Transformers The G-1 References Thread

Hey everyone, I couldn't find a thread for this, so I thought I'd make one.

We've heard that there will be some references to the generation 1 cartoon, and this thread is for noting these references. I'll start.

In the scene where Sam's dad is buying him Bumblebee, then Bernie Mac tells him that it costs $5000, and the dad says he won't go over 4. So Bernie Mac turns to the car next to Bumblebee, which is a VW Beetle, like the original Bumblebee!

I'd consider the old-school sound f/x on Optimus when he transforms in front of Sam and Mikaela in the street a nice little nod to the G1 series. I love that sound...it's like vrrrt, vrrrt, vrrrat, vrrrat.

Thanks! I don't make threads often, but this seemed to be needed.

Edit: Ah, I just noticed the sound. It's so great that they would take the time to incorporate it into the movie. I think it really shows that they're trying their best to please everyone.

That's really one of the things I'm really looking forward... I'm hoping it wasn't just an illusion. It sounded perfect... subtle but definately inspiring. That would be the ULTIMATE nod to the fans!

Definitely.. I dunno if you ever played the Activision game for the C64, but I always liked that version of the theme (the other C64 one was ok, but a little fast).. that one seemed darker.

I'll admit, I was hoping the transformation sound was going to sound like when Devastator transformed in the 86 movie, but ah well..
