The Gun Thread

I'd love to get a gun safe but if I move that thing would be a bear to move. I should turn one of my closets into a gun safe.

Share the gun picks man. let's see the safe too.

Here are a couple of new pics of my AR. Took them this morning. Not trying to be artsy, these were taken with my phone. I will take some sleek angled pics with my Sony Cybershot later.

Pics of the safe to come later.

Nice. Is that an Eotech or a knock off? I've thought about getting one for my AR, but they are pretty expensive.

EoTech XPS 2.0
Same as this one:
http://www.amazon.com/EOTech-XPS2-0...XJJC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323801770&sr=8-1

If you get an EoTech, get the XPS 2.0 and not the 552, 512, etc. The XPS does not have some of the problems that those other models have (like the batteries rattling loose because of recoil). Check out the amazon reviews-all 5 stars!

I am now looking for a 5x magnifier to go along with it, just one that won't break the bank.

Some safe pics

EDIT: removed pics.
This is the shelf I added. There is a shelf above it as well that is full of mags and ammo. As I stated, this is a small safe, so I had to add some stuff in order to make use of the little bit of space. I simply laid this shelf on the barrel rests already installed. Because my 2 ARs are pretty short compared to like a 26" barreled shotgun, I was able to do this. You can barely see the hanging hooks I added underneath. This was the first day, its a little bit more organized now.

A better shot of the hooks with ear protection, handcuffs and a set of gloves hanging on them. There is also now an LED light mounted underneath this shelf so you can see down below.

A shot of the patches that I put on the inside of the door. I have already moved some things around and now the door has 2 pistol holsters underneath these patches. You can see the edge of the top shelf that came installed in the upper left corner of this pic.

I like it the safe. Looks good. I may have to get that Eotech sometime. $480 is a lot to spend on it right now.

Picked this up last night

CZ 75 P07 duty in 9mm
It had some issues when first released, but according to my thorough research, those have been corrected and it has gotten very high reviews from users (checked bud's gun shop reviews) and multiple gun magazines.

Never really liked CZ's, but that polymer one sparks my interest. May have to check one out.

Thats how I felt until I held this one. Great ergonomics and some cool features. Plus it holds 16+1 in a fairly small, light frame.
And the price couldnt be beat!

I was actually looking at one of the HK compacts...but to be honest I like the service-sized USP I already have better and I'm still looking into a compact polymer double-action. I'll see if I can try one of these out.

Cant go wrong with an H&K. I was considering a HK P30 before I saw this 9mm at half the price.

My favorite handgun that I own is my HK USP 45 (full size). I also shoot it better than my Glock, Keltec, Smith, etc etc.

Haven't gone shooting in a while, but wanted to make a few trips to the range and pick up a new compact. My CCW is in CT, so I have to go up there and keep a safe in my folks place up there (I live mostly in NYC). Property in my name so I can claim residency for permit, etc. But been a while. Like what some manufacturers are coming out with, don't like others....but admittedly still familiarizing myself with some new products. My gave pistol from a pure shooting perspective is my Browning P-35. USP 40 is one of the only double-actions I like, I'm mostly a single-action/1911/Glock guy. Sigs I like, but don't particularly like the high bore axis. CZ's, I liked the axis and grip angle, but didn't like how they shot. What I'd really lie to get is a lever-action carbine. But we'll see.

Very nice buy.
I haven't bought anything in a while. I'm dying to pick up something new or build my next AR, but it can wait. it's winter and I'm not going out to the range and freezing my butt off like I did last year. I'll spend the winter stocking up on the ammo here and there. I did get 100 rounds of 9mm for Christmas.

LOL. It was in the 70s here all last week. Its cooler today, but nothing more needed than a hoodie.

As Paul Kersey said: I don't fear guns, what worries me is the fools who think that they can resolve everything with them.

I'm ashamed to say I was careless with my new glock 22 and in a hurry forgot to check the chamber and shot my hand. It could have been a lot worse. I am familiar with guns and respect them and I still made a mistake. I just want to say please be careful everyone and always remove the mag and check the chamber.

I will still continue to use guns but my awareness and respect for thier power and capabilities has increased one hundred fold. I don't want anyone to go through this. On top of the humiliation the pain is excruciating and all this was completely avoidable had I handled the weapon properly.

Holy crap dude...glad you're okay, especially since that caliber's no plinker. And with a Glock, it's not going to be 'tripped' like a single-action, so you must have really assumed that it was empty. Thankfully it wasn't worse, and yeah, from now on, making sure the chamber is how you intend it to be should be the absolute first thing. Hope you heal well.

I have a pair of .38 Ruger Vaqueros which I use for target shooting.

Aye,

Shouts to SHH for being he first forum with a thread on Guns. It's so bad ass to just look at a forum that says "The Gun Thread", and just jump in here and see people that actually go around and shop and pick up guns.

I was wondering, how do you guys get into this.. "collecting hobby"..?

Yeah, I was multitasking and didnt have my full attention on the gun. It was pure foolishness. I was by myself too. Luckily I was able to get pressure on the wound and get to my neighbor for help. I had full metal jacket rounds in it instead of hollow points so it just passed through my hand. A hollow point would have taken a chunk of my hand with it.

It went in the base of my thumb and came out the back of my hand between my ring finger and pinky knuckle. It evaporated 5mm of metacarpal bone so my ring finger is shorter. I have three rods in my hand, and I had to have some tendons transplanted. It shredded the tendons that allow the hand to open, and the median nerve so Ive got a long road to recovery. By some miracle the nerves that allow me to feel moved out of the way of the bullet so I still have feeling in all five fingers.

Im definitely going to use this as an example to others of what can happen when you dont handle guns with the appropriate amount of caution and attention.

I appreciate the well wishes.

Aww man...if you had like low-penetration hollowpoints or something, you could have had some permanent damage there. Just be (very) thankful and even more respectful, it's a moment of naivite but hopefully not carelessness on your part. Definitely a sobering reminder to the responsibility a gun owner takes on, which takes an extra level of care and commitment.

I'm more into firearms as a range/target hobby than actual carrying. I've always lived in pretty safe areas, so rarely ever felt a need to carry concealed, even though I have a permit. I was shooting targets from a very young age (still have a Savage .22 that I've had since age 7), so it just carried through to not only the hobby, but an appreciation of the engineering behind it as well. I don't hunt, but do fish and that's really the only time I've carried for protection...in the isolated woodsy areas where a bear or local interested in taking your belongings in the middle of nowhere could reach you. And for that, I have a 4" Ruger GP100. But mainly, I'm a hobby shooter...and less often over the years.

I've been a gun enthusiast since I was a kid. I would learn whatever I could about military weapons. I had my conceal carry at 21 along with my first pistol. I then sold it and my 12 gauge a few years later. Just a couple of years ago, I bought my 9mm for home protection and then I found my 1911 that somewhat looks like the ones in the 2004 Punisher movie. I then started going to gun shows and bought a Hi-Point 9mm carbine. I would call it a starter carbine rifle. They are cheap and fun to shoot. I then found a Colt M4 rifle with a 37mm launcher and bought that. I really got back into the whole gun thing again and built an AR15. I'm now looking to purchase another pistol to keep in my truck and build an AR "sniper rifle". I've been invited twice to shoot on the local military base where we've shot the Aug Steyr, Barret .50 caliber and different types of AR rifles. I love talking guns with people and going to the range and getting out some frustrations.

Damn dude. I'm sorry to hear that. Multitasking and guns definitely do not mix. What caliber of Glock was it? I'm glad it didn't end up worse for you.
