The Horror Thread - Part 4

Right....it would have to be footage shot by the killer or someone with him/her...or it would have to be done entirely in some location with cameras all around, like Camp Dread (which was NOT found footage) where it was a group of people at a Crystal Lake type place in the woods filming a reality show where a killer was offing them. It strains the concept too far for the killer to travel around town, getting caught on a bunch of victims webcams or something, all of which happen to be recording.

I just hope that 'Friday the 13th' goes back to basics.

No silly gimmicks please.

Still surprised no extended Halloween '78 blu ray in that set...

They are going to include the TV edits which surprised me. I think the first or second time I ever saw Halloween was the TV edit. I can remember Loomis going in Myer's jail cell and in blood something is written about Laurie which was a retcon because it said she was his sister or something.

Is there extra footage to properly extend Halloween anyway?

Anyone see Halloween 6 Producer Cut?

I think I've seen the P Cut back when I thought Thorn was really cool; probably watched it on YouTube.
The only thing that I really remember is Loomis becoming Michael's guardian at the end.

Not really.
A few different kills, more Thorn talk, Michael is the father of Jamie's baby, and at the end, Michael Myers is subdued by magic rocks.
. It's not some great alternate version of the movie, but something worth checking out if you're a big fan of the series because for so long it has been like a lost ark. I truly appreciate the fact that it's finally getting an official release.

Just rented evil dead. never saw any of them, but always seeing you all discuss them. Ill check it out tonight

watching Hellraiser 2... never seen it before, only seen the original. i'm convinced this is the most evil franchise ever ahahha.

The first one is great but it leaves me feeling horrible about myself ahahah

Hellraiser 2 is a damn solid sequel but I don't like it as much as I used to. Mainly because of Dr. Channard when
he becomes a Cenobite
and starts making silly noises and yells.

The remake is pretty good for a remake (since most of them suck), but it has nothing on the original trilogy IMO. The second Evil Dead remains my favorite, but I really like both the original and Army of Darkness as well.

I got Hellraiser 2 free on DVD with a newspaper a few years ago. I like it more than the first film.

Just watched Bride of Frankenstein last night. Hands down one of the best horror films ever made.

The only version I have of Halloween '78 is the extended cut with the shot for TV footage. Actually, I like that version better. I felt like the added scenes of Doctor Loomis really helped add to the story. And the scene when Michael followed Linda to Laurie's house was well done too (didn't add anything to the story really, but it didn't take anything away either). And without the removal of the scenes that they were shot to replace, it really works.

i don't know what got into me. but i watched, both, The Curse of Michael Myers and Halloween Resurrection over the weekend (masochism?). i think that i wanted to give them a second chance/find something about them to like. i failed on finding anything about Curse to like. i like Paul Rudd. but this wasn't work that i think he'd be proud of. i wonder who would be considered more messed up; Tommy Doyle or Tommy Jarvis? anyways, i think that Halloween Resurrection might have been slightly more watchable if they had removed the audience. by that, i mean engineering things so that the reality tv show contestants think they are being live streamed somewhere but aren't. i think the movie would have been helped by having Busta Rimes and the rest of the tv crew killed off towards the beginning. i think they made it goofy. and the subplot of the party guests watching all of it drew me right out out of movie/got in the way of any scares.

I like the Producer's Cut of Curse a hell of a lot better. I love it if only for them making an soundtrack closer to the original, instead of that heavy metal garbage they threw into the theatrical cut.
As for Resurrection, I agree on some of your points. Something that really bothered me, in a deleted scene, instead of Busta Rhymes saving the main girl from the house, it was the computer boyfriend. So, why hadn't they met in person yet if they both apparently lived in Haddonfield?
Also, I know JLC stipulated she'd return if she died in Resurrection, but they really should have saved her for the end and killed Michael and her for good, instead of that tacked on BS opening they did.

Like you I find no really redeeming qualities in either movie.

My biggest problem with Resurrection is that it was made at all. H20 had the perfect . . . PERFECT . . . ending. Yet they had to mess it up because Mustapha Akkad just couldn't let go of the Halloween cash cow. Even though Halloween had gone from milking a cash cow to beating a dead horse a LONG time ago. He should have just let it end with H20.

I forgot to mention that Danielle Harris is briefly seen (not heard) in the P Cut, as Jamie Lloyd. She apparently filmed that one scene before the contract didn't pan out or something.

Never seen it myself TBH. It is on my "To Watch List" though. Maybe this Halloween (the best time of year to rediscover great, and not-so-great, horror films).

You have to watch the first one to really appreciate how much the Monster and Frankenstein progress as characters in the sequel. You cost yourself dearly by only watching one of them. I'll make the comparison of them being similar to Godfather 1 and 2; the real conclusion of the story comes at the end of the sequel.

Oh, I've seen the first one. I really felt sorry for the monster. He wouldn't have become a killer had Igor not tortured and abused him the way he did.

problem is, as Thundarr astutely pointed out, that boat sailed with H20. that was the perfect ending; the hunted finishing off the hunter. i kind of wish Jamie Lee Curtis had blown them off. far as i'm concerned, her story was over the moment she picked up that axe and decided to face her demons. i wasn't aware of the deleted scene. i was kind of wondering where they were going with that; having the "internet dating" guy involved at all. Busta Rhymes clearly thought that he was in some sort of spoof film; why else would you pretend to use kung fu on someone(?).
