One name needs to be mentioned here.

Gerald Butler.

Who?

The guy from 300.

Now, if you would've mentioned that same name before the release of 300, most people would have no idea who you're talking about. Once you mentioned 300 and that he played the King, everyone knows.

He was an unknown before hand, for an unknown franchise, and look how much money that movie has made and the popularity.

:)

Butler is a seasoned actor though and isn't a complete unknown, also 300 was about the battle and the story and the technique that was used to film it and make it unique, with Hitman the Agent 47 role is by far the most important thing about the movie

I'm getting tired of people randomly throwing out Butler's name. He was in one movie where he was badass and all of a sudden, oh he's so awesome. He's still the dude from Phantom of the Opera to me.
I'm a major Timothy Olyphant fan and I really think he can pull this off. He's an incredibly talented actor and I'm sure that we'll get a decent Agent 47. Now whether the script is in order is another story.

Some set pics from Bulgaria where they're filming the Russia scenes:cwink:

He suits the bald head, bit pretty-ish for 47 though

Hmm... I don't know... he kinda lacks something. He looks a bit too nice, have to jugde again when we get to see his mean look.

Agent 47 in one of the games was referred to (in the cool little newspaper bit at the end of each level) as Bald, yet pretty, Olymphant fits the bill so far. The thing is, he doesn't look bald as Agent 47 is meant to, he looks like his head is shaved

Thanks for ruining it. He looks nothing like 47 and doesn't even have the menancing appearance that's needed to pull off the role. In my opinion they should've casted the man they used as a model for 47.

He does the voice, looks like him, and is a classically trained staged actor and a wonderful film actor. All this shows is Hollywood has a way of not doing the smart thing and hiring someone who is too pretty, too nice looking, and doesn't have what it takes to play 47.

Bateson should've been 47. End of story.

I still would've loved Micheal T. Weiss in the role of Agent 47.

Just imagine him bald and with a striped tie.

While he looks a little to nice facially i think he's a very good proven actor and will pull the role off,i still prefer him over the others we have seen mentioned in here

don't see him as Hitman, but i DEFINATELY can see him as Max Payne :cwink:

in fact, he is still my number one choice for Payne

This man looks terrible. He looks like an 18 year old kid going to the prom, an abercrombie reject.

When did Uwe Boll get the rights to the Hitman!

I hated Vin Diesel and hated the fact that Statham was constantly mentioned. Olymphant is not that good of an actor in my opinion. He doesn't have what it takes to play the cold, detached, and vicious killer that Agent 47 is.

Bateson is a trained stage actor and a wonderful film actor. His face is used as the model for 47, he does the voice, and he campaigned strongly for the role only for Hollywood to be stupid once again and screw him over.

This is one film I'll be avoiding because they just messed it up. You say you need a known name for Hitman? Since when? Hitman isn't Spider-Man, Batman, or some big action film with loads of CGI. They could've hired Bateson, wrote a great script, and went ahead with the project.

It's not like they need a lot of money to make a Hitman film anyways. Since the overall concept requires no CGI at all.

They want a hit and are spending decent coin on this, they want someone who will appeal, you like this other guy which is cool but it doesn't seem to me like he has that star quality that attracts the mainstream who don't care about the games..............don't see the movie if you so wish but i'd personally at least wait for a trailer before judging to harshly,i myself think he looks young and to pretty but i want to see him act the part before i judge, you seem to be to caught up in your wish for the other guy to have gotten the role to even give Olyphant a chance.

Because Bateson is a stage actor, a great film actor, does the voice, and his face is used as the model for Agent 47. This is a guy who campaigned strongly for the role and desired to do it, only for the studio to screw him over and not even give him a chance.

Yes, the general audience may not care about the games, but Olymphant is not going to do this character justice. If anything, from the sounds of things, they're going to turn this into a typical cliche action film with little to no development and 47 will be a comedic character.

Olymphant cannot play the cold, detached, and vicious killer that 47 is. He doesn't look the part, doesn't sound the part, and will ruin it as far as I'm concerned. I remember at one point wanting Christian Bale because the scene in the bathroom where he was about to kill Luis was 47ish looking, but at that point, everyone was having Bale play every single popular character they could think of. But Bateson will always be 47 for me since he does the voice, his face is used as the model, and the film "God Moves In Mysterious Ways" shows that he could do 47 in a live action format.

I do not see Olymphant pulling off this downright cold look at all. Bottom line? This film will suck and Uwe Boll might as well have directed it.

Ok i won't bother discussing it with you again

That's fine. I'm just contributing to this thread and offering an intelligent opinion.

Anyways, I don't know if it's true or not, but to anyone who is familiar with the game and knows the story does the script provide the backstory of 47? Does the script go into detail on how he's a genetic clone and was trained almost like a cyborg to kill?

I sincerely hope they introduce the concept of how different cells from different scientists, criminals, and so forth played a part in his creation and on how he's the perfect clone. Here is what I'm talking about. When I play Silent Assassin or Blood Money I get almost a Bourne Idenity or Bourne Ultimatium feel to it. However, when push comes to shove, his past as a genetic clone is important and needs to be established.

He's not just another Hitman. He's almost like a damn machine and I'm not fond of this possible love interest either. Yes, he may spare somebody from time to time, but as a whole, he never feels any kind of emotion for anyone since he's so detached from the world and humanity in general. He is alone and will always be alone, which is what makes him such a unique character. I just don't see Olymphant pulling off the role well enough to be 47.

47's "Five Fathers", the men whose DNA went into his creation, were:

Dr. Otto Wolfgang Ort-Meyer: A discredited German scientist living in Romania, whose radical theories were deemed insane by his peers. Ort-Meyer believed that genetic recombination and human cloning could be used to produce a perfected version of the human speices, superior in strength and mind and unburdened by conscience. His ultimate goal (unbeknown to his associates) was to create an army of flawless and unquestioningly obedient supermen with which to repopulate the world. 47 managed to eradicate his next line of clones and subsequently broke the Doctor's neck.

Lee Hong: A Chinese crime lord, he eventually rose to head of the Red Dragon triad, becoming the most powerful ganglord in Hong Kong. Even in his advanced age, Lee Hong proved extremely spry and dexterous with a sword.

Pablo Belisario Ochoa: A notorious Latin American drug dealer, Pablo formed his own drug cartel by violently eliminating his rivals. However his methods earned him great animosity, and eventually he was eventually forced to flee to a compound deep inside the Colombian rainforest. Pablo was able to withstand countless gunshots while under the influence of a drug-fueled psychotic rage. Pablo appears to be heavily-inspired by Tony Montana in "Scarface".

Franz Fuchs: A former member of the Hitler Youth, Franz always resented the collapse of Fascism. He developed a career as a professional terrorist-for-hire, organizing attacks such as the attempted chemical bombing of the G7 leadership. He worked closely with a partner, his brother Fritz.

Arkadij "Boris" Jegorov: A staunch anti-Communist, Boris became a worldwide arms dealer who smuggled weaponry for his older brother, Russian mafia boss Sergei Zavorotko. At the time of his death, he even attempted to traffic in nuclear weapons. Boris was ruthless enough to shoot his own men and risk a nuclear explosion in order to escape capture.

If it was/is to be done right, I'd want the first Hitman film to be about his creation, his training, and him escaping from the lab after killing several guards and disgusing himself thus coming into contact with the Agency.

The Second Hitman film could be the Silent Assassin storyline. He comes into contact with a priest, the priest is kidnapped, and he comes to the realization that he'll never live in a peaceful world and that he is "not of this world" as he puts it.

The third film could be the Blood Money storyline that introduces other clones from rival agencies that are out to kill 47. I will say that I'd love to see the ending of Blood Money used in live action format. 47 in a white suit rising from the bed and owning everyone with silverballers? That would truly be an amazing thing to see on the big screen.

I just don't have faith in them doing this story right at all, and if it makes me a whiney fanboy then so be it.

Never said you weren't,i was just saying that i won't waste anymore thread space debating you since you have clearly made up your mind and i can respect that even if i don't agree with it.
