Kevin Bacon really likes this character and has tried to do something with it for a long time. He even shot a pilot for a TV show and wasn't picked up. I think you can still find it somewhere.

It’s taken me 3 tries and 3 years and finally finished the purge 2013. Was boring and dull. Not sure how this got 4 sequels but will check those out

Ah yes, there are far better entries than the original. I think the first one might actually be my least favorite. But don't quote me on that because I've seen them only once.
