Or just have David Bateson do the role? Obviously I've never seen any of the films he's been in or seen his stage work. But from what I've read he has experience in films and is an accomplished stage actor, also add to the fact that his face is used for Agent 47 and he does the voice as well.

So why not go for Bateson? Yes, he is an unknown and everything, but it wouldn't hurt to give him a shot as he's been campaigning long and hard for the role too.

It's better than watching Vin Diesel screw it up.

i hate how vin desal is always picked to play certain parts just because hes bald

Timothy Olyphant Confirmed for Hitman
Source: Variety
January 18, 2007

Variety has confirmed the rumors that Timothy Olyphant (Live Free or Die Hard) has been cast in the lead role, Agent 47, in the Luc Besson-produced Hitman at 20th Century Fox. Newcomer Xavier Gens will direct.

The trade says that Fox sees the film as having franchise potential, and Olyphant's deal allows for sequels.

Production is slated to begin in March in Europe. Skip Woods' script is based on the "Hitman" videogame franchise set in the world of Agent 47, a genetically engineered assassin.

Besson is producing via his Europa Corp., along with Chuck Gordon and Adrian Askarieh. Daniel Alter co-produces.

Vin Diesel was previously attached as the lead but opted out to star in Fox's big-budget tentpole Babylon A.D.

I see slipped in under the cover of the Olyphant casting announcement is the fact they have hired a first timer to direct

Xavier Gens signing for Hitman is a major coup

He is a great up and coming talent !

He has done two incredible short movies :" Au petit matin" and especially "Fotografick" and his first movie is released later this year "Frontères":yay:

I was vaguely interested by the project ,i'm not even a Hitman fan. it's a very good game that said, i like the mood ,the look of the game especially , but i'm not a gamer .

but, there, now i am greatly hyped :hyper:

I see you beat me to it. But yeah now its officially. Should be cool. He could be a breakout star before its released with him having a few films out this year including him being the bad guy in the latest Die Hard movie.

This is the guy from the new Jennifer Garner movie, right?

Gens Talks His Plans For "Hitman"
Posted: Friday January 26th 2007 12:35am
Source: Allocine
Author: Garth Franklin

French director Xavier Gens talked to Allocine recently about his plans for the film adaptation of Eidoe video game series "Hitman".

First up will be dark and violent along "Robocop" lines rather than "a fun popcorn movie like The Transporter".

Emphasis will be placed on the loneliness of the hero and his quest for identity, along with a violent and dark narrative.

The atmosphere of the game will be closely followed. Score will be orchestral and operatic in nature and photography inspired largely by Robert Richardson's work for Scorcese's "Casino".

Well he is saying all the right things:up:

Let's not forget that this guy was the killer (or one of them) in Scream 2. And he went pretty psycho at the end. I liked his performance in that, as well as the Girl Next Door.

I'm interested to see how he plays this role.

Awesomeness. RoboCop kicks ass!

He's ok. Seems a little 'Mtv-ish' to me, but i guess that's the audience that plays those games, so hey. I too would have preferred the Pretender guy....

Sure :yay: (even if i'm a little late :woot: lol ;) )

Well ,imagine a cross between paul Veroheven , Darren Aronofky and giallo movies.:hyper:

Xavier Gens movies are intelligent, sensible ,poetic ,and ,moody ,tense ,kinetik , violently visceral and gore

Bise
Xavier

Xavier continue to come on Allo ciné from times to times to give us infos:yay:

so he says that:

-The shooting will begin March 19 in Bulgaria.
-he can't talk much about the movie obviously ,but promise that in the first minutes of the movie there will be
some machete hits
:o
-and he reaffirms that he wants the movie to be dark and without concessions.

I will keep you updated :yay:
