Blu-ray Sales Up 91%
A recent report from the Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) shows that sales of Blu-ray titles during the first six months of the year are up 91% - to $407M - compared to the first half of 2008. The increase in title sales has also affected sales of Blu-ray players, which are up 25% from the same period last year to 2M units.

Ron Sanders, President of Warner Home Video and the DEG, commented, "Despite an extraordinarily challenging marketplace, the home entertainment sector continues to be remarkably stable overall, particularly with the growth of higher-margin businesses like Blu-ray Disc..."

Sanders also noted that studio operating profits have sustained minimal downturn during these hard economical times due to the greater revenue generated by Blu-ray sales versus standard DVD.

You can get Ghostbusters for $9.99 on Amazon.com again. Just remember to put in the code GHOSTBLU.

Great deal, anyone who hasn't picked it up definitely should at that price.

I wish I would have waited, I got it at $13. Still not bad, but man! lol.

Also, supposedly next week Punisher: War Zone will be $9.99 at Target and some are reporting getting a $5 coupon in a Target ad in the mail which would make it $4.99 if you had that coupon.

hey, does anyone here have the first season of terminator- the sarah connor chronicles?

i saw it in this store today and it's super cheap... what's the picture quality like?

Heard the picture quality is pretty good. But like alot of WB releases back then they only gave it Dolby Digital audio so a letdown if you are setup for HD audio.

Star Trek Blu-ray Gets November Date, Augmented Reality
Paramount Home Entertainment has set November 17 as the release date of the movie 'Star Trek' on Blu-ray, day-and-date with the DVD. This will be a three-disc set, and apart from other usual features, it will include a very novel one called “augmented reality,” allowing buyers to tour the Enterprise and even shoot enemies from the ship's deck, after holding the disc packaging in front of a webcam.

An early version of the feature can be accessed at the Experience the Enterprise Web site.

For the disc release, Paramount will include a visual icon inside the packaging that, when held in front of the webcam, will unlock a more immersive experience. Users will have to log in to a Web site to access the feature, but they control the hologram by holding the disc packaging.

Other extras include deleted scenes, a BD Live feature that connects viewers to live updates from space through NASA, and the Star Fleet Vessel Simulator, which offers a 360-degree view of the Enterprise and other ships.

Clerks, Chasing Amy on Blu-ray in November
Kevin Smith has revealed that two of his earlier movies, 'Clerks' and 'Chasing Amy', will be released on Blu-ray in November. 'Clerks' (in Smith's own words, "the BD no-one expected") will contain all the bonus features included in the 'Clerks X' DVD, plus the previously-unreleased three-hour documentary "Oh, What a Lovely Tea Party."

'Chasing Amy' will include what Kevin Smith describes as an "awesome" look-back documentary. Back in 2008, Kevin Smith had a proposal for the Criterion Collection regarding a Blu-ray edition of his movie with more extras than the existing DVD edition. However, it seems that 'Chasing Amy' will be released on Blu-ray by Disney, not Criterion.

A box set including 'Clerks', 'Chasing Amy' and 'Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back' is also coming up.

Why would you wanna do mulitple orders though? It seems like it would pay off more if you ordered as much as possible in one order.

Yeah, but if you did one whole order, wouldn't it take 25% off the whole order instead of 25% each DVD?

Just trying to help out my fellow Hypesters. There's nothing wrong with that, got that?:yay:
