The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread

It couldn't be just wanting something bigger since Horner scored Aliens, Titanic and Avatar which all have fairly big scores.

Maybe it just came down to Webb and Horner not seeing eye to eye.

I think for Horner it was just a one-time thing with no commitment. TASM1 was testing the waters a little bit, and I think it was cheaper to hire him back then. For the sequel they probably wanted to get someone much better and pay more money.
They probably wanted something bigger and better than what Horner provided on the first film, so they decided to look for a different composer.

My thoughts exactly.

Zimmer isn't a composer that will say, "these action scenes write themselves." Can't believe that is how Horner works...

Horner's golden moments in TASM are Peter handstanding, all Peter and Gwen, Ben's death (awesome), main theme at the high school hallway in piano at the end of the movie...

Agreed completely. And, of course, his score is only lacking during the action sequences IMO.

They really do. But omg Zimmer? I'm so spoiled with this series. Getting everything I want.
Honestly, at this point its all about the script. We have the actors, the characters, a great director, a musical supergroup led by Zimmer, and a whole movie filmed in NYC. All the cards are laid out for them, so its a matter of how good the script is.

Exactly. They got the big guns out. Just need to make sure they're loaded right. (This is the second analogy I've tried to make in this forum in under fine mins)

I dunno about that. Webb had nothing but praise for Horner and loved what he created. Either Horner didn't want to come back for whatever reason, i.e. scheduling conflict, or the decision came from above Webb, imo.

I agree. I'd also add the entire 'Becoming Spider-Man' track/scene that starts with Peter landing in the wrestling ring and eyeing the mask in the poster to doing the handstand to dropping that criminal right in front of the Police Station and ends with Spidey landing on the side of that building as a mirror image of the suit. That whole cue(s) was so well done.

Ah true. Those female "tribal" ah's kick in.

Becoming Spider-Man and The Bridge are freakin' incredible.

tomorrows the day someone goes to listen to the score and watch clips of tasm2

I envy whoever that person is. Then again seeing a few rough scenes might ruin the film when its complete.

As a musician, I think I'd be willing to suffer through some spoilers. I could still enjoy the movie. I just wouldn't be as surprised. But a chance to meet THE Hans Zimmer? I wouldn't pass it up. ;)

True, and it also means that you would have donated money towards a good cause in the process. :)

Main Theme, Becoming Spider-Man, Ben's Death and End Titles.

Those were great themes IMO. I didn't like how Horner handled action but other than that I really liked his score.

He tried interesting things and at least I could hum the main theme. Can any of you hum Thor or Cap? No they were generic :o

Actually, I can hum Cap & Thor's theme. Done it on multiple occasions. I can't hum the Horner SM theme, because I have to also go "NYEAAAAHHHH UHHHHHH" when I do. :oldrazz:

"Humm hum hum HUUUUM....hum hum huuum HUUUM...hum hum huuum HUUUM... hum hum huuum HUUUUM huuuum"

sorry if im not very good at translating Humming but this is the closest i can do

I know what the theme is. lol

of course, just clarifying that THAT is the spider-man theme, not that i didn´t see what you tried to do, in fact is funny, the screaming at the begging, the first time i heard the Main theme in the teathers, i thought "Is this Spider-man or the Lion King?" after the thrumpets started i liked it
