Latest horror movie I saw was The Collection. I thought it was good. The trap at the nightclub was pretty gruesome.

I liked the character of Arkin. Isnt it kind of rare to have a lead male protagonist in horror movies? Its usually women so this was a little refreshing to see.

Hatchet 7.5/10
Hatchet II 7.0/10
Hatchet III 7.5/10

I really enjoyed the Hatchet films, they were fun to watch and the kills were bloody visceral.

No film tonight because I spent 19 hours in the city due to a training, comic books and Machete Kills. Gonna try and double up tomorrow, or Monday.

Day 12: Dagon - 7.5/10

Dagon is a crazy flick.

Just watched Trick R Treat and An American Werewolf in London. Always a good time.

Bout ready to give Halloween 3 another chance. Never dug it much but it's been a few years, hopefully I can get into more this time. Soundtrack is rad. By any chance does anyone know what DVD or Blu ray has the best version of Friday The 13th: The New Blood?

I watched Midnight Movie last night. While it wasnt exactly high art, I mostly enjoyed it as a fun, cheesy ride.

Due to my schedule, I rarely have time to slide in a horror film (although on the week of Halloween, I will put time aside.) Lately, I have been watching a diluted form of horror: Scooby Doo: Mystery Inc. The writing is good and design is excellent: the backgrounds bleed atmosphere.

Did anyone else watch the premiere of the new American Horror Story this week? My wife and I got around to watching it last night. Looks like it could be really good this year, especially I it doesn't get too crazy like last year, when they tried to fit in as many horror/sci fi elements a possible.

I watched Joe Dante's The Hole. I thought it was good. For a kids movie it was pretty damn creepy.

Anyone have Hellraiser on Blu? I wanna know what the best version is. Same for Hellbound.

Yesterday's picks were:

Invasion of the Body Snatchers ('56)
The Conjuring
Evil Dead 2.

I found The Conjuring to be enjoyable yet not as great as most people made it out to be, I love James Wan's direction and I loved that the film was set in the early 70's overall I'd give it a 7.5/10. The movie had great atmosphere, acting and a few good scares but the demons and haunting stuff was pretty fun of the mill to me expect for the chair flip in the basement in the end I loved that.

I think that because The Conjuring is a Hollywood studio Horror film and was actually well done has caused people to lose their minds and think it's one of the best Horror films ever. It IS good for what it is (well acted, well directed etc), but it isn't even in my top 10 Horrors of the year.

After reading reviews, this is the one I bought(Anchor Bay release). It was released roughly 2 years before the copy with the traditional picture from the movie posters, with Pinhead holding the cube, with blue background and shows more of his body. The one I bought could have better picture quality, but it was slightly better than the other release. On Blu-ray.com they gave the Anchor Bay one(in link below) 3.5/5, while the later release only got 3/5. Probably not too much of a difference but I'll take whichever one is slightly better.

As for Hellbound, they only have one release and the picture quality was a 3/5. They did release it in a double pack with the first film, but the first film is the one with the weaker PQ.

Or you know, some people genuinely think it's one of the best horror movies ever.

Damn. I was hoping this wasn't the best one. That cover art is hideous.

EDIT: I want the man who did this!

:applaud Great use of that quote.

I'm hoping they release it down the line with a better transfer, but a horror movie being released on Blu-ray 3 times that isn't the Exorcist or the original Halloween is not likely.

I'm just glad I'm not a Blu-ray snob(not saying you are Blitzkrieg). I find the PQ to be fairly good to where it doesn't bother me. I can't believe some of the people on the Blu-ray forums, they expect every film to have perfect PQ and AQ. They ***** about the littlest of things. While we're on the subject of transfers, I still stand by what I've said in the past on those forums about Edge Enhancement not being all that noticeable unless you pause the movie. Batman Begins is supposedly one of the worst offenders but I still can't really notice it when the movie is actually playing.

Speaking of Clive Barker and Blu Ray, any release date for The Nightbreed Cabal cut?

I figured even the best version of Hellraiser wouldn't be remotely near the quality of the Coppola Restoration, but I just wanted to get the best one possible. As long as it looks better than a DVD, I'll take it.

It's being released by Scream Factory and they have an estimated date of summer 2014. That is one that I'm really excited for.

Nice. Yeah, looking forward to that one. Heard about it for way too long.

Went to the Skyview Drive In in Illinois last night for a fantastic double feature of Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street. There was a really good turn out for the Halloween show which the past few years has been pretty empty.

Hilariously the people parked directly in front of me were very clearly fooling around throughout the run time of Halloween. Later, the man parked next me fell asleep with his door open snoring loudly during Nightmare on Elm Street.

They learn nothing!

And people would be entitled that opinion. In MY opinion, anyone who thinks that The Conjuring is one of the best Horror movies ever would have to have lost their mind. That is the great thing about opinion, everyone has their own. Personally, I think it is a pretty good movie...way over-hyped by people who were shocked to see a Horror movie that didn't outright suck in a theater.

I believe that domestically, The Conjuring is the 6th biggest Horror movie of all time, and I don't think that the quality of the film matches that box office (nor does the quality of many of the other top Horror films of all time. Van Helsing is the 9th biggest Horror film ever???? What Lies Beneath is the 4th biggest???)

That story literally just made me laugh out loud, hilarious and the two things I'd love to see at a screening of those two films together.
