The Healthy Hypesters Challenge

Eating healthy has never been too much of a problem for me. Something I've been forced to do since I was 17 because of my kidney transplant. Exercise on the other hand has been a huge frustration. Its been nearly impossible for me to find the right type of workout for my condition. I have high blood pressure because of my meds, and I can never figure out the line between where I'm pushing myself too hard, or not pushing myself hard enough.

I don't really know why but I am still loosing weight (according to the scale), but I feel fatter. It's weird.

ive had ppl tell me it looks like i've lost weight and all, but i just don't see it. if anything, i feel the same as you do.

but i was super excited to put them jeans on today :woot:

also i think i downed like 2 or 3 litres of water today for sure.

working at a grocery store is tough cuz of all the junk you want to eat but all week this week i've been doing really good. on my lunch break i'll grab a bag of salad mix, a thing of that sliced up chicken chunks, and a small packet of dressing. then i'll heat up th chicken in the microwave, throw it in my salad and mix it all up. costs me about 4 bucks for everything but its cheaper than the salad place in the food court that charges like twice as much

At meals, before you chow down, drink a tall glass of water. It'll help you manage overeating and will fill you up quicker. Also drink water throughout your meals. They say sometimes when you think you have a craving, often your body is really just thirsty.

You know, I applied this last night. My stomach was growling and I felt really hungry before bed, so I drank a glass of water and had half an apple. Great advice.

Mdizzle i've added you to the list

Sweet thanks! I went to the gym last nite and did some work on my legs. I find it's hard to get motivated to go, even though the gym is literally a 6 minute drive from my place :D. But I've learned that, even though you don't feel like going at the time, if you just force yourself to go, you get into it the minute you step into the gym and see other ppl pumping weights and sweating up a storm.

For other gym users, I've got a suggestion: I know it's hard to do this, seeing as we live busy and often unpredictable lives, but try to establish a routine--see if you can plan your day in advance and schedule a set time to hit the gym. If you leave it up to, "oh, I'll go when I get around to it," or "I'll go, but sometime later," often it never happens. Set a time, for example, be leaving your house by 7 pm, no later. See if that helps you stick to the plan.

Glad I could help! They say you should stop eating around 6 or 7 at night I think, cuz your metabolic rate slows down or whatever--but trust me, that's really hard to do, so I'm on the same page! If you can, try to limit yourself to less than 100 calories after that time. And I swear by the water trick.

Also...if you brush your teeth earlier, it can help deter you from having a snack later...of course, you could always go back and brush them again after having eaten, but if your mouth feels clean and minty-fresh, maybe you will be less likely to chow down. Food tastes weird right after you've brushed your teeth.

Broke into triple digits for running in March, ran about 105 miles throughout the month. Missed my long run this past weekend, but feeling pretty confident that it won't hurt the training all that much.

64 days without a cigarette.

to celebrate my dropping 2 jean sizes, i treated myself to a flat iron i'd been wanting for a while and a new piece of furniture

that's great. how are your cravings?

On and off. I don't really notice much anymore. I know that I don't do it, but it doesn't really bother me much.

I'm a born again non-smoker.

I dropped a jean size! And a bra size...

Did you get the Chi?

i was at target and they had a conair one on sale like half off for 32.00 so i decided to go ahead and get it. i reallylike it though

trying to seriously gain some muscle, gain 20 pounds of pure muscle by the end of the year. wish me luck :D

I don't know if I've ever posted in here before, but I just smoked my last cigarette a little while ago . . . I'm quitting. This is just the start to many other health goals that will be better aligned after this accomplishment . . .

It's easy. I'm on day 68 of no more smoking. Just remember, that last one, was your LAST one.

20lbs? Holy crap man, it's taken me 4 years to gain 30.

I'd love to add another 30, but I just don't see that happening without juicing. At least not while staying ripped.

I'm getting married in June, I'd like to break 195 (gain 3 pounds) and get down below 7% bodyfat. (I'm hovering at about 10 or 11 I think)
