Also kids these days are made of sterner stuff, what would have bothered one generation doesn't phase another these days. You can get worse than a PG-13 movie on regular standard TV these days not to mention if they stay up late and watch what is on HBO late.
Ever since reading the screenplay, I've been excited about the film - BUT I was just wondering, is anyone else still getting used to the Zoolander type costuming though?
so let me see if i get this right. they are 1 month away from the premiere and they wont show the action in a tv spot? WOOOOW.
That's the way it was in the book, too.

Like I said before, they want to make the film appear family friendly.
I dont think it has anything to do with family friendly. I think it has everything to do with not showing anything from the games because thatll help keep the tension up to an all high since you wont be thinking oh thats in the trailer.
That is not how the studios sell their films. They don't care about things like that. Minor and occassionally big spoilers are routinely given away in trailers all the time. It's just how it is. The risk of not showing additional footage is way too high simply because you think someone might be spoiled in some way. The fact is, you can edit any footage to omit what you need. Just because you see someone take an arrow to the back doesn't mean that the film is ruined now. One could make the argument that showing primrose being selected for the games spoiled that specific plot point, but it was still in the trailer nonetheless. Whatever the studio is doing, it's not going to work. If the film makes money it will be on word of mouth and in spite of the marketing.

You know, I just can't help thinking of a Japanese movie that came out in 2000 called Battle Royale when I see anything about the Hunger Games. It's the exact same premise. Even the Battle Royale book preceded the Hunger Games book.
My problem with Battle Royale was that they just killed of random characters without fletching the characters out . You saying Hunger Games will kill off faceless characters but pretty much every character in Battle Royale was facelessWhat tension? Everyone knows that Jennifer Lawrence isn't going to be killed, but rather other nameless, faceless competitors from the Hunger Games. This isn't the kind of movie where you guess who will bite the dust, like the Japanese original movie that probably inspired it in the first place. Which leads to...
Yeah, I got the same feeling. I saw BR many years ago, and I was shocked by the unpredictability of that movie where every student could end up dead, and it pulled no punches. I know the author of The Hunger Games probably denied it, but the similarities are pretty big between the two properties, and too big to ignore or dismiss.
