The Green Lantern movie thread

Is Green Lantern Going To Be Black Or White????

Not That It Really Matters But I Dont Know Green Lantern Movie Sounds Kinda Gay!
(make Mines Marvel) Movie's That Is!

How does it sound 'gay'? Umm, i dont think he will have a male lover

Ok the Green Lantern movie doesn't sound gay. If you don't like thats find but don't try and bring down the people that actually want see this movie made.
Anyways with 14 to 20 enemies in Hal Jordans rouge gallery there could be up to 14 to 20 movies. Then here are some spinoffs.

A.Preequal Green Lantern (Alan Scot) He has enough supervillains for 4 movies the Nazis would be some of the best villains seeming like elements of the Rocketeer.
B.Ion
C.Sentry
D.Green Lantern Corps The major super hero team that could make as much or more than X-Men. There could up to 10 to 12 movies for this spin off.

i can see him in the role but i think Sinstro should be a fairly slim, tall man though

He could go on one of the Hollywood slim down diets like Tom Hanks did for Cast Away or something, like how Hollywood stars bulk up and slim down for roles.
This would be a slim down role, just nothing to drastic I hope.

Not saying he should do that, but I am just saying that it is possible for him to be slimmer.

I love the Spin off movies, hey if use Hal for the GL movies they can always bring in John Stewart for a spin off GL movie.

Let's be honest we are probally going to see unknowns for
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
Sinestro
and Carol Ferris
Why because it has been a proven success formula for the Superman Christopher Reeve movie series, the WonderWoman live action tv series, and recently again in the new Brandon Routh Superman Returns movie series. Let's not forget the cgi and other parts are going to be eating up the budget to making the power ring look as amazing as expected, the Green Lantern Corps, and Qward. With unknowns they will have plenty of money left for the movie plus it would be logical since this is probally going to be the most expensive dc comics super hero ever. The last thing I want to see is a repeat of the 1989 to 1997 Batman movie trilogy.
Let's face it this movie trilogy focusing has the potentional to be one of the greatest super hero movies ever with more amazing future ones Hal battling other members of his rouge gallery, and not to mention to be one the next great super hero trilogy. The cgi and special effects needed to make the movie is avlaible so I hope that this movie does get made.

I agree that most likely Hal will be an unknown, but I can also see them casting someone semi known for Carol and Sinestro. I can also see a major actor being used for Sinestro just for the draw of his name alone. (not saying they should, but I can see that.)

Sort of like Superman Returns: Superman (unknown), Lois (semi known), Lex Luther (major actor, very well known).

I can even see the 1st three Green Lantern movies being about Hal Jordan.
(with John maybe introduced in the third)
Then the next one being about John, maybe next two or three,
(and by this time start showing more and more of the GL Corps, maybe even introduce Guy Gardner.) (Perhaps even start some of the spin offs here too, like the Alan Scott movie and the GL Corps movie)
then have two or three be about Kyle.

And this way Green Lantern can not only be the great DC movie trilogy, he can become like a James Bond movie franchise where different actors come in to play different Green Lanterns and keep the story going.

Although if they were to go that angle I think would so popular that they would be doing 12 or more movies with him.

Anyways one guy that could really pull of Cillian Murphy who played the main bad guy who was very sinister and phycotic in the Wes Craven Thriller Red Eye, although since he was already Scarecrow in Batman Begins that idea hs been shot down.
But what was the name of the actor that played Drug Kingpin in Bad Boys 2. He already has the hair color, all that is left is for the Sinestro mustache, the superslim look, and all the make up. He sure pulled of playing the main bad guy and I am sure he could do it again as phycotic Sinestro. Sinestro has the potential to be the most evil comic book supervillain on the big screen.

Personally this is how I possibly see the Green Lantern getting
rolling.

2008 Shazam is released and does better at the Box office than Superman
Returns. and Batman Begins. It shows that DC Comics Super Heroes other
than Superman and Batman can make money.

2008 The DC Comics animated movie The New Frontier sells really well
and recieved well with Martin Manhunter as the first lead, and the
other lead by Green Lantern (Hal Jordan). It once again proves that DC
Comics Super Heroes other than Superman and Batman can make money.

PS The rights for a Shazam movie are owned by New Line Cinima not
Warner Brothers even though most of the DC Comics I know of Supes,Bats,
Green Lantern,Flash,Wonderwoman and others I may have forgot are owned
by WB to make movies of them. I found out from www.imdb.com that Shazam
is set to release in 2008. It has listed that Brandon Molale is in
talks to play the very popular magical super hero. He played the Jets
QB in Mr.Deeds the remake, and Lazer in the very funny comedy
Dodgeball, and has played in plenty of other movies and TV shows. What
is even more interesting is a recent pic on www.imdb.com shows him
with a red shazam logo t shirt with the classic logo.
As a result Green Lantern finally gets out of production hell and gets
rolling to get made. The other that is in talks is Dwayne The Rock
Johnson. He is best known probally know for having the lead in the true
story Walking Tall, and was also one of the villains in The Mummy
Returns, reprised his role in characters own movie The Scripion King,
and again in another true story as a coach in the true football story
The Gridiron Gang. Those are some of his movies incase you aren't
familar with him.

Also this that was posted by a user at the DC Comics Movies message
board under the Green Lantern Movie thread.

There is also one other possibility: Early on, the writers of
Smallville said that Green Lantern would be appearing on the show next
year. If that happened, and he went on to be popular, I could see a
movie then being made about him.

I hope it's Hal
Jordan

Also he will be staring with other members of the Justice League and playing a role in the upcoming season of The Batman.

Thats probably very true. Before DC Comics and, I guess, Warner Brothers sinks all that BIG BUDGET MOVIE money into Green Lantern (could end up being the most expensive superhero movie to date) they will need proof that Hal Jordan and Green Lantern will make money.
If Captain Marvel is a success, which I really want this one to be as well, that can help them see that DC has lots of big stars.
Plus having Green Lantern on the Batman, Smallville, and New Frontier, will get the character's name out there and show he can be their next franchise.
And I think thats something else the studio wants to see, not only will they make money from the movie, but that the character will sell lots of stuff.
(and really, how can Green lantern not become a big money making franchise?)
I can see Green Lantern rings being sold in Toys R Us, I see a whole line of Green Lantern toys, like the whol Corps, being sold.
They already sell the John Stewart costume for little kids on Holloween.
I see lots of merchandise.

everyting points to him beeing Captain Marvel..
but he would be MUTCH better as black Adam..

I could see that he would possibly fit the role the Rock of Captain Marvel. He does have the build, acting chops, talent, and depth to pull off the amazing magical super hero. His skin color seems about the same and already has the hair style. But then again the same goes for Brandon Molale.
I think that the Rock would perfect as Namor the bad ass Sub Mariner.

Yes like plenty of Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) action figures along with other ones from movie, Sinestro, Carol Ferris, Guardians, and possible other Green Lanterns like Gnort, Killowog making short appernces. Along with movie t shirts of Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Sinestro, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) battling his archnemesis Sinestro. Plenty of amazing Green Lantern movie posters. Green Lantern toy and replica power rings along with Sinestro power rings, costumes, dolls, the really big action figures, and talking action figures of Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Sinestro.
Hopefully they will also do two other major media solo projects for Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) to get more and more people aware and exited about one of the greatest super heroes in the DC Comics universe.

A.Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) Animated Series Hal Jordan as the lead he could shown longer in updated animation like he is below battling his archnemesis Sinestro in more violent battles since Challenge of the Super Friends restricted them from being as violent as Justice League, Justice League Unlimited. He has up to 14 to 20 enemies in his rouge gallery so this coud go up to 90 episodes or more. This would get more people aware of him, talking, and finally a major small due on the small screen with first own animated series.
B.Green Lantern video game Once again another chance to get people aware of him, talking and more fans. To help promote the movie and get plenty of people exited. You play as Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) going through Coast City, Qward, tranning at the Green Lantern Corps, with more experience your power ring becomes more powerful, and you can purchase the classic Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) costume from his appearnce, along with the pre Parallax Green Lantern costume, and the newest Green Lantern Rebirth Costume. You fight some of Hals deadliest enemies the huge dangerous Shark, the merciless Manhunters, psycotic Blackhand, dangerous genius Sonar, and one of his deadliest enemies the insane Sinestro. You also get other Green Lanterns you can purchase to help you if you want. It's up to you save the Universe with the most powerful weapon in the Universe the power ring as one of the best Green Lanterns Green Lantern (Hal Jordan). Do you have what it takes to beat the deadliest enemies and his archnemeis Sinestro or will it be to much?

I would love to see all of that.
They could even have an "Official" Green Lantern Corps (fan club) for kids and young adults.
Sign up and send money I'd imagin and get a ring and an official membership card.
You also have to think of them changing the costume in the movie to sell items, like shirts with his logo and gloves and masks.
But I also agree that DC and Warner Brothers wont waist time with Green Lantern until they have clear evidance that he is money in the bank.
So not until another film shows success like Captain Marvel, or until his other smaller roles like in New Frontier make him very popular, I don't see DC focussing on him too much.
Because if they make a GL movie I would hope theywould sink all the money they could into it to make the special effects (what with all the using of the ring to make green objects like hands hammers and whatever, and space flying, and action and explosions and what have you) and story and acting the best it could be.
Don't want it to end up like Fantastic Four, where most of the money to work on Silver Surfer leaving little for the rest of the movie.

But once the movie gets made I think the skys the limit in terms of marketing.
a cartoon show, video games, cereal, commercials, clothing, cool clothing for Hot Topic like logos (imagin a Sinestro logo shirt), masks, prop rings, light up toy rings, action figures, dolls, statues, poster, standies, piggy banks, movie trading cards, beach towls, and almost anything else.
And obviously more and more Green Lantern comic books, just like how Marvel put out butt loads of Spider-Man comics that sort of went with the movie (Green Goblin the bad guy in the movie and the comics, then Doc Ock, then Sand Man and Venom.)
I see lots of comic bok stuff coming out for the movie too.
Re-releases of Hal's most recent stories like Rebirth and him becoming Paralax and stuff.

Here are two pics of Hal appearing on the finale of Batman. I have say he is made the transition well with him looking very decent and not ultra crappy like Joker, Robin, and Batgirl. He looks mostly realistic like his comic counterpart. From these pics and the annoucment he will have a role in the upcoming season of The Batman I am very exited. Arent the rest of you die hard Green Lantern fans?

Send your letters to:
Warner Home Video
4000 Warner Blvd
Burbank, CA 91522

Main telephone for Warner Bros. Studios: (818) 954-6000

I have already and requested that they should make a Green Lantern movie based off the dc comics character on the phone. Heres how it works

You say your name, request that you would like to see a Green Lantern movie based off the dc comics character of the same name. If we gets well over 1000 requsts then DC would become aware take notice of this and maybe it would get of productin hell early. Get the word out and this could happen. Even write in letters, we have seen tv series that were supposdly canceled but were resumed because of most the huge fan base. Anyways if they got well over 2,000 letters for people requesting a Green Lantern movie based off the dc comics character then that might show them that the fan base is high and that it wil get made.
I will be writting a letter to WB requesting a Green Lantern movie be made based off the popular dc comics character. If this works you will be apart of the historic event that put Green Lantern out of production hell and finally got made. It's time to get this movie rolling.

Here are pics of a non existent animated Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Sinestro. Hopefully we could see more of them in a actual Green Lantern animated series with Hal as the lead.

You can look at more of them at this site.

Hal looks the best.

9203sinestro1.gif

Sinestro looks more evil than ever. He has meanacing as when he last made his major appearnce on the Superman animated series.

According to the comic book and the cartoon series, I thought that it would be perfectly normal to have all three Green Lanterns - Alan Scott, Hal Jodan, Jon Stewart - show up throughout the Green Lantern movie. The question is which one will be the main protagonist of the movie? I prefer Alan or Hal, but I think that the movie would do fincancially better with Jon Stewart (the movie would sell better to kids - thanks to Jon's heavy presence in the JLA cartoon - and sell better as well to minorities). With all the upcoming superhero movies, if there is a chance to have a black superhero, the producers are going to go with it - especially when the only remaining famous black superhero movies can be done are Black Panther and Luke Cage. Blade, Spawn, and Storm in X-Men were all more or less successful in the cinema. So let Jon Stewart be the one. Plus, he's the only really Green Lantern that is really tough. Alan Scott and Hal Jordan are sort of generic, while Jon Stewart likes to kick ass.

Here's who I would cast:

For Hal Jordan, Nathon Fillon
For Jon Stewart, Michael Jai White or Idris Elba
For Alan Scott and Sinestro, ?

I can't think of anyone who could play Alan Scott. I've heard many say Gary Oldman for Sinestro; not sure if that would conflict with his Batman schedule.

Ok by tough what do you mean?
Seriously it's Hal that has proved himself tough even without the ring.

I read this issue. In this issue Hal Jordan shows his most famous characteristic never giving up. He is strandad in the Antartica with the wind blowing hard, well below 0, and only his costume to keep him warm. He goes through where he encounters a Bear who charges at him and both go in the freezing water. He manages to get out which isn't easy at all and makes it to a Cave. He rests and thenr resumes once again he encounters a wild animal. A wild dog which comes at him he can't dodge him they both go rolling down a hill and he ends up on top of the wild dog. He is well above exhausted ends up dropping many a few times and keeps going inspite of his legs making it hard and should just easily be down but he keeps going. He makes it to the research base.

352837137612952_147.gif

He shows his toughness, and fighting skills no ring in this issue. He manages to take down the inmates with punches, dodges their attacks, use other attacks, gets shot in the shoulder with a gun, and takes beating when they all pile on him and start beating on him. Although its not enough to keep him down as he is still very much alive gets his power ring and gets all them off him with a big green hand.

9174GreenLantern14_2.jpg

Again he proves himself without the ring. Initially after having his hands beaten by the terrorist leader the leader with two henchmen threaten to hurt Jillian Perlman. He breaks through the chain goes launching at the terrorist leader slams his head repeadtly on the ground misses shots and shoots both of his own men. He takes the gun shoots at the other terrorists to get the other Air Force pilot held hostage. He has them shot down way before they pointed their guns.

Then recently again in issue 17 when Abin Sor is about to shot Hal with a laser gun John uses a shield. Not to mention he punches and kicks Abin putting him. Abin puches Hal but it hardly phases him. He made Abin look anything but worthy of the power ring and couldn't frickin finish the job of killing Hal.

Hal seems like the Steven Segal of Green Lanterns. Although he is not majorly skilled in any Martial Arts, and does get hit more to make his comics more inteesting, it's the never say die attitude not giving up, and always seems to really give his opponents a grade a asskicking. They come so close but they just can't seem to beat Hal. He just kicks their ass and he is a major badass.

I can't think of anyone who could play Alan Scott. I've heard many say Gary Oldman for Sinestro; not sure if that would conflict with his Batman schedule.

If the Alan Scott role is a cameo in a Green Lantern movie, like say he is shown talking with Hal about being the previous Green Lantern.
I think Paul Newman would be perfect, since Hal was originally based on Newman. It would be a sort of homage cameo. Plus in the Alan Scott Prequal you can cast someone else who looks similar to Paul Newman.

As much as I like Kyle Rayner, we don't need him in the film . Helllllooooo! Hal Jordan is more than enough to carry this film. To appease the studios, they could put a Top Gun spin to the pilot aspects. And the guy who gets this powerful weapon, trained by Sinestro and then has to fight his teacher.. Just Like Obi Wan with Anikan, except Hal would kick his ass. As for who should play Hal, I'm not sure yet. Since he is my fave hero, I want to take time to ponder this query.Nathan Fillion , seems to be everyone's pick but .I just don't know

Let's go with the ideal pick to play Hal. A unknown.

Except he's way too old and a better fit for Hal.
