Can we please just get a Nas and Az album so I can die a happy man. With production by (9th wonder, Dj Premier and Kanye West.

The "twittersphere" and the rest of the internet are blowing the f*** up after Kendrick's verse on Big Sean's new song. HE basically called out all the big newer rappers. Drake, A$AP Rocky, Big KRIT, and more

A nuclear bomb just went off in the hip-hop game. Finally, the peace is broken.

Jay Electronica is on the track and Kendrick drops his name as well lol

I'm all for this if it gets some great tracks out of other rappers and gets them to raise there game lyrically.

Hell Kendrick should of gone even harder and not just call out his good contemporariness he sees as rivals but the terrible contemporariness who are bad rappers although he probably wouldn't have enough time on the track for all of them ;)

The thing is he didnt really insult them that that much. It's not 50 Cent "How to Rob" levels of disrespect.

I mean clearly unless your sensitive all it should do is make you step your game up and not diss. Hell he "dissed" Jay Electronica and Big Sean and they were on the track with him

I've never seen something get so much traction on Twitter. The #Kendrickdidntcallout hashtag is hilarious.

Yeah, it was hardly insulting at all. Dude's just trying to make the rap game competitive again.

Kendrick's intentions were not to diss, it was to spark up the competetion. He said he has love for all of them. His verse is just saying he's stepping his game up, what are you doing?

Kendrick Lamar is a freaking genuis... he has revived hip hop. Hopefully this sparks no more collabs. Hip Hop may make a drastic change.

IT BEGINS!

And I like that I was watching a Styles P interview a while back and he says hip hop is too friendly and I kinda agree. Im not saying that there should be serious rap beef or anything like that, but it just seems that no one is really competing. The closest thing we got recently, I guess, was Yeezus and Born Sinner dropping the same day.

I think Sean made a mistake putting it on his album though. The term "getting murdered on your own track" is taken to a whole nother level on Control.

I think the need for competition disappeared when rappers with literally nothing to say started getting paid big bucks. If you and the other top guys can get rich rapping about whatever the hell 2Chains raps about, no need to try to outrap those guys.

I'm most looking forward to hearing Pusha T's response. Not even sure why he namedropped Drake though...c'mon.

I mean, Im not his biggest fan, but Drake is one of the bigger hip hop artists out right now so I can see why his name was dropped

I hope more than the vets answer the call. I already know Joell Ortiz is a lyrical beast, but he should have used his own beat. WOuld have been better.

maybe im a pessimist but I dont think this verse i going to change anything. I hear/read a lot of people saying that this is going to be a turning point for hip hop. But i seriously doubt it

It's more than the words of the lyrics. Don't underestimate the power of calling out competition. Trust, this is just the beginning.

Ill believe it when I see it. I feel that by OCtober we will barely be mentioning this. Of course in December and January when people are doing the 2013 Hip Hop rundown this will be one of the big moments, but look:
-J. Cole might respond but I feel he wont
-Big KRIT I doubt it
-Wale will mention it in interviews. Unless he gets on that "Ambition" kick. Sidebar: I dont think Wale is that respected among his peers anyway
-Pusha T i could see responding
-Meek Mill i dont take him seriously when it comes to competition the way he challenged and ducked Cassidy. Besides this was his response "“Kendrick Lamar, I don’t think he was trying to insult any of us, you know. We all know each other personally," Meek said. “There were a lot of names that weren’t mentioned. I like those type of games. I definitely don’t think it was an insult. It was a competition thing. A competitive type thing. I live for competition. Everyone who knows me knows I don’t want to lose in a game of nothing. I don’t want to lose in a game of tic-tac-toe. I’m not going to make a diss record for Kendrick Lamar. But if he wants to get competitive, we’re going to have some fun.”
-A$AP Rocky. I could see him saying something.
-Drake, Big Sean. Will laugh it off in interviews but that's it. I mean the fact that Big Sean let Kendrick do that on a verse on his album says it all I think.
-Jay Electronica. Nothing from him.
-Tyler the Creator. He'll probably laugh and say he doesnt give a sh** because that's his personality/persona
-Mac Miller will laugh about it in interviews

The thing about it is all the people Kendrick called out have no reason to respond imo. 1) it's not gonna sell records which a lot of them care about 2) i think a lot of them know they cant even compete with Kendrick and I dont mean that as an insult. 3) hip hop is too friendly.
As I already broke-down, most will probably just mention it in an interview or a subliminal. That's what the rap game is now

If something like this dropped 10 years ago when hip hop was still pretty aggressive and cutthroat I'd be watching with a lot more anticipation. Or even if this was a year or two ago and Kendrick was still coming up and not seen as the hottest MC in the game or the savior of hip hop. Most of the people who will respond are smaller up and comers and the Joell Ortizes of the world. Non

This is the 2013 How to Rob. The problem with that How to Rob wouldnt have the same effect in 2013 as it would now.

I kinda agree. Who depends on who responds to it and if Kendrick responds back again.

Please. Gimmie a break. All he was trying to do was stir up a little controversy and all the hypebeasts and hip hop heads bought into it. He's a good rapper for today's standards but really, most of them don't even set the bar that high. No one is gonna remember this lame 15 years from now.

I wouldnt say that. I do think he'll be remembered. Whether you like him or not you have to realize that good kid, mAAD city received great acclaim and is one of the most talked about and revered rap albums in the last 5 years

So far heres who replied on wax
Joell Ortiz
B.o.B
Fred the Godson
at least that I know of.
Lupe aactually said something about it on twitter, but Ive stopped listening and respecting Lupe a bit back

A very true tweet said that the ones he mentioned shouldn't feel threatened, it's the ones he didn't that are gonna feel like ****. Regardless, it was hardly a dangerous move. Like Blackman broke it down, aside from maybe Pusha T none of those guys have the balls or the skill to actually try anything. And he shows in his lyrics that he obviously still respects them all.

Changing the face of hip hop? Come on. How many times is that said a year? I'm not trying to deface people's hopes but music is a business. Sissyfied materialist rhymes sell records. What idiot is going to change the formula because Kendrick called them out? The fact that he called out Big Sean and Jay on the track speaks volumes.
