The Greatest Criminal Mind of Our Time: Nicholas Hoult IS Lex Luthor

For some reason, I can't see Alex committing himself to a role that would have him go bald for 10+ years, a supervillain role at that. Do bald caps look any more convincing today than they did 20 years ago? Maybe that's an option.
I mean bald caps are a thing.

For one or two films, maybe, but I'm not sure about 10 years or more.
I mean... this is the same man that promoted his latest film by going on fours and having a leash around him like a dog. I wouldn't be surprised if he's up for being bald for 10 years lol (Also he'll only be bald by the time the movies are shooting)

I don't know. Dudes can be vain about their hairlines and such, especially when they reach a certain age. And Alex isn't getting any younger. He might have concerns. lol But we'll see.

Lex with a laser lined fade would be a nice modern look for the character lol.

One of his main complaints for Hackman's Luthor is that he wasn't bald all throughout and plus he was also adamant that Nebula needed to have a shaved head as well (Even tho that cut out a lot of his casting pool back then) and made Karen Gillian shave it for 10 years for Guardians. I think it's safe to say Lex will be completely bald.

If he decided to go more "down to earth" and play him like his character in Barbarian, maybe it'd actually work, but I think he's pretty "meh" in John Wick 4, his Pennywise performance is not that impressive, and his Hemlock Grove performance is just straight-up bad. Whenever he's playing a villain he seems to have the absolute worst instincts.

Karen Gillan continued shaving her head for all her appearances? I assumed it was just for the first and eventually they said **** it and just bald-capped it.

Yeah I don’t think that is true at all. If it is, she must be wearing wigs out and about and in other movies since 2014.

Also, I’m pretty sure no one told her to shave her head the first time. I recall her talking about how she just decided to take the plunge and go for it on a whim. That was the only one she did it for, though.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one, as Bill's performance in John Wick is the one that kind of sold me on him for Lex. Naturally, I'd want him to approach that character a bit differently, though.

Either way, I'm fine with both Skarsgard brothers.

I mean, playing Lex Luthor over ten years doesn't mean physical appearances every single year. It's not like the actor needs to shave their head for ten years straight.

Karen Gillan shaved it for the first one but then she used bald caps from GotG 2 on.

I'd imagine that bald caps are more convincing with unnatural skin tones, but then again, Laura Haddock didn't look too bad in the first Guardians film. I just don't want a repeat of what the CW did with Rosenbaum in the season finale of Smallville. That would be terrible.

I don’t think it was so much a failure of that attempt as much as the fact that we were seeing it on someone who was actually bald for seven years straight. We knew full well what the shape of his bald head actually looked like. You can’t pull trickery on us after a situation like that.

I think you can still tell that something's off (especially if you have an eye for that sort of thing) regardless of those factors, but yeah, it certainly didn't help.
