Possible unpopular opinion regarding Rob Zombie, I prefer House of a 1000 Corpses to The Devil's Rejects. Don't ask me why, I just do. 
Watched the holiday themed b-movie 'Silent Night' on TV last night. I believe it's a very loose remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night (in that it only has a couple of scenes and characters in common), but never having seen the original I can't compare the two. I wasn't expecting much but I actually enjoyed it. It was very tongue-in-cheek and actually made me laugh a few times and there was some inventive deaths sprinkled throughout. Recommended if you're not looking for anything too taxing to watch.

I don't think any of the killer Santa movies work because they always look insane and deranged. Wouldn't it be way more scary if the killer Santa actually looked like the nice, puffy cheeked, jolly Santa?

Krampus and A Christmas Horror Story are probably the two best. There's like 3 others with another couple on the way, but most of them look to be about SYFY quality.

Well I just finished watching Sinister starring Ethan Hawke as part of my 31 Days of Horror films. Needless to say, it put me at unease, I think it was the music that unnerved me the most.

I watched that one on Netflix last summer I think. Very creepy. Still waiting for the sequel to come on Netflix.

There's at least a half dozen of them out there. Once the big. Krampus movie hit theatres (or was scheduled to) a ton of direct-to-video movies about Krampus came out too. Likely most of them look like made-for-TV movies at best. But they're out there.

Don't expect much, it's not an awful film, it retreads a lot, and the twists aren't that good. The videos this time around aren't as disturbing, and the ones that are are hampered by obvious CGI. I'd still give it like a 5/10 in terms of horror, but not nearly as good as the first.
On another note, I bought the complete TV series of Friday the 13th. I remember having a similar reaction to it as I did Halloween III as a kid, "Where's Jason?". However I now love Halloween III, but I've never given this a shot so I picked it up for $35.

Finally getting the chance to see Bennedict in Boyle's Frankenstein in under thirty minutes! Beyond pumped. Anyone else going or already went? Although not a movie it is in movie theaters.
ADDING: Just got out. BEST Frankenstein adaptation that I've ever seen! And I'm pretty sure I've seen all or most of the main ones. Just amazing.

Yeah, the music in that film during the video sequences is as freaky as hell. The videos are the best part for sure, I damn near had a heart attack during the 'lawnmower' one.
It's such a shame that the last quarter of the film didn't match up to the first three quarters. If it had it easily would be a horror classic.

I just mentioned this in the last movie watched thread but this is more appropriate, last year I watched Tales of Halloween for the first time and although I enjoyed it I was a little disappointed. However, watching it this year for only the second time I already enjoyed it more. Even the segments I weren't as keen on the first time round seemed better on this viewing. I really do think the movies greatest segment is 'Sweet Tooth' (that was the only one that blew me away on first viewing), it's such a scary but fun little tale and the mobster FX are great. Reminded me of Creepshow. Bad Seed is fantastic too, and it's mostly down to the music, it's a throwback to those 80s synth scores by John Carpenter.
I would love for Axelle Carolyn to get more directors to do a follow up, up they fo they should definitely give Adam Green a segment.

yep. I own it. kind of a strange movie. starts out as horror. I'm not sure what to call that ending.

This isn't horror (per se, it's family horror), but I figure many would come here leading up to Halloween. I suggest:
It's similar to Halloweentown and Camp Nowhere. It's about a town that has outlawed Halloween. Figure especially hypsters might really like it because of fan icon Christopher Lloyd. Just thought I'd post since a lot probably don't know about this cool Halloween themed film.

I've always loved Camp Nowhere, have it on DVD. Nice to hear someone else mention it haha.

I actually remember when this premiered, back on ABC Family (might have still been FOX Family at the time). they really hyped it up, and it wasn't bad. Been a long time since I've seen it.

Just saw Ouija: Origin of Evil yesterday and was actually impressed, it was easily a huge upgrade over the terrible original from 2014. Appropriately spooky in all the right places, and even had a lot of scenes that I didn't see coming that were downright chilling (like the [blackout]ghost in the mirror sticking its hand over the little girl's mouth to block her screaming, and then stuffing itself inside her through her mouth[/blackout]). It was also refreshing to see a horror movie that didn't have jump scares accentuated by musical stingers James Wan-style (from his Insidious days, at least). Instead there were a bunch of scenes that evoked "what the crap was that?!" and I suspect will be freeze-framed once the movie is available on disc. 
Question for anyone who's seen the movie: I read this article before I saw the movie (http://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/...s-hidden-connection-oculus-ouija-origin-evil/) so I went into it expecting to see a mirror in the basement, but I never saw one. I guess I must have missed it, anyone know which scene showed the mirror? I know there was the mirror on the ground floor, but didn't see one in the basement.
