The Gun Thread

I'm ashamed to say I was careless with my new glock 22 and in a hurry forgot to check the chamber and shot my hand. It could have been a lot worse. I am familiar with guns and respect them and I still made a mistake. I just want to say please be careful everyone and always remove the mag and check the chamber.

I will still continue to use guns but my awareness and respect for thier power and capabilities has increased one hundred fold. I don't want anyone to go through this. On top of the humiliation the pain is excruciating and all this was completely avoidable had I handled the weapon properly.

Wow. Glad to hear that you are alright. I hope everyone can learn from your lesson.

Aye,

Shouts to SHH for being he first forum with a thread on Guns. It's so bad ass to just look at a forum that says "The Gun Thread", and just jump in here and see people that actually go around and shop and pick up guns.

I was wondering, how do you guys get into this.. "collecting hobby"..?

Well, I dont consider myself a gun collector. Yes, I have multiple guns with multiple calibers.
But, I am in law enforcement and enjoy shooting. So, I do buy guns and sometimes I keep them and sometimes I realize that they are not exactly what I want and I sell them.

As soon as I was old enough to own a gun and get a concealed carry permit, I did. And, as stated, a short time later I was in law enforcement and have been for over 10 years now.

Damn dude. I'm sorry to hear that. Multitasking and guns definitely do not mix. What caliber of Glock was it? I'm glad it didn't end up worse for you.

It was a .40 s&w.

The Sig Sauer P226-MK25 has been declassified and is available to civilians now. It's a little pricey at $1200 though. The sidearm of the Navy SEALS.

Yeah, but for $1200 I can get a really good AR.

Another great channel on YouTube is Hickok45's. He's an older very experienced shooter. He has 551 videos of reviews comparisons closeups info and tips.

Check out him hitting a target 230 yards away with a Glock 23. He does this quite often with different guns, but his reviews and info is where its at.

As a long-time Glock-owner....that Walther PPQ has sparked my interest. I'm trying to gauge if it's any different from the first P99's...which I tried but didn't quite like way back when it first came out. From what I can gather, they've settled on a more 'Glock-like' firing/trigger striker action (one which I've always liked) than the stranger various actions they had in the past.

The PPQ is suppossed to hasve a great trigger. I haven't shot one, but I did hold one the other day, and I was very disappointed in the grip. Ergonomics were good, but the texture was lacking. It didn't feel like it would stick in my hand. The grip also made it feel like a toy in my hand for some reason.

From the descriptions, it's very much like the Glock, but the whole reset mechanism is supposed to feel much more intuitive, etc. The grip does look a bit wonky, though. I come from a single-acrtion auto background, so I found the Glock to be very easy to acclimate to and like, as opposed to long double-action pulls or a trigger break all the way back in the guard. there are actually some double-action-only auto designs out there that'd I'd prefer to standard double-action autos, like the Kahr.

I've always found the Glock takeup to actually aid in pistol grip and steadying. According to the PPQ specs, it's about a 3.5lb takeup, and then a 5-ish lb break, which is actually really good if it's crisp. 4.5-5 is what I prefer on 1911's and Browning Hi-Powers. Anyway, I might give one a go.

I really like glocks trigger also. If you do shoot a ppq let us know how it is.

Thats impressive. Especially because hes using a Glock. :oldrazz:

Since we are sharing youtube favorites and talking about the Walther PPQ, check out nutnfancy's review of it. If you dont know who he is, you are missing out. He has done hundreds of great, comprehensive reviews on guns for quite a while.

Yeah Hickok45 is awesome. He did it with a sub-compact and a shotgun slug too. He's been my source and helped me learn alot about different guns.
I watch Fancy's videos too. I had already watched a review by Hickok of the PPQ but I'll check out Fancy's review too.

I'm glad YouTube has some genuinely good gun info channels. Imo it makes learning more fun.

I hate to say it, but Youtube videos helped me disassemble my Hi-Point carbine and build my AR15. There really are some great videos to learn about guns. Unfortunately, I get duped by some of that air soft crap too. I now know that as soon as I see a pimply teenager to stop it and keep on looking.

I got only a .22LR italian revolver...
well, i'm just a chilean gas station employee...

Heck, whatever you can work with. It may be a small bullet, but its still gonna sting like ***** and slow an attacker down.

Here's my current setups for all of my rifles.

I've been thinking of picking up one or two of these bad boys
m11_9_right.jpg

Cobray M11 in 9mm. They are really cheap at under $300 and could be fun on the gun range and cheap to shoot.

Im looking at picking up a Keltec sub2000.

That is one ugly gun. haha Pretty cool how it folds up.

Yeah I thought it was ugly myself. Some of the tricked out ones look cool.

I figured I would share this site for others. slickguns.com They post deals for all kinds of gun sites. Some of the deals are really good too.

Ive got a co-worker offering to sell me a Walther PPK/S. He brought it to work today and it looks awesome, like its never been fired. He wants $400 straight up (this includes 2 mags and box, paperwork). Prices online are about $550.

Same one as this:

I honestly was hoping that it would be the stainless/nickel finish, like James Bond.
Not sure what I should do....

It could be a good conceal carry in an ankle holster or one you keep locked up in your vehicle.

These are photo's of the pistol i'm in the process of customizing at the moment. I'm just waiting for my compensators to arrive.
