The Future of the United States of America!

This is a good series....Beck is finally on his game. Didn't the US Government releaes a report saying they thought America could lose its superpower status during the next 8 years? I'm so sick of liberalism and the entitlement ideology in this country and its going to lead us to ruin.

Yeah because look at the big governemnt and entitlement that occured over the past 8 years, created by those evil lib......oh wait no, the GOP did that. I guess its okay when they do it, huh. :oldrazz::cwink:

Besides who cares if the US is a super power, super power status is just a pain in the butt anyway.

Bigger government was created to "ensure" US safety after 9/11 with the creation of the Dept. of Homeland Security and the wars in Afghanistan (which i support) and Iraq(which i don't support). Which got very little resistence if any at all by the Dems. If i remember correctly, only one person voted against the Patriot Act.

Yes it is, but it is better to be on top of the hill.

The Dems were all for that government expansion over last 8 years...just look at how they want to magnify it in the next year...more spending past month and possibly next month...than US Spending in its entire history combined......

But no, its not good when Republicans work with Democrats on big government entitlement programs...but the solution isn't pouring even more gas onto the fire...its to stampt the fire out.

Did you enjoy the Cold War? It's funny how liberals take everything for granted.....including the blood and sweat of millions of Americans.

We were a superpower during the Cold War. We are now considered a hyperpower on the level of the Roman Empire. But that is of course changing. China and Russia are emerging, which would likely drop us down to superpower status again. And our own idiotic spending policies will practically bankrupt the country, sending us into third world status if we don't stop.

Technically the US owes China something like 900 billion dollars. What happens if they ask for their money back.

Yep, in fact it was the insane bill France and England saddled Germany with that basically caused WW2.

I know that the recent hoopla of states declaring their sovereignty sis going around these boards, and I think some of it is a stunt, however, it did spark and idea for a theory I've had for a while.

How many others, think that this country will have another civil war or some type of revolution? Obviously, it won't be racial, but I think their is a big chance it will be economical. First of all, I want it to be known that I'm not an anarchist. I'm not stupid. Anarchy doesn't work. All it does is create a vaccume for everyone and their brother who thinks he knows best to step in and fight for suprememcy. So I'm not about that. Nor am I about revelution for revolution's sake. Nor am I condoning one. However, it must be stated that this country is on a slippery slope. Does, anyone else think we might see another civil war in the next 100 years?

I've always felt that this country is too big for one central government. It's too much area for one centralized goverment to handle. Eventually it's going to fracture. The economy is a major card in the infrastructure of any country, and its an especially big card for the U.S.

Personally, I wish Napoleon had not been so eager to sell us the land he did. I would have liked for north america to have been made up of three or four different governments. Obviously, war would have been a cause of concern, because if you pack different cultures together your gonna have disagreements. I think it was a mistake to go with the whole manifest destiny idea.Texas should have been allowed to remain a seperate government for one thing. I am not texan so dont think Im spouting my state pride. I just don't like the way the way the government is set up. It fails almost always at micromanaging.

Now, I am not blind and I do see the good things our government does, but it has gotten alot wrong. And given the youth of our country and the lessons of history this country is in for a serious wake up call. Well, let me rephrase that, if things aren't gotten together our government will be in for serious wake up call. At current, the government is getting brave. They aren't brave enough to do anything drastic, and fortunatel, it is filled with people who still believe in american ideas, but all it takes is a spark to ignite a flame. And the government is pooring jet fuel on the fire. And that doesn't bode well for this country or it's people. We try to be the bastion of hope for the world, and if we collapse this country becomes a hypocrit.

So, does anyone else think we are heading for another civil war and a change of the way this country is set up within the next 100 years?

I strongly doubt that any state will secede from the union, now or within the near future. As much as people like to complain about the federal government, each state needs the federal government to survive. And you can rest assured that any state which leaves this union will not have the support from the United States government as a whole, and without that support, they are setting themselves up to fail as third-world nations. I doubt many countries would be willing to trade or have any sort of diplomatic relationship with a country such as Missouri. What do they have to offer on their own to the international community? Nothing. It is their combined worth with the other forty-nine states which allows them the liberty to have any sort of prominence.

The only state I can see surviving on its own is Texas, and that's barely saying anything. The United States would have a legitimate business interest within that state, as it is one of the most economically viable states in the country right now. But again, the likelihood that relations between an independent Republic of Texas and the United States would be peachy is slim. I would expect any state which secedes to be blacklisted, much like Cuba when it declared its independence, for a very long time.

I don't think Glenn Beck is saying this either.....as he said at the beginning of every one of these episodes, these are simply looking at possibilities no matter how crazy. His reasoning is, people who have studied those that survived unbelievable odds, did so by being totally prepared, and as he says, a hell of alot of luck.

I just saw it as starting some good conversation, certainly not as something that is going to happen tomorrow.

After watching Colbert's Doom Bunker, I think Beck is insane.

I guess we will have to watch out for that werewolf Congress in 2014? :cwink:

This post is by no means an attempt to raise one country or lower another.

I have lived in the UK for most of my life - England

I have applied to immigrate to the USA as I believe that country to be the best for my situation.

My situation being a young newly married man whose profession is hairdressing.

In the UK you would earn £25,000 a year if you are lucky. In the states $100,000.

The difference is incredible - but it is not just money. My wife is American too and a hairdresser so it makes sense to double the yearly income.

I feel the USA has more to offer a person who is willing to work hard. Too many free handouts in the UK.

Will you be a hairdresser for the stars? To get that much you best hope so.
