The Greatest Criminal Mind of Our Time: Nicholas Hoult IS Lex Luthor

It's important to remember Post-Crisis Lex didn't exist in '78. The version we're all fond of. Byrne didn't create that Lex until '86. Context is important.

He’s referring to Eisenberg there, no matter how he spins it lol
I see no reason to believe he’d go out of his way to protect the feelings of Eisenberg or the Snyder fans.

Okay, but the point still stands.

I think James probably wants to be nice to someone who’s currently working and might see around

I so want to see the Lex Luther that's more like M.R.'s Lex, and less like Hackman, spacey, and JE's.

I picture my Lex being well built, very confident, serious, bald, ultra intelligent like Tony stark, one of the wealthiest, if not the wealthiest, men on the planet, and he puts on a fake persona for the public to make them like him ( but he secretly hates people )

My lex, out of shear boredom, could invent a new energy source or a cure for cancer without half trying, then lock it away for a rainy day.

He would also have people disappeared over the most trivia of things.
You described the Lex I want very well.

None of the film versions have done it for me.

I actually unironically think that Gustaf would be a better fit for Lex.

What’s funny is I think you’d actually get to pretty similar performances from either in the role. Not a bad thing, I just find think their instincts would lead them in similar directions.

Honestly, if we’re going for a fully formed Lex, I think the older the better. I’m Team Alexander.

Plus, he seems the type who would be up for shaving his head for potentially years on end.

Gurl we could have had a reunion with Joe as Slade and him as Lex. But noooo he got stuck with Eisenberg.

Absolutely! Gunn just doesn't want to upset the "cult" too much with his comments since he's already got too much s**t to deal with already.
Hackman's Lex was a perfect golden age, Action#23 Lex but it is a product of it's time and while you can call the portrayal campy or cheesy you wouldn't call him "craaaaazy" as Rosenbaum put it, that dishonor belongs to Snyder's ADD, Ratalin starved Lex Luthor.

Of the two I'd probably side more with Alexander Skarsgard visually, but Bill Skarsgard I think is the better actor or the one I've been more impressed with from what I've seen them both in. Wouldn't be my first choice but I'm not totally opposed to either of them.

From a portrayal perspective, I want Lex Luthor to be bald from the start, older than Superman, well established in Metropolis with favourable public standing & I'd like him to speak intelligently, clearly & directly. Think something along the lines of John Shea's standing as Lex Luthor from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in the first season, which the more I think about it is probably my favourite live action Lex Luthor performance overall.

As long as THIS Lex is actually serious, BALD, with no goofy quips or ADHD, I'm good with either ( but I'd prefer Alex of the two )

I think Bill would make a much better Brainiac.

As long as this Lex is as far away from Eisenberg's godawful Zuckerberg on acid impression, I'll be happy. But I'm team Alex on this one. He was great in Succession, and he'd sell the alpha male Lex brilliantly. Beef him up as much as he is in The Northman, and have him insanely jealous of Superman's supernatural strength, and strength of character.

I'm not crazy about either of the Brothers Skarsgård playing Lex, but if I had to pick one I'd go with Bill. I feel like he'd be a better fit for another DCU character, but I prefer Bill over Alexander as Lex for a few reasons. Visually, Bill just has a better face for villainy. Alex is also as tall as Corenswet. I know there's always camera trickery, and I don't want Lex to to be short, but you can tell Alexander is a beast of a man. I'd much rather see him as Aquaman or some other superhero or supervillain. Acting wise, I've also been more impressed with Bill than Alex. I haven't seen all of Alex's filmography, but I've seen several of his performances and the only one I REALLY enjoyed him in was Northman. Meanwhile I dig most of the stuff I've seen Bill in.

But I'd rather see the role go to someone else. Maybe not necessary Nicholas Hoult, but someone with gravitas and an intellect to match. Someone who is a brain but is also commanding. I don't really feel that from any of these 3 dudes.

Alex just looks so weird bald.
