The Gun Thread

^With the compensators it makes me think of Leon: The Professional.

I love my Beretta 92fs, but I have not fired it in close to three years. I'm thinking about selling it. Part of me still wants to find a Colt Python in good condition or a S&W model 19.

I believe Leon did use the 92fs with compensators.

I'd love to find a Python, but I just can't see spending that much for a pistol.

Yes those are the pistol's Leon used in The Professional. That's my main inspiration for taking on this project.

Which do you guys prefer, Glock or SIG-Sauer? And more specifically the Glock 19 or the 9mm SIG-Sauer P229?

I'm not a Glock fan at all. Unless I can snag the rare Glock 18.
I would definitely go for the Sig.

That guy on YouTube, Nutnfancy gave the P250 an extremely favorable review. I just wish it was available for rental at the range I go to.

I've always preferred a sleeker, hammer-less design so I generally just like Glocks better. They're simple and straight-forward, no levers or hammers to get snagged on. Just a trigger (no safety) and a magazine release. I have a Glock 17 (19 but larger) and it's one of my favorite guns. Quality wise, they're two of the best, maybe the best, brands out there, so you can't really go wrong.

I like Sigs over Glocks, personally, but a Glock is damn reliable in my opinion. I have qualified with that same Sig (229) for a job previously, but the next of my career its been all Glock 23s.

I dont personally own either at the moment and I prefer my HK USP over both BY FAR.

The no safety is my biggest gripe about Glocks. I guess that little flip or click makes me feel more at ease when handling a pistol.

And a lot of people feel that way about Glocks and other pistols like them. It is usually the 1911 lovers that state that and as I recall, you are a 1911 guy, so that makes sense.

That doesnt matter to me (the lack of an external safety) because of the style of training I have had. To each their own.

Yeah I love my 1911's. I fired Glocks and they are nice though. Just not for me.

Which machine pistol do you guys think is better, the Beretta 93R or the CZ 75 Auto?

Got a gun show coming this weekend and I actually have some things that I am shopping for.
I am currently doing Extreme Makeover:AR15 Edition. I already bought those Dueck Defense/Surefire angled iron sights that I linked earlier (post #204 above). I got a grip pod also....still looking for a new muzzle break and maybe a Magpul UBR stock.

Well, I see it as no different than carrying a doudble-acton revolver, really. I've always felt more 'comfortable' carrying a Glock than, say, a condition 1 'cocked and locked' 1911, even though that's very safe as well.

I love the Sig's grip angle and grip shape, but I ultimately don't prefer the higher bore axis. The Glock naturally points high but it's plenty instinctual to correct it upon pointing....and its lower bore/site axis makes it feel more like it's pushing straight back, than more twisting like a Sig.

I have a .40 USP as well, and it's probably my favorite double-action auto-pistol. But as a pure shooter, it's my Browning P-35 first, and the Glocks and 1911's tying second.

I found it kind'a funny at first that being someone who grew up a 'single-action' guy, I'd like something like the Glock which has a takeup. I think I realized it's about the fact that the triggers breaks somewhere in middle of the guard...or that's where your finger is. For me and my relatively long fingers, there's a natural steadiness of not having to squeeze my trigger finger far back towards my palm like on the single-action release of most double-action guns. And the little takeup on a Glock actually gives me extra steadiness on target unlike the longer sweeping pull of a normal double-action. I.e. my hand just doesn't feel as good what trigger break on double-actio pistols as it does on 1911/Browning and Glock pistols.

The next thing i really want to try is the Walther PPQ.

A 1911 with a long trigger and a P-35 also break at relatively mid-travel in the guard, so that was sort of a natural crossover to Glocks.

Forgot to point out that the nicest double-action-only auto pull I've fired is on the Kahr K9 and the compact MK9. Some of the older 3rd generation S&W DAA's had an okay pull, but he Kahr just seems more specifically and elegantly designed around that kind of action, and something about it cycling a lighter striker instead of a hammer probably has a lot to do with it.

I almost bought a Kahr the other day (CW40). But the guy sold it before I could get there with my cash!

The original K9 and MK9's are the ones to have as far as shooting quality, IMO. I especially like the MK9.

My dad and I are going to be hitting up a local gun shop here on the 21st. He's going to buy two handguns. He's looking at a Ruger MKII in 9mm for himself and a .380 for my step mom. I'm hoping to pick up a smaller 9mm for conceal carry and possibly another AR lower to start my next build or a slide fire stock. Pictures will be forthcoming.

My new conceal carry. A lot lighter than my heavier 9mm. This is a Taurus PT 111 Pro in 9mm. Shoots great.

My pop also picked up a Smith and Wesson 9mm and a Ruger .380 for his conceal carry.

My newest build so far. Lanco Tactical (local gun shop) lower with an Ergo sure grip and a Magpul PRS stock.

I ordered the scope and bipod Saturday night and hope to have them this week. The upper may take a few months as it's going to be around $1000.

Just thought I would add my latest creation.
