cuts.

Sue as a war orphan I can kind of get behind in that it seems to fit with the premise of this movie, which seems to be a (supposedly) character driven coming of age type of story where each character has an "issue" that they will be forced to deal with as a result of the accident.

Is that the sort of FF movie people want? Not really. But does this change to Sue make sense given the movie they're making? Yeah I can see it.

This really is becoming like that movie "Wag the Dog" where there was a fake production going on to deflect attention away from a Presidential scandal.

In that movie they also had some "war orphan refugee" (played by Kirsten Dunst) who was filmed in front of a green screen and then placed in front of some war footage. Sue is now the equivalent of that "orphan".

Yeah, except of course 90% of the people in Kosovo are dark-eyed, dark-haired, Moslems except for the 10% Serbian minority who live in one small section of the country and who were not refugees to any large extent during the war.

so once again it becomes this WTF moment where we are going to get this little info about her being a Kosovo refugee and it will make no sense without further explanation which we probably won't get.

And once again, needless changes that add nothing, detract some and don't give the majority of fans what they wanted, but what some idiot writer who just made up his own story wanted.

But the assumption, clearly, is that no-one in 'Murica knows or cares anything about the Balkan conflict.

They look excited....

Which is something that I'm not happy about. IMO, they should have just said that Sue was adopted and then left it at that. Who these characters were before they became the FF isn't anywhere near as fun or interesting as they were after obtaining superpowers.

Its like with Ben Grimm, it "seemed more interesting" as far as Kinberg and Trank are concerned.

This is how I feel. I keep thinking "it can't get worse". Then, sure enough, it gets worse.

I was fine with the idea of Sue being adopted because I thought she was simply adopted. Dr. and Mrs. storm adopted her as a baby then had a son a few years later. The two of them grew up playing and fighting and being two ordinary siblings. Who cares if she isn't his biological sister?

But now they pull this crap. So Sue and Victor will be acquisitions. "Hyper intelligent" subjects for Storm's little Baxter project.

Fantastic Four was great because it featured relatively ordinary people with extraordinary powers involved in amazing adventures. But they always felt real to us because the characters felt real.

What happened to "grounded and gritty"? This whole thing is crap on top of crap on top of crap.

Unbelievable.

They look excited....

:funny:

Jamie's facepalm sums it up for me.

Ben looks like he's crushed by the revolting development at discovering he has no thing. :o
You know how whenever there's a really terrible movie there's usually that ONE actor in it who -- based on their performance -- you can just tell figured out on day one of production that they'd stepped into a mess and were embarrassed to be there? I think that's gonna be Jamie in FFINO. (Kebbell too but I think he's going to hide it better).

The wise heads on imdb believe that the "whining" over this movie is due to racism. I would be interested to collect further views on this.
