The Greatest Criminal Mind of Our Time: Nicholas Hoult IS Lex Luthor

I have completely abandoned my aversion to a (at least semi) comedic Lex at the prospect of Howerton in the role.

I'm from Metropolis! WHERE THE VAMPIRES HANG OUT!!

But for real it needs to be him.

Something I really hope is that Gunn and co. will be more creative with Lex’s wardrobe.

The man is far too much of a narcissist to wear nothing but basic suits, he’s the best dressed man in the room and he knows it.

What sort of things would you like him to wear, @SupermansPal? Ascots? Turtleneck sweaters? Maybe a jabot lol?

That last one wasn't serious.

Credit where it’s due: they were pretty creative with Eisenberg’s wardrobe.

Didn’t help any, but hey…

Imo Lex would wear 20k suits with a 80k watch on his wrist.
He should be the ultimate snob.

Yeah we’re rewatching smallville and I kind of love the angle where he’s always thinking of the Roman Empire and comparing himself to Alexander the Great etc

I think the narcissism and ego has to shine through for Lex. It's not enough that he's just a successful businessman, or incredibly rich. Hackman's Lex for example just wanted to make lots of money off land, and Superman was just an obstacle in his way. I like the idea of a modern Lex who wants to make his mark in history just as Emperors did centuries ago, and he sees himself capable of becoming one of the few people on the planet who can effect global change like that - until Superman appears and completely moves the goalposts. This is what threatens him most, the risk to his own legacy.

And I also like when Lex has a bit of an impostor syndrome as well, he’s quite sensitive about his humble origins.

Idk if anyone is watching Super Pumped right now bit JGL is showing some Lex like characteristics. Less classy and more trashy but the narcissistic smooth talking nature is there.

I kind of love the idea of a shared universe lex building towards his own legion of doom. Like, if he takes a background role in this and teams up with ra’s al ghul for the Batman flick, what a combo

Well that's the one thing that had me excited at the end of the Justice League movie, even if imagining the execution still had me a tad nervous heh. God, imagine how that might have turned out...

I feel Lex should be the one character that has a presence in all the films.
If he is one of the wealthiest and most powerful men on the planet, he should definitely be there.

Lol. This description makes me imagine a Lex who would go all Ric Flair on somebody like Simon Stagg and rail about his “$6000 custom made lizard skin shoes”.

I can see a Lex who is a Rolex wearing, limousine rinsing, jet flying, kiss stealing, wheeling and dealing, son of a gun.

“I live in the biggest house. On the biggest hill. On the biggest side of town. Do you want to know why? It’s because I was born with a golden spoon in my mouth.“

We say these things like it’s crazy but I just listened to a podcast about a millionaire who hired male models to hang out in his mansion and dress and look just like him. Rich people act crazy all the time

99.9 percent of us can't even fathom having that kind of money.
I work EMS and fire and make a little less than 70k a year.

I have a friend who is a millionaire, but even he acts relatively normal as he realises nowadays you can blow through a couple of million relatively easily if you're not sensible, it's not an endless amount of money.

I think it's when you get into Elon-Musk type billionaire status - the 0.01% - that you probably lose all sense of proportion and realise you can effectively buy any life experience you want. I mean...

true I make a pretty decent salary, but my druthers is to dine on a $1.50 Costco hotdog and fountain drink combo. (But I have to eat it there because I want to get at least 3 free refills.)

But Luthor should not be eating Costco hot dogs.

Not my first choice, but given that we’re currently in a never-ending speculation phase… discuss.

I don't hate the idea. He'd be on the shorter side though. Not sure how people would feel about that.

Well we know how Gunn probably feels about it :funny:. Great casting though, for this or any number of other DC characters - he'd be an absolutely baller Green Arrow.

He’s still my ideal Barry Allen, but I would be all for Taron as Lex, ngl. I can see the vision.
