What are your guys thoughts on Night of the Living Dead, the 90's remake with Tony Todd?

Yeah that was actually the first Dead movie I saw, without really paying attention I didn't know it was directed by Savini until much later.

I love Dawn of the Dead though. The Gonk song at the end in the shopping mall is brilliant!

I wish we had the pleasure of anticipating one of our favorite horror icon's return to the big screen around this time of the year, particularly Michael Myers. I used to get so pumped every time a new Halloween movie was coming to theaters.

Me too, but unfortunately have been disappointed in the last 3 occasions upon seeing a Halloween movie at the cinema. (Resurrection, RZ Halloween and RZH2)

I would have loved to have been around for the original's release though.

The third Candyman is definitely the worst of the trilogy and I'm not surprised there was no fourth.

I like to pretend it doesn't exist. At least farewell to the flesh is watchable.

The only good things about those sequels are Tony Todd's performance.

Agreed. Or at least something Halloween horror themed. Carrie and the new Childs Play are pretty much it for the month.

Recorded Halloween last night and watching it now for the first time in a really long time. Amazing how long they let the tension build in this movie. I can't imagine a slasher movie being made today that let's the story develop for so long without filling it with gratuitous kills (which I enjoy, but you forget how satisfying the anticipation is vs the immediate "gratification" of most horror films).

That's one of the reasons I really enjoy the original Halloween, that whole sense of impending doom. You don't know when he's going to strike, but when he does watch out!

Halloween was and still is the BEST slasher film of all time IMO, nothing has gotten close to topping it and how funny it is that Carpenter himself still doesn't even think it's that great.

Same here. Too bad Resurrection & Rob Zombie had to totally f**k up the entire franchise.

I'd even settle for more Friday The 13th or Nightmare On Elm Street movies. Unfortunately Michael Bay had to f**k up those franchises too.

Very true. Although the original Friday The 13th does come in a close second.

Best thing to come out of Zombie's movies were the gag reels.

Malcolm McDowell was hilarious.

I liked it up to the very end. I liked how Barbra wasn't all weak & useless like she was in the original, but I don't like the whole "They're us, we're them" speech in the end.

I just watched Tremors and realized I forgot how much fun it was. Also saw Cube for the first time. That was really good despite the convenient plot twists.

The Halloween franchise was completely screwed long before Zombie came on the scene. Most of that series is awful and it makes pretty much no sense that there is more than one Michael Myers centric film.

Finally watched The Howling. It was pretty good, definitely one of the better werewolf movies I had seen. It was a bit slow to get going but the plot definitely picks up. There are some pretty good transformation effects, as well as some questionable stopmotion animation. Well worth checking out.

Its my favourite horror film of all time. I really hope they reboot the series either for next year (which would be ideal as Halloween falls on a Friday) or within the next 2-3 years. Its part of the reason I keep thinking/hoping they'll do a straight to DVD film like Curse of Chucky. Get someone in that's closely connected or loves the product and give us what would hopefully be a decent film. I actually think Halloween would benefit from a lower budget. If they do decide to do a reboot I don't think they need to do an origin again at all, they could Incredible Hulk it.

Doesn't he? Haha doesn't shock me but then again there aren't many directors who are satisfied with their final product.

I love Tremors. I was so excited when it got a short run at a local discount theater a few years back. I got to go see it (and convince a couple people who had never seen it) for like $3.

Tremors is a great monster movie series although by the time it got to the fourth I just didn't like it. The first three I like, especially the first sequel. It's more light-hearted and comical but the antics of Burt Gummer can't be topped.

It most certaintly is worth checking out, Joe Dante's early work is his best. I definitely think The Howling is easily in the top 5 best werewolf films of all time hands down, has such a great atmosphere about it, and all of the werewolf lore is great.

The tranformation scene rivals AAWIL for obvious reasons (Rick Baker started it and left it to a protege to go do AAWIL) and reminds me of how truly stunning practical effects can be, it's a truly frightening scene.

Halloween is indeed fantastic. However, as for it being the "greatest" slasher movie of all time, I think that Psycho, Texas Chain Saw Massacre (the original), and Nightmare on Elm Street can give it a run for it's money. Also, I just saw Dog Soldiers last night. It may be the most ridiculously entertaining monster movie that I've ever seen.
