for EVERY NFL game this season....$340 sounds pretty reasonable

what would you consider a reasonable price there?

GameStop has done a LOT of shady stuff. I was with the company for a couple of years and the employee often gets blamed... but most of the stuff we did (that article above for example) was sent down from the top...

I always felt bad about "renting" out a new game... We were supposed to say that we needed a "floor case" but that was always a bunch of bunk. We often had enough fake cases to put out... and often the company had us do that for more than just ONE.. Lets use DEX for example.

We'd often have a handful of that said game open... why? So more than one person could check it out out at a time.

GameStop doesn't give a crap about their customers... they care even less about the employee. Several of my friends have been fired for not meeting a ridiculous quota on Edge cards...

So glad I told that company to stuff it.

Im sure they took that to heart:o

worked for them for a few years.....didn't get treated bad, didn't help that people would steal from nearby stores and bring them to us to trade them in for cash

I'm sure the company didn't care, but my manager sure as heck did... that's all that mattered to me.

When did you work for them?

When GameStop and EB were separate entities (when I first worked for them) they were great. Once the merger happened they slowly, but surely started treating their employee's bad.

I'm not talking about the managers (although my fatass manager was a *****e... this last time that is) but the Regional Managers and their bosses. Setting crazy standards, not accepting that your store is SLOW and you're not selling much of anything let alone a GameInformer Subscription.

GameStop, IMHO is one of the WORST companies to work for.

That was one of the best times to work for them. Pretty sure that's before EB/GameStop formed the unholy alliance. Then it WAS a good place to work, fun.. you could actually talk about games, ect.

I also loved when you could trade/buy DVD's. We would do a CRAPton of business based on movie trades towards games alone.

that sucked....we had people stealing from the Target and Walmarts nearby...stealing DVDs, controllers, memory cards, bringing them to us, and trading them for cash

hated it

We were RIGHT beside a Wal-Mart, practically hooked onto it... trust me, I know how that feels. Our area also has three GameStops in a 15 mile radius. I always hated that because we were constantly calling each other about thieves, ect.

The f*** do you care where they got that s*** from. Just take it and give them their money, Mr. Holier-than-Thou Boy Scout. :o

when its first thing in the morning and leaves me with no change it sucks....not to mention wed have a store of "used" stuff that no one is buying....its more crap in the store than is necessary

We would often say NO trades for cash until noon.

If You Publish on PSN First, Microsoft Ain't Interested

You may have noticed that games that appear on the PlayStation Network, but not on the Xbox Live Marketplace, don't seem to ever come Microsoft's way down the road. The opposite has often been true, with numerous Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Arcade releases eventually making their way to Sony's disc-and-download-based platforms months after the fact. And yet Microsoft seemingly never gets these post-exclusive releases on the other side of the coin.
Apparently, that's because they don't want them.
Speaking to Eurogamer at Gamescom, Xbox Europe head Chris Lewis stated that Microsoft's policy is that titles must ship simultaneously on Xbox 360 or XBLA alongside other platforms, or be exclusive to Microsoft for some period of time. Otherwise, the company may simply refuse to allow the content on its console.
"We're a little biased, so obviously we're going to look to protect our own space as best we can and get exclusivity," he said. "Whilst I can't be specific about the terms and conditions, you can be very confident we seek to maximise our own advantage to ensure the playing field is even, and certainly plays to our advantage wherever possible."
Eurogamer obtained a copy of Microsoft's Content Submission and Release Policy, which states the following regarding parity and/or exclusivity:
Titles for Xbox 360 must ship at least simultaneously with other video game platform, and must have at least feature and content parity on-disc with the other video game platform versions in all regions where the title is available. If these conditions are not met, Microsoft reserves the right to not allow the content to be released on Xbox 360.
The "parity on-disc" portion of that statement does explain away how Sony was able to secure certain launch exclusive content, such as the added bonus case for L.A. Noire, which came in the form of downloadable content. At the same time, it doesn't explain away how Warner Bros. was able to release Mortal Kombat, which featured an on-disc PS3-exclusive character in God of War lead Kratos, without drawing Microsoft's ire. While Kratos would never appear on any console not branded PlayStation, the fact that the Xbox 360 version had no equivalent bonus character seems to go against the wording of the policy. Perhaps feathers were rankled, and Microsoft simply allowed things to move forward given MK's stature and draw as a title.
This policy does also extend to digital titles as well. This may have something to do with why Sony's new PSN PLAY program, ostensibly an attempt at bringing to the table its own version of Microsoft's Summer of Arcade, features no exclusive titles save for Payday: The Heist, a Sony Online Entertainment developed title. Microsoft, for its part, requires a minimum of four weeks of platform exclusivity to include any title in the Summer of Arcade program.
Regardless of any evidence of apparent flexibility in the policy, Lewis made it clear that he sees no chance for change in the policy any time in the foreseeable future, and emphasized that Microsoft sees this policy as a way of ensuring things remain competitive between the various console platforms.
"But, honestly, and this is going to sound a bit contrived, we just want what our consumers want from us. We want to be where they want us to be. We want the quality bar of what they experience from us to continue to go up. I think it has to happen. Everybody's got to do that. If we want to continue to command healthy average selling prices, which we all do, that which we offer our consumers has got to keep getting better. Despite the fact it can be irksome to have such strong competition all the time, it actually does keep us on our toes. It's great for everyone, and it makes for a very healthy race to higher and higher levels of quality of game experiences."

Yep. Basically, they realized people didn't take too kindly to being sold opened, stripped products--and now they want Square-Enix to send them special, coupon-less versions.

Basically, Gamestop now requires special evil-reduced-value versions of the product.

I have to imagine that Gamestop is selling very little PC product in order to be comfortable pulling a stunt like this. No wonder they're nervous about OnLive; they're probably losing a ton of business to Steam already.

And with good reason.

Gamestop is only good for the occasional used game deal they have.

I bought sins of the solar empire off impulse a few weeks ago, while that had a decent price, everything else (like Origin) was expensive as hell. More than it cost for physical copies.
It costs alot less to put games out in digital form and takes in more money per a copy. So they are obviously trying to take people for a ride.

I don't really have a problem with tracking user habits. It's probably a great way to gouge to market, design better games by looking at play habits and optimizing games by looking at peoples average hardware specs. It's probably just or even more effective than play testing. Steam does it with both hardware and software. Although, it is optional. Not sure about EA's.

EA's is not optional, and it is a little more intrusive than what Steam does. They way they word it, they could look at whatever they want.
