The Greatest Criminal Mind of Our Time: Nicholas Hoult IS Lex Luthor

Every Lex we've got on the big screen has been goofy.

None felt like a real threat to the world.
And When they did feel like a threat, they spoiled it with chessy one liners.

Sadly, a TV show actually has my favorite live action Lex, SV.

It’s a lazy comparison, but just make him like Darren Cross from Ant-Man, publicly-respected businessman public who will kill anyone who stands in his path towards power.

Fits for Luthor; instead of shrinking tech, it’s any number of alien tech that spawns Intergang and/or other villains.

Hoping they dont go Silicon Valley *****ebag; spin on zuckerburg or Elon musk here.
Have him be a serious intimidating character. Basically just copy the DCAU take. But maybe a younger actor.

Id say I kind of like lois being a few years older than Clark(not to many but still older), and Lex somewhat the same age( probably makes sense to flip that but eh).

CEO of LexCorp? Check.
Mad scientist? Check. (Dude straight-up made Frankenstein's Monster out of General Zod.)

So yeah, mad scientist CEO Luthor's been done. Whether it was done well is an entirely different matter. :funny:

I see the Lex I want being an inventor and a biologists. He cures cancer, and creates inventions that supply free energy, etc etc.
All because he can, more out of boredom instead of the goodness of his heart.

Oh he would, and he would just because he could.
He would then lock it away and use it for a rainy day. A day it would benefit him, ie, running for president

The movie going audience probably think Lex is meant to be that way now, just as they think the only 2 villains Superman has are Lex and Zod.

He is one of a few I think could fit.

Cooper
McConaughey
Pitt
Isaacs
Elba
Fassbender

Fassbender in steve jobs mode would be perfect but it would also be so similar to that performance so idk. McConaughey’s a great call though, especially since Gunn wanted him for Ego before. He could pull off the dangerous allure of Lex’s charisma to a T.

I know he would never do it but I could see the “Rock” Dwayne Johnson playing a live action Clancy Brown Lex Luther. To bad he was hell bent on playing Black Adam.

He can't help but make movies about him. I think we can do without The Rock being in anymore DC films.

I really hope Gunn casts no names and up/comers as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. I really want to see the Trinity on the screen. Not some A lister in cosplay. Although Pattinson’s Batman was remarkable.

The Rock is a Schwarzenegger wannabe, he'll be irrelevant soon.

That's who I advocated for. For years. Alas.

Perhaps it's a good thing his ego and horrible management team got in the way? As I said in my op-ed you would think after quite a few stillborn franchise starters they would restrategize. But again alas. His implosion will only get bigger.

As for my Luthor of choice... Jeremy Allen White from The Bear or - not remotely kidding - Shia.

Unfortunately, most would see the rock as Lex, the Rock and not Lex.

I had a whole list but I'm narrowing it down to two now as favorites.
Matthew McConaughey or Edris Elba.

I think Elba would ham it up, like he did in Hobbs&Shaw and Suicide Squad. I think McConaughey would be perfect, but I don't know if he 'd actually make it.
