Oh god, OR Omegle. :(

People jerking it online... in 3D!

Best case scenario: Facebook doesn't touch Oculus and allows them to do their own thing. They'll still forever carry the stigma of being associated with Facebook, but if Oculus manages to deliver on their vision then people will slowly begin to trust them again.

Worst case scenario: Your Oculus experience will require a Facebook login and you'll be targeted with ads tailored just for you. Oculus will lose all the indie love they've built over the years and a significant section of their fanbase will be reject their product.

Either outcome doesn't sound ideal.

I will be done with Oculus if that worst case scenario comes true. But until then, I'm trying to keep an open mind. So far I'm seeing one big positive in all of this. If Facebook manages to bring VR to the masses, everyone else who works on VR as well, will have a much easier time getting accepted by the public.

Rift lost the cool factor for now anyway.

Im not buying into this VR nonsense. I think it'll be the same as the 3D craze. It's neat, but the content available won't match the cost it takes to enter.

Yep agreed about it being a fad and nothing more. Also I don't really understand why facebook buying it is a big deal

I'm probably with you on this boat
Isn't the VR thing kinda old? It should be improved by now and have more content

lol they were pushing VR in the mid 90's and nothing ever came of it. I haven't seen anything here that's any different.

Some people came out of the experience weary and nauseated

That'd pretty much solidify getting a PS4 over a One for me. I don't revisit older games a lot, but I do sometimes (especially rebuying a gem I missed), and I like having the option.

If they add PS3 support I'll get one on the spot (& trade in my PS3). Till then I'll ontinue to play on my neighbour's PS4.

They are making a service for that specific function, PS Now's focus is PS3 games, they won't add BC for PS3 games. Also, the PS3 had such a crazy architecture that it's not as simple as PS1 and PS2 to add support for it.

People keep bringing that service up but that's not good enough. I don't want to repay for my ps3 games I already own. I think that's a useless service considering I don't see many, if any, ps3 games I want in the future. I'd only be interested in ps4 games and my current collection of ps3 titles. Now if we don't have to pay for the ps3 games we already own? Hell to the yea on PS Now.

Yeah I know (thanks), just saying I'd get one right now if they did do regular PS3 BC. That one factor means more than anything else related to gaming only (media is a different story) to me, as no matter how good the machine is I can play all the exclusives next door and my mate has a great set up. I don't want to buy all my PS3 games again just to stream them so I feel forced to keep my PS3 and keep it connected, although this solultion will be great for Xbox guys who switch who never owned a PS3.

Yeah, would be great if they let you have free digital versions of any PS3 games you traded in to them. There's a few where I want to keep the boxes and don't mind paying twice (God of War, Uncharted & Last of Us) but otherwise that would solve my issue and allow me to remove one piece of clutter from my current setup and make room for another. :woot:

BC is just something you should never expect from new hardware. If you already have a big library of PS3 games, and still have a PS3, just hang onto it. How many consoles in the history of gaming have had full backwards compatibility?

At least Sony is working on a solution, streaming PS3 games with a subscription (or rentals), to let people who want to play games they missed last gen. Even if it doesn't meet your specific expectations, it's still a cool idea that could eventually grow into a full streaming library that you pay monthly for. As far as I know Microsoft isn't even looking into BC at all.

I just see it as another way for Sony to make extra money. Get gamers to repay for games they already own, or have owned. If MS were the ones doing this service, there'd already be a meme about how anti consumer MS is. I rather have no service for BC, than a tease like PS Now. Sure you can play your old PS3 games, just hand us over some more money.

I don't see any benefit to it. The further along we go with this new gen, the less likely people will be to want to go back and play games they missed from last gen. I really only see it as a means of getting you to re-pay for games you already spent money on.

That's what I'm doing with all my historical consoles, just hanging onto them and each of their big game libraries. Also why I don't have space to buy all the next gen consoles even though I'd like to and can afford it. There's not really any point in me having more consoles than devices I can connect to the TV (or amp) at the same time (or fit around the TV) as once disconnected I have proven that I never use them again. :csad: If they allowed me to trade my PS3 games in for credit toward Gaikai versions that worked well we may have a deal.

Yea Iv kept my PS3 and 360 due to the fact theres no BC for either system. Maybe in a few years I won't want to go back to last gen titles and I can finally move all my last gen stuff, but right now, im still getting use out of them.

*PS1 and PS2

I doubt they would ever consider adding PS3 support (if it's even possible).
PS3 should be easier to support for the PS4, not adding that support is a bite to the leg
PS1 & PS2 is a challenge, and a welcome addition

Not really. The PS3 is too recent to have proper software emulation. A system must be quite a bit more powerful to handle that which I doubt the PS4 is at the moment. Not to mention games on that ran with the Cell processor which is notorious for being difficult, that's not something that can properly be emulated, at least not anytime soon

PS Now isnt for someone like you. It is great however for all the new PS converts who missed out on a ton of gems from this past generation

Up until last year, 100% of Sony's consoles were, so its not too surprising for people to expect it to be the case with the PS4
