I love that film. Before it was released my friend and I went to a horror movie convention in Burbank(LA) and right when you entered the hall they had a life size model of one of the werewolves. I wanted to take it home. :csad:
 
Dog Soliders is the BEST modern werewolf film imo, it's in my top 5 of all time actually I don't think anything else has topped it since.

Halloween is classic but my favorite slasher film is Scream.

Continuing my TCM marathon and just finished watching The Next Generation.

The less said, the better. Not even bats**t crazy McConaughey and his his go-go gadget leg could save that piece of crap.

Now onto TCM 2003...
 
The remake imo rivals the original, enjoy Starlord it's a fun time!
 
R. Lee Ermey is fantastic in the movie. But please, for your own sake, don't watch TCM: The Beginning. It's a grotesque piece of garbage and a cinematic kick in the balls.

It most certaintly is worth checking out, Joe Dante's early work is his best. I definitely think The Howling is easily in the top 5 best werewolf films of all time hands down, has such a great atmosphere about it, and all of the werewolf lore is great.

I like how they present the transformation through bubbling, which is quite different from other presentations which focus on stretching. The scene where the severed hand transforms is amazing! The claw kind of deflates and reinflates as hand and its done with very few cuts.

Also I saw Robert Picardo's name in the credits, I had never heard his name in connection to the film. I spent the whole running time looking for him. Turns out he's the first werewolf in the film! Completely unrecognizable, both due to the makeup he were even in human form as well as being super young at the time. I met him last year when the St. Louis Science Center invited him to speak for an evening last year. He had a number of great anecdotes not just from his time on Star Trek Voyager but from throughout his career and I really wish I had known at the time that he had been in the Howling. I surely would have asked something about it.

Sinister 9.5/10 I realize that this may be too high of a score, but my God this film was nearly perfect in my eyes. Yeah, it's got some jump scares, but there is some truly macabre and visceral scares to be had in this film. Wow, wow, wow.

My rule of movie marathons, especially horror movie franchises is to watch every one no matter how bad they are.

I've already endured The Next Generation so I think I'll be okay with The Beginning. :yay:

Picardo's been in a couple horror flicks (976-Evil, Gremlins 2,Masters of Horror, Tales from the Crypt, Munchies, Legend, etc), iirc. he's not just the first werewolf in the film. he's also the one that gets scalded by acid and has the most memorable transformation. love that movie. :')

i like the original Black X-Mas more than most of those.
 
Finally watched Curse of Chucky, really enjoyed it, loved how they tied it into the first film. Although I wasn't that keen on the trust at the end. The film was highly enjoyable, probably my favourite Chucky film.

My favourite Romero movie.

I'm almost at the end of the TCM marathon after just finishing The Beginning. One left to go and it's Texas Chainsaw 3D. Those 3D titles are stupid, especially if you're watching it in 2D like I have to.
