The fact that Jason's father is in it is different.
Not sure if its a good different.
Hopefully his father is not going to be the reason Jason turned out to be walking Hell in boots.

it'll be Roy Burns! j/k

my bad. I thought that I was, initially, replying to someone talking about Jason Goes to Hell. I have no problem with Jason X.

Jason Goes to Hell was also intended to be a Friday the 13th movie from the beginning.

What if they really shook things up with this new version.
The reason Jason turned out to be this slaughter machine is because his parents were killed in Crystal Lake while they were simply camping by some wandering hillbilly scum ala Deliverance.
As his mother's last breath leaves her body she whispers, "my son will avenge us!"

Now Jason doesn't want to be a victim and thinks everyone in Crystal Lake must be killed because they are out to get him just like his parents.

Dumb idea but its just an idea that makes you root for Jason as a sympathetic figure now instead of unstoppable monster.

That doesn't make much sense.

Jason's mother got killed by a camper, and he was left to drown by careless campers, both happening at Crystal Lake, too, so it made some sense he was slaughtering any campers that came by Crystal Lake. In that scenario some random hillbilly killing his folks sets him off on a kill all campers spree sounds dumb and nonsensical. No offense.

I a m aware of that. Instead of rehashing the whole origin again
How many times do we have to see Batman's parents die in any movie he's in.
We know it.
Was just changing the origin to be..........different.
Its not like Jason's origin has to remain gospel.

And here is another wildly ridiculous origin for Jason :
Ash from the Evil Dead , with many of his recitations from the book of the Dead, opened up a portal in which Jason walks through.
Also opens up an ASH VS. JASON opportunity.

'Friday the 13th' Will Feature Jason and Pamela Side-By-Side

Talking with iHorror, Brad Fuller explains:

Origin isn’t really the right word for this movie. The word “Origin” got out and everyone’s calling it an origin film now, but that isn’t exactly the direction we’re taking. It’s more of an alternate world that we’re creating for Jason – an alternate space, alternate reality – in this film. Yes, Pamela and Jason are together in this film, but this is the same Jason we all know and love. He’s Jason; he kills – he kills teenagers. We went down the origin route with the second Texas Chainsaw Massacre film, and I think when you go to deep into a character’s origin, the character stops being scary at some point. I’m not worried about demystifying Jason by revealing parts of his back story, which most of the fans are familiar with.

He had some creepy moments in some of the earlier F13 movies. Parts 3 and 4 really. Not so much in 2 with the pillow case on his head.

Jason X was certainly a scary time for the franchise.

Pamela and Jason being together could be a really interesting thing. A mother & son relationship. She commands him to go around and kill people, but no one realizes that the sweet old lady who runs the camp has a son who's killing everyone.

You know I feel like this is getting out of hand...in the 80s, 8 movies were made from 80 - 89...granted things have changed in making movies but ever since Paramount got the rights back, there should have been at least 2 movies by now...bring Kane Hodder back, go back old school, and bingo...Jason is back!!!!

And even though the 2009 reboot was generaly accepted, they just decided to sit on the rights and not make any more films. When Platinum Dunes rebooted this and Nightmare on Elm Street, i thought they were preparing to milk both franchises until another Freddy vs Jason or something like that, but instead of that, the studio has just buried them both.

Who makes the Wrong Turn series? Those blokes seem to know how to churn these movies out every other year!

.......... and?

Fox makes them and the series is "meh." I love it, sure, but it's nothing great or groundbreaking that F13th needs to be taking cues from.

the first Wrong Turn film was watchable. it's part of my collection. I don't know about the rest of them.

I was specifically addressing the lack of a Friday the 13th in recent years, I wasn't necessarily talking about the quality.
