The Hip Hop/Rap Thread - Part 2

Appreciate it
So on the topic of Houdini, I can definitely see why someone would absolutely despise it. Other than the unnecessary diss towards Megan Thee Stallion, I actually didn't mind it.

I liked how playful the best was, the song itself was a sample of another classic song, and this song itself reminded me of Holla atcha by Bizarre.

As a kid I loved Eminem, but as an adult I can’t listen to more than 5 seconds. His voice is annoying, subject matter sucks. Just rhyming words isn’t impressive to me. People claim Em is the goat. Probably not in my top ten and Nas is the goat.

The bolded is the key. I don't think he's the goat, but I do believe he's one of the goats. The goat to me is Rakim. I think Eminem really knows how to rap, how to flow, how to be an MC, but so much of the time the actual stuff he raps about is garbage nonsense.

Yep. I can't really listen to Eminem anymore. Em's stuff was great when I was a kid but I'm like 'meh' whenever I hear his new music as an adult

ngl I like Houdini. I enjoyed Eminem having fun, a few lines were quite funny, and a very nostalgic video. Him saying f- his kids is hilarious and wholesome at the same time, in a way that only makes sense in Eminem's world. Curious to see what the album will be like.

New Lupe Fiasco album on Friday. The singles have been great so I'm excited for that.

Rapsody dropped her new album 'Please Don't Cry' recently and it's probably my favourite this year so far. She's so good.

Yeah. 'Samurai' on the 28th. He's released some quality work in the later half of his career but he's not on a major anymore so it's all pretty low key.

the new JPEGMafia is pretty good but i think my favorite hip hop album of the year is still Lupe Fiasco

New Clipping album, Dead Channel Sky is great. This album moves on from the horror core of the previous album. It was influenced by cyberpunk. Could picture a couple of the tracks featuring in Apple's neuromancer adaptation.
