The Flash TV Show?

I'm so excited about this! The old Flash TV series is still one of my favorites (watched an episode yesterday even).

I just hope CW spends some money on it. Their shows tend to look dark and cheap. A Flash show needs to be bright. Think CSI Miami or Hawaii 5.0 type cinematography. And the police science has to look good.

The Flash is a pretty good idea for a show: they already know the powers are doable on a TV budget: the previous show was pretty good for its time, and still holds up well in some ways.

And as the above posters mentioned, it has all the trappings of both a cop show, a medical show, a medical examiner's show and science fiction, all rolled into one. And while the Flash is quite powerful, particularly in the comics, his powers aren't the kind that would lead the general audience to keep asking, "well why doesn't he do this and that to solve every problem?".

The freshman season is all about finding one's voice. Never take what show runners say seriously because after a year or several years you are likely to see a change to major change. For example - in recent years - angels were never supposed to be seen on 'Supernatural,' now they're everywhere.

Good point. This TV series could speed up the Justice League timeline by making a Flash movie unnecessary (I know people want a Flash movie, but come on, it takes DC/Warner a million years to move on any project that isn't Batman, I'll be dead of old age by the time they have enough solo films to build a JLA franchise on).

I meant at the time the majority of public perception of comic books was even more a "it's for kids" attitude than today where it is more accepted they are also written for adults. Sure, there was Batman and Batman Returns but they still seemed out of place to the public's mind of comics.

this is a BIG NO for me. I mean still watch, but Flash, Arrow, WW are integral parts in the Justice League. how will they show a JL movie, plus have a TV version of three major chracters?? That was the biggest problem with Smallville and Superman Returns

Supposing the The Flash from TV is in the DCCU continuity, that's the least of my worries. A hypothetical JLA film (very hypothetical right now IMO, Henry Cavill might have to play Kingdom Come Superman at the efficiency that WB is moving) would likely play over the summer, which is when a TV show traditionally goes on break.

So the break between season X and season y of the Flash could be set before and after the JLA movie.

Yeah, I don't see the problem. The more Flash, or any other character on the big and small screen the better.

For some reason, I doubt they're going to try and link up this show and the Man of Steel universe...unless I glossed over that in articles. For that reason, I'm against this show. If the first season is a hit, Warner Bros is going to get too comfortable. Warner Bros needs to get off their asses and churn out some films. It's obviously that the only reason Batman is going to be in the next Superman film is to compete with Marvel. Shift that initiative to expanding the film universe.

UPDATED: The Flash will appear in three episodes of the CW&#8216;s Arrow this coming season before headlining his own spinoff series. The information was shared this afternoon by the three writers &#8211; Arrow co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and series scribe Geoff Johns &#8212; behind the Flash project. an origin story of Flash&#8217;s Barry Allen identity. The episodes, No. 8, No. 9 and No. 20, will be penned by the trio, with David Nutter, who helmed the Arrow pilot, committed to directing Episode 20. Kriesberg also confirmed during the conference call today that the actor who portrays Barry Allen will play him as &#8220;an ordinary man&#8221; when viewers meet him in Episode 8. &#8220;The character will be as grounded and realistic as possible,&#8221; he said. &#8220;That&#8217;s how we&#8217;ll get to know him. Then his life will get a bit faster.&#8221; He added that the surrounding characters in Arrow will react to Allen &#8220;in a very realistic way,&#8221; noting that they &#8220;won&#8217;t be treated as commonplace on the show but as extraordinary events.&#8221; Kreisberg added: &#8220;It will be fun for the audience to see how we do our take on The Flash&#8217;s powers. Some will feel very familiar to those who know the comics, and other stuff will feel different yet fresh and exciting.&#8221; Berlanti noted, &#8220;That said, he does need powers to become The Flash. And he will be The Flash. He will wear a red costume, and he will go by that name.&#8221;

In replying to a question of why embark on a series about The Flash rather than any of the other Justice League superhero characters, Kreisberg cited the fact he was Berlanti&#8217;s favorite character growing up. &#8220;There&#8217;s something very relatable about Barry. He got his powers by accident, they just sort of came to him&#8230;He also isn&#8217;t a dark and tortured soul.&#8221; Added Berlanti at TCA earlier in the day, &#8220;We think it fits well both in terms of (Arrow) and (as a stand-alone series).&#8221; He added that there&#8217;s a wide belief that Flash fits better as a television spinoff than would other characters in the DC Comics universe.

The next step is to &#8220;write a great script and find an amazing actor to play the part,&#8221; Kreisberg said. Casting on the role will begin this week, with casting director David Rapaport, who cast Arrow, also working on The Flash. Kreisberg also stressed that great pains will be taken to have the effects and overall tone of the forthcoming series comprise something &#8220;fresh and new and exciting, and give people a real cinematic experience in TV the same way they&#8217;ve gotten it from Arrow.&#8221;

i would rather see The Flash origins portrayed on the big screen......................... FOR THE FIRST TIME............ The Flash never appeared in theatres..... it could easily be the next Spiderman type movie.... WB has no faith in their heroes, geez, even Thor has his own movie
