I need a lil help, guys. I saw this guy playing this game on his iPhone the other day on the subway. There were 9 boxes of letters and you have to find a 3 letter word among the 9 letters or something. Does anyone know what it's called? It looked addicting as hell.

In case you haven't heard the news, Apple announced OS 4.0 for the iPhone. It will be released this summer (which I take as further evidence they'll be releasing a new phone to coincide with the new software).

The most noteworthy addition from this version: Multitasking. That's right. Finally being able to multitask on the phone and, by extension the Touch and Pad (although the iPad won't get it until the fall).

There's just one problem. Multitasking will not be available for the 3G or earlier phones. Only for the 3GS because of hardware incompatibility. The same goes for the Touch, as only those release late 2009 and newer will support multitasking. (Although I hold out a little hope that hackers will figure out how to get jailbroken 3G phones to support the multitasking).

I respectfully disagree. I would say that the Folders is much more noteworthy than Multi tasking. While multi tasking may be much more useful, helpful and handy for some it is very overrated imho.

Take iPhone OS 3.0, now when Apple finally gave the iPhone the ability to send MMS and AT&T finally supported it that was very noteworthy, long over due and used by pretty much everyone that owns an iPhone.

I feel multitasking will only be heavily and properly utilized by a few, used initially by slightly more and never used more than a couple of times to try it out by more than the majority of iPhone users. Which is why it has only made it now.

My phone is jailbroken and I do use backgrounding/multitasking but I also have folder/categories and I use it a lot more than multitasking. imho

We just got a new system at work. Having issues with the new OS preferences.

Searching. It no longer searches in categories separating folders, files fonts etc. Is there a preference to change this? Again I can't find anything in the help.

Just got a Mac. Is there any way I can make the grey in the windows transparent like the taskbar?

Does anyone know what software i need to dl, or how i open up smime.(ext. P)....e-mails? I need to open up some secure emails, but as they are now, i can't with my G4....

Yesterday, I had my MacBook Pro rebooted after it petered out last night from a lack of hard drive space. As a result, I had to reestablish my account. I did so with the Mac OSX disc, and I was able to log in fine. I then made sure to alter the settings in the Keychain Access utility so I can install and delete products and such. However, when I tried to install Microsoft Office or update Itunes or delete a folder I did not need, iTunes would not recognize my new username and or password? I also can't edit my profile to make my account an administrative account. I even tried restoring my computer to factory settings but it still didn't work. Anyone know the problem.

Hmm...got any more info. Did your HD crash? Have you ran a Disk Utility check on it? Did you erase and re-install OS X on it? Or is your HD still full?

Just curious if anyone has been having issues with Safari 5.0? Or if they have had any issues with their iPhone 4 and or iPhoto recently?

If I'm only using a Macbook for word processing, web browsing, email, spreadsheets, etc, do I need a 4gb Macbook Pro or will a regular 2gb Macbook suit me?

Nope to all three.

Well, I don't really use iPhoto much at all. But no complaints from my sister who uses it more. And, for the little amount of time I use Safari, I've had no problems. I've actually been very happy with the speed increase. And I love my iPhone 4. (Especially since Jailbreakme has come out ;))

It probably won't make that much of a difference, especially if you redraft hour computer somewhat often (once a week or two weeks) you should be fine. But if you do plan on upgrading the RAM. Do it after one your own. Go with crucial, samsung, Kingston or corsair imho. It will be a lot cheaper than what apple charges.

I see, thanks Humbug. I'm a bit computer illiterate. What is redraft?

If you're only going to use it for simple stuff like that, then the Macbook should be fine. The only real difference when you don't need the power is the Pro's larger screen (which is very nice to have).

Now, if you think you're going to end up using it as a primary, or for more intensive things like videos or games, it might be worth chipping in the extra for the Pro. But Humbug is right, either way, it's much much cheaper to upgrade with 3rd party ram after you buy it. That's what I did. It was about half what Apple wanted to upgrade my pro.

AGH! Stupid auto spell, I was posting form my iPhone. lol. I meant restart.

Oh, btw, personally I like the Unibody 13" MBP vs. the white Unibody MB. I just don't think Apple's plastic white macs are built very well overall and I hate the padding under the MB. It's one whole rubber piece that gets extremely dirty very easily and certain types of cleaners and towels stain it. If you can afford the extra $200 I would fork for the 13" MBP imho. The unibody design is so very nice. Don't forget to get applecare somewhere down the line too.

Maybe he meant reboot?

Which, on a Mac, is usually completely unnecessary. I can go weeks without a reboot, even when installing and uninstalling applications. About the only time I need to reboot is when a new OS patch is released. Occasionally I have to reboot because of an issue or crash.

But I'm not exaggerating when I say that a crash reboot on my Mac happens less then 10% or the times it used to happen on my XP or Vista machines. (About half the time it happens in my Windows 7 machine since Microsoft actually built 7 properly.)

Well it depends on what he is doing, when I run Transmission (strictly for non copyright material ) I will need to restart my MBP after a day or two.

But you're right Wieg, if I am just posting here or browsing or using iTunes or iPhoto or checking e-mail and so on I don't restart my mac very often, usually just put it to sleep.

Why the heck do you need to restart when using Transmission? I've never had to.

For some reason it eats up my RAM after leaving it on for a day or two straight. My computer slows down a lot after using it for that long. If I just use it for a few hours or so NBD.

It will also not quit after certain time periods, if I say torrent for a few hours usually NBD. But if I torrent for hours or days straight then I have to force quit it. Before you ask, 4GB RAM.

Have you tried uTorrent? They just came out with the 1.0 version for Mac. I'm hoping to have the time to try it out tonight because I love the PC version.

Yeah used to use it all the time when I had Vista but I like transmission better. imho.
