I liked Rob Zombies House of 1000 corpses but the rest of his movies were terrible and way over the top on everything.
I loved house of 1000 corpses and The devils rejects and enjoy his first Halloween despite a few minor gripes that I have with it.

Everything else he's made is pretty much ****.
Lords of Salem was a huge disappointment to me.

Curious to see what he does outside of the horror genre with that hockey movie.
*Edit*
Apparently he dropped the Hockey movie in favor of doing another horror movie.:funny:

I am not a fan of House...but, I love DR + his Halloween films. In terms of comics, I enjoyed Baron Von Shock and Spookshow International.

Lords of Salem wasn't a huge disappointment for me, it was a complete pile of garbage. I was beyond disappointed. My wife and I just shook our heads when it was over. House and Devils Rejects are the only films I like. I hope his next film is actually good.

House is good, Devil's Rejects is so good even Ebert gave his approval. I can't stand anything else, and didn't even bother with Lords of Salem. I'll wait until he gets decent reviews from another film before I waste anymore money on his films.

Black Sunday, which is on netflix instant view, was awesome.

I think Rob Zombie's first Halloween film was amazing. One of my favorite horror films of all time. And, IMO, one of the best horror remakes.

It did reinvent the character a bit, but it did it well imo. And as far as horror remakes, it sets an example others should follow.

I think one of the NoES reboot's biggest problem was the lack of imagination when it comes to dreams.

I actually liked the dream sequences. It's just the reinventing of Freddy's history that I didn't like.

That's true. Where before they had comic book superheroes and giant snakes eating people, now we have... the past with a guy in his speedos, the past some more, a school and the boiler room.

Did you ever actually watch the original movie? I mean the ORIGINAL original. Not part 3, 4, 5, and 6, but the only one WITHOUT a number after it? The dreams were fairly basic in that movie too. Freddy chased you into a boiler room. Freddy killed you in the boiler room. You die in real life. That was it. I liked that they went back to basics.

Freddy vs Jason did Freddys origin in 2-3 minutes and it was awesome!

Out of all the horror movies I've seen I think that was the one I was most looking forward to, just because it had been teased for years then postponed, rewritten, ect. until everyone thought it would never come out. It wasn't the best but it was stupid fun. :D

What the hell have you been smoking, and where can I get some?

Of course I did. That was the ORIGINAL movie. No one expected anything from it like what we did by the time Dream Warriors rolled around, never mind 30 years later when we can go CGI like Avatar. The first was still pretty good and still has one of the most iconic deaths in the series funny enough with one of the biggest actors of today Johnny Depp.

Am I the only one who finds NOES 2 to be the worst of the bunch? I mean the idea is great and some of the story is good but overall it's just not that great.

I love ANOES Part II and don't get why it gets **** on so much.

Most people actually dislike Part 2. I like it a lot better than most people do. While it certainly has its flaws, I like the darker and more serious tone of the film. Freddy doesn't start his bad puns and one liners until Part 3, which for me is the film that nukes the proverbial fridge. Every movie after that gets worse and worse. So for me, any Elm Street movie that lacks, or at least cuts way back on, the movie rates higher for me than those that do.

If I had to guess it's because we came to see Freddy murder people in interesting ways and not to see some guy start realizing that he may be gay. :p

As per a few interviews it was apparently intentionally written that way too.

Actually, I think the problem was people were expecting to see Freddy killing people in their dreams, not possessing a teenage boy's body. Also, much of what Freddy does in the real world makes little sense, since he's not invading anyone's dreams (causing the hotdogs to explode on the table, causing the water in the pool to boil, etc). The strong homosexual undertones were also probably considered very off putting. But again, I liked the darkness of the story. No silly one liners or bad puns, no superheroes or video games, etc.

I dunno. I watched 2 after seeing most of the others so it probably colored my feelings on how a Freddy movie worked. :p I also haven't seen it in quite some time so I'm probably due for a rewatch.

That's probably the problem. I keep reading the opinions of Elm Street fans on websites like this one, b**ching and moaning that "Freddy should be cracking jokes. He's always been cracking jokes. That's who Freddy is." That's a trend that didn't start until Part 3, and continued to get worse as the franchise progressed. Now, any time Freddy doesn't make a wise crack, people say "That's not how Freddy's supposed to act."

But in the first two movies, that's exactly how Freddy behaved. He scared the s**t out of people in their nightmares, then killed them. No wise cracks. No turning into superheroes. No killing people in video games. No trapping victims in roach motels. So in my mind, THAT is how he should behave.

I really liked New Nightmare and he wasn't cracking jokes. He was more an unstoppable force than anything and it was great. I love NOES 6 just because it was the first I ever saw and it is so cheesy. It's a good bad movie.

Should he be more terror based? Yes. Should he not be a cheeseball? Yes, but a joke or some dark humor every now and then isn't bad. Even the first one had "I'm your boyfriend now Nancy." and the phone tongue thing. That was well timed.

Every now and then, sure. Just not EVERY time. Like the "I'm your boyfriend now" line. It wasn't overly campy or silly, but still darkly humorous. But that's the only example in the whole movie.

This issue is that he's now well known for his wisecracking dark humor. I don't mind it but it does get annoying after a while. The whole sequence with the deaf guy (Carlos?) in NOES6 still makes me laugh though.

No...no way...just no...but...what?

I would actually say Dream Warriors is my favorite NOES movie. The original and New Nightmare rounding out the top3.

I'm a big fan of New Nightmare. I think I like it more than any of the other sequels to the original series overall.

They really need to make another Freddy vs. Jason. Not only is it the best of all of those versus movies, as far as I can keep track of, but it also combines the best of both series and manages to make Jason Voorhees into something of an anti-hero (simply driven by the haunting visions of his mother, conjured up by Freddy). I'm happy to see that they're bringing Jason back in a television series, if it's HBO especially, I think it'll be great. Can't wait to check that out.
