Punk will probably drop the title on RAW and take some time off for a bit before he comes back to WWE.

Punk winning the title was purely to create buzz and pop the RAW rating tomorrow. WWE did a terrfic job with the angle tonight
Not sure if serious? Why would he do that? Makes absolutely no sense story-wise. He can have time off and do promos and what have you with the belt via satellite to piss off McMahon.

sadly, as awesome as this was...this is probably all just build up to Cena vs McMahon.

I actually do think that McMahon is needed as a main heel for the time being, since there really is no one credible left to carry a main event feud. The problem is that Cena against the WWE machine rings hollow. It isnt convincing. The crowd could never fully invest in a HHH vs McMahon feud either because many of us couldnt shake the reality of HHH being his son in law from our minds enough to buy the angle. It worked with the rebel Austin and would work with the rebel Punk though...but Punk is gone, so we're probably getting Cena vs McMahon.

What MIGHT be interesting though is if McMahon fires Cena...so WWE is forced to run without their golden boy. Maybe R Truth wants some sort of push and it's revealed that there HAS been a conspiracy to hold him back. Vince and the GM have been plotting against Truth the whole time, along with John Morrison, who returns as a heel working with McMahon to face R Truth. Zack Ryder comes out in support of Truth, as he's also been held down, and McMahon gets Dolph Ziggler to take out Ryder. It can go a lot of ways from there...The Miz turning face and Vince bringing back Cena to beat him down...or the more likely Cena returning to defeat all of McMahons goons single handedly.

...Eh, I don't see him simply dropping the title on Raw. It would be extremely anti-climatic. IF he leaves, he leaves WITH the title.
I really hope McMahon puts a price on Punk's head for anyone that can take the title away from him.

WWE just opened a pandora's box of potential . Eventually it's gonna have to go into the normal cycle of things but these next couple weeks could be epic.

But Punk wants to take time off. He has no other option but to drop the belt. Him winning the belt was nothing more than to create a stronger buzz to get more people to tune into RAW.

They can do a great angle with Punk getting screwed out of the title somehow and bring him back to battle Vince down the road when he comes back

He doesn't have to drop the belt the WWE Can always create a new belt. Besides I think Cena has said that a new belt has been ready for awhile ago.

How do you know he hasn't renewed his contract?

Also they went this far for one night of ratings?

I don't really care what happens next right now.Let's all just bask in this moment,The IWC may never get another night like this.

Who knows what Punk wants/wanted. Saying he needed time off could have just been a negotiation tactic. It could have been because he was being booked like crap. Now that he's the hottest thing in the business and enjoying his job again for the first time in years he might not even want the time off, if he ever truly wanted it in the first place.

Then again he might really just want to sit on his couch and can come back in 6 months for WM with all this momentum. Who knows. All that matters is they got tonight perfectly right and we should enjoy that.

I say make it seem like he's taking the belt with him. Have a tourney for a new title holder. And if/when punk comes back, claim to be the true champeen, because he is, and UNIFICATION match.

I'm not saying he didn't renew his contract, but that has nothing to do with him significant taking time off, which Punk has been telling people he wants to do.

And yes why wouldn't they? WWE is always looking to pop the ratings for the RAW after a PPV. Look how many people they got talking after this show.

Punk could "steal" the belt as away of getting rid of that type of belt as I think the WWE Title will be back to a more conventional look.

Punk would still retain the physical belt but the outcome would be the same: Punk would no longer be champ. Only difference would be if he comes back he could claim he never lost it by getting pinned for it. That would be the biggest thing he could have going for him if/when he returns.

I suppose he COULD "defend" his belt outside of WWE but in this day in age I have doubts WWE would do that...and if he's serious about taking time off I doubt he'll work a lot of indy shows but maybe enough to keep the story going.

But if Punk does leave for an extended period I think WWE will want to put someone over as the new champ just to make them look good.

We shall see. I think they wouldn't have done the Del Rio bit after the win had they not intended on doing something on RAW to screw Punk out of the title

— CM Punk did it. He opened a black hole in the WWE Universe, seizing the WWE Championship in his hometown within his final hours as a contracted employee of Vince McMahon, sufficiently embarrassing The WWE Chairman and conquering a now-fired John Cena, “The Champ.”

Averting the last-ditch desperate measures of The Chairman of the Board – including an attempted Montreal-esque Chicago Screwjob and a cash-in coup by Money in the Bank contract winner Alberto Del Rio – Punk escaped the Allstate Arena with the WWE Title and its 63-year lineage as he blew Mr. McMahon and WWE a kiss goodbye.

What if Punk goes on Raw tomorrow and burns that crappy spinner belt in the trash?

Punk is signed.

There is no way they A.) let him say all the things he said the past couple weeks B.) debut new merchandise in his "last match" and C.) walk out of the PPV with the title if he wasn't signed.

Also, Triple H coming back to take the title from CM Punk would be beyond epic. I will mark out so hard to see Triple H come out and go after Punk.

Also - Cena will be getting the title back before Mania. There's no way they hype up Cena v. Rock so hard as a title match, only for CM Punk to be the title match going into Mania. Cena will get the title back.

Did it ever cross your mind that Punk was lying when he said he wanted time off?

-After the PPV ended, the referees helped up WWE executive John Laurinaitis, and he made it back up the ramp about three quarters of the way, and then he was leveled by Vince McMahon.

:hehe:

We shall see I guess.

Yeah they'll oversell anything to get the ratings but they should be concerned about the long run and maybe changing the direction of the company. This angle is really hot right now and could bring back a lot of fans.

One thing i really liked about tonight. No stupid skits and plenty of action.

Well if you look at pics of Punk in that shirt, it was a special one made for the arena tonight, with CHICAGO and the date on it, so that doesn't give us much information. He could have just signed an extension through tomorrow night to take the belt off of him, or if he's not on tomorrow have just taken the belt from him tonight before he went home, with the idea that he'll come back way later after he's rested up.

I still think he might not be going anywhere, or at least I'm hoping that, but we really can't assume. Tonight was great, now it's time to sit back and watch how it all plays out.

well, RAW is certainly going to be interesting, to say the least.......lol
