I saw tons of BRs on sale at Best Buy for $14.99 or less so I ended up buying some. I got Slumdog Millionaire, Batman: Gotham Knight and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

sooooo i ended up buying tscc on bluray. i'm really pleased with it, fine detail on facial close-ups is pretty effin' epic.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button for $14.99 is a nice snag.

Yea, and I have a $5 off coupon from Best Buy for Rewards so I'll have to get that now

you can find a listing of the titles on sale here. Over 150 titles. I think I may have to go back later this week:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...id&list=y&iht=n&st=processingtime:>1900-01-01

Can't believe it. Best Buy is actually selling some blu-ray's for a GOOD price. :wow: But noticed I said some. A lot of the stuff in that sale can be had for about the same price or even a little lower at other places mainly Amazon.com. But...

The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttion
Revolutionary Road
Taken
Slumdog Millionaire
The Wrestler

for $14.99 a piece are very good deals. I hope this is a sign of things to come with Best Buy.

Also I think a notable mention is Election and The Truman Show for $12.99 a piece.

Now if they had something like Mad Men Season 2 for $14.99 I would probably have to buy my first blu-ray from Best Buy. :cmad:

Is there a particular HDMI cable that is a good one, or is it okay to just buy any?

Yeah, I got mine off of Amazon for under $5. NEVER spend $60 on a HDMI cable.

Yeah. Monster relies on using a bunch of technology jibber jabber on their packagaing to make you think you are getting a better HDMI cable for a higher price when in reality you can get one for $10 or less online that does the job just as well.

Blu-ray Player Penetration Up 71%
Blu-ray Disc player household penetration is up to 12.3 million for the first quarter of 2009, a 71% gain year over year, according to new data from research firm Centris, just published in its report U.S. Communications and Entertainment. This includes 7 million households with a PlayStation 3 (up 52%).

Again according to Centris, the number of American households with an HDTV is up to 50.5 million, up 33% from the first quarter of 2008. On the other hand, both satellite and cable industries appear to have stagnated somewhat, with only slight growth or none at all.

Got my Blu-ray player today, thought the picture was stunning but the sound wasnt the best, any recommendations people?

Also, it seems to have knocked out the picture on the normal T.V channels also, any suggestions please?

Are you using the TV speakers or do you have a home theater system?

And I was able to get Taken from Best Buy for $10. Had a $5 reward zone coupon. Score!

Well if your just using the speakers on the TV then yeah the sound is gonna suck.

I am just using the TV speakers, but the sound is worse than my previous DVD player, surely this shouldnt be the case?

Well you gotta be more specific. What do you mean by worse and please list the audio cable you are using etc.

Well you gotta be more specific. What do you mean by worse and please list the audio cable you are using etc.

Am using a HDMI cable and the audio cable came with the package, plugged into the red and white, right and left speaker ports in the TV.

By worse I mean its lower, action seems fine, but the voices are lower definately, I have only played one Blu-ray so far which was Transformers but I would imagine the sound on that should be amazing.

Well you might wanna look around your Blu-ray players settings and see if there is any audio options and fiddle around with them and see if you can improve anything. Or just look around in the manual about the audio.

But I still say TV speakers really do suck. Even just getting a cheap 5.1 setup that can only do Dolby Digital would be a major improvement.
