For a long while, I scoffed at the idea of an Austin Butler Gambit. But I've eventually turned. He's suitably lean, has the facial look and has shown to be good with accents. Also, as a bonus, as I mentioned in the Rogue thread, with Cailee Spaeny being my Rogue pick, we'd have an Elvis and Priscilla pair up!

Some people have suggested Jacob Anderson for Gambit. I don't know if he'd be a good pick or not. But if he was cast, I think they should shamelessly rip off the look he had in Doctor Who. I saw pictures of that recently and it made me go "Okay, I see it."

He's also charismatic as hell. I scoffed at him at first too. But seeing him in Elvis and Bikeriders really convinced me. Frankly, even if they don't get Austin Butler, his existence proves that there is better out there for the character than a balding, middle-aged Channing Tatum with a dad bod.

He appeared in the MCU so that made him the MCU version. There can be multiple versions of MCU Gambit, similar to Spider-Man, Loki, Wolverine, Deadpool, Dr. Strange, etc.

Well at least he's finally appearing with the team now. Well I hope that's the case. He appeared more with the Wolverine than the X-Men in the movies.

My theory is that he's not the same one from D&W but he's from the X-Men universe seen in the post credits scene of The Marvels.

But at the same time, Laura ended up in Deadpool's universe at the end of D&W so who's to say that Channing's Gambit from that movie isn't the same one that's in Doomsday after making his way back to his universe.

I’d rather they just ignore D&W completely. Just give us the OG X-Men with Laura, Deadpool, and Kapičić Colossus (sorry Cudmore) in the reset DOFP 2023 timeline:

Logan is and should have always been, IMO, a separate timeline from the main X-Men continuity, just like its comic source material. D&W went and mucked it up a bit (but I guess that’s par for the course for the X-Men). Just ignore it completely; unless the “anchor being” is something that the MCU is going forward with.

I think my dream scene for Gambit in Doomsday, is to see him on screen with Rogue! I think I might have to wait til Secret Wars for that though!

Like I said many years ago, Channing Tatum looks fitting with the OT cast. So Marvel Studios making this happen, is like my fan X-Men wishlists post dofp are finally coming true!

i actually wouldn't mind seeing him start out catching a young thief in New Orleans (Storm) in the act and all hell breaks lose (why not in a poker hall or club), and they have to hightail it out of there. something like the original Millar's Ultimate X-Men run in that way they round up the team so to speak
