The Greatest Criminal Mind of Our Time: Nicholas Hoult IS Lex Luthor

I started reading the president Luthor arc recently. I think it'd be awesome for this movie to end up with Lex licking his wounds, but ultimately getting away with his crimes. Maybe a post credit scene of Lex plotting, and hinting at his presidential run.

Then follow that up with an HBO mini series of Lex's presidential run and rise to power.

Imagine a max series like the penguin, only it would be a Lex origin story, pre Superman.
Childhood to adulthood.
His rise to power.

If Lex is well received, a streaming show could be great. Something in the vein of House of Cards. Really flesh out his character arc.

Thinking back to John Shea and Clancy Brown's performance, I enjoyed both performances, but it's hard to say which one I liked more. John Shea was underrated. I enjoyed him for being the villain who would challenge Superman, and wasn't a guy that could be taken down easily. He was more menacing. One thing that seemed to stand out form other portrayals besides Hackman though was that Shea's version seemed to know he was evil and embraced it, whereas Clancy Brown's portrayal of the animated Lex-I can't say I know for certain--but I think he trying to do good, or it was only because he cared more about his image and reputation than he cared about people--that and he just wanted to be loved by people?--then Superman takes his spot, and then from that day on, Luthor becomes jealous and obsessed with destroying Superman.

I discussed this once, but I was just going to touch on the way both Luthor's enunciated the name "Superman".

Shea: "Astonishing debut...SUP-ER-MAN." He had to hate it. He hated the name. You could sense sarcasm in his voice. He seemed to hate it so much that he was trying not to show his hate by saying the name.

Brown: "You see...um...Super...man...I own Metropolis." You could hear the hate in his voice and it sounded like he was thinking "The f#$%? SUPERMAN? What a stupid name. Who does this alien think he is taking my place?"

LOL -- I hate him already!
(That's a compliment.)

I wonder what he's saying here. Clearly he's making a threat. Have to admit, in the Fortress scenes, he looks very young, but looking forward to his performance. Like how he refers to Superman as an "it".

I'm liking how much I'm going to hate Luthor in this. What got me is how he can't stand how Superman is at the center of discourse. How this simple and good example is getting a response from the world. Clearly not all good, but it's reaching people.

So far, he seems like modern comic Lex to a "T," which makes me so damned happy.
I noticed a pretty stark contrast between this Lex and Cutlidz's Lex from Superman & Lois. As dangerous and formidable an opponent as Cud-Lex is in S&L, his body language totally changes when Tyler's Superman loses his temper. He essentially becomes scared of Superman. But after watching this latest trailer the umpteenth time, something about Hoult-Lex's demeanor stood out to me. In the scene where Superman barges into his office and tosses his desk to the side like a ragdoll, Lex just stares back at him all wide-eyed as he continues to sip his coffee. He isn't the least bit intimidated. He's an entirely different breed.

I am so glad that Gunn has kept the Superman and Lex scenes together to a few milliseconds in the trailer. I want to see the full confrontation to the movie screen. Love young Lex. Hoult can be Lex for the next decade.

I'm already seeing speculation that this is President Luthor because they show Lex when Lois mentions POTUS.

Gunn already squashed all speculation on the president line and secretary of Defense line.

Maybe Lex is the Secretary of Defense and Flag is the President. :o

I always liked him he has been good in anything I seen him in and I have to say he is killing it as Lex quite possibly one of the best live action Lex Luthor I have seen.
