The Huntsman: Winter's War

Yes, the variety of what is considered attractive in Hollywood is a much broader spectrum of shapes and sizes when it comes to actors, no question about that.

In fairness men are thought of first in those roles because there is a much greater percentile in these jobs in society, and while we are seeing more and more action roles for women in TV than in cinema they often are in a fantasy arena, but given that is the arena where the bulk of the money is these days then it's a strong start.

The 3rd paragraph is a mixture of stuff, as far as her missing out on the sequel, well both are so that seems fair if the studio wanted to distance themselves, but your point about whether she'll get another franchise opportunity while he has is a fair one, however I would say that I think there might well be more to it than that, Stewart is not ideal to build a franchise on as she's hopeless at promotion most of the time and I suspect over time she'd probably lean more towards the indie films anyway. However as far as issues with treatment go there certainly needs to be changes made, especially as regards to actresses age, Maggie Gyllenhaal's story was the tip of the ice berg and hopefully will lead to some sort of proactive measures taking place.
But why is that? It is the establishment of gender roles. Women weren't even allowed to be cops in most Western nations until the 20th century, and this before we get into the massive amount of sexism in that workplace.

This actually reminds me of the conversation about the doing away of girl and boy sections at Target. Stuff we teach kids, with film, with their toys, etc. We put kids in boxes early and it matters. It matters a lot.

Well I've never worked as a cop, fireman or in the military, but there are physical aspects that are simply genetic as to why there are a lot more men in those jobs, it's not as simplistic as just stamping sexism on the situation.

I do think it's unfair to leave out Stewart, who has been doing decent work as of late. She wasn't AWFUL in the first film, to be honest.

Has she ever been awful outside of Twilight to begin with? I've only seen her in Panic Room and she was good in that.

I think Twilight is a burden on all of the cast members except for Ana Kendrick. It's a long shadow.

She's always getting good notices in the indie stuff she does. With Pattinson I only ever saw him in Cosmopolis and that whole film was a mess, pretty hard to judge.

Oh no, I agree on having to past the test. That is actually a big thing over here when it comes to Seals and Green Berets, and I do not want test altered. But if you past the test, you past the test. Police stations have a long, bad history of sexism in the US. Not talking about letting women being police officers, but the work environment and general harassment they receive. Then there is your homeland:

But what I am getting is that as a society, many little boys are told they can be those things, while girls are encouraged to do what is considered to be typically female roles. Again, I am reminded by people who lost their minds about Target announcing they were doing away with gender based sections.

It's one of those things where you have to give them a few more years. Stewart is young enough to reinvent herself.

Actually, I think Daniel Radcliffe is doing a great job of reinventing himself as an actor. The only struggle with him is that he's 5'5.

I feel like she has been very good to great in everything she has been in outside of the majority of the Twilight flicks. I actually found her rather endearing in the first one. Then the movies just lost their minds. I have only seen pieces of the last two, thanks to cable.

But her recent work has been great.

Have you seen "What If"? Radcliffe proved a lot to me in that film. I also really like what Emma Watson is doing. A nice bit of variety.

I don't like Pattinson OR Stewart as actors. And that's based on their work OUTSIDE of Twilight. They're not horrible, just wholly unremarkable, to me. Radcliffe is worse, imo, but I do enjoy his off-screen personality, and he's always making a clear effort to get better so that's something.

Like I was just slapped in the face. I haven't been hurt this much since SPIDEY dissed Pacific Rim right to my face. :csad:

She's killing it in the indie scene. Definitely had the best career from the Twilight crew since the franchise ended.

Well then I'll keep my own thoughts on Pacific Rim silent for now so as not to kick a guy when he's down. :cwink:

I'd say she has the best acting career, though Anna has become the most popular. I adore them both. I was actually watching a Battlefront video today, and they mentioned the commercial with Anna, and they said she was from "Pitch Perfect and Twilight". I forget she was in those movies. :funny:

Yeah, I hadn't read those specific cases but I know that with cops there is an ugly old boys network frame of mind in play at various precincts/stations that needs eradicating. It often comes across like men who want their adult tree house to themselves.

I know and I am with you on that, it is important that at a young age we teach young boys not to see girls as secondary and for young girls to feel they have the freedom to be what they wish, and likewise to remove stigmas from certain things for young boys as well where they are told stupid stuff like "it's not manly" to like something like dancing for instance.

I've only see Deathly Hallows part 1 and I didn't like him in it much. But I thought he was great in Woman in Black.

Bless you. I don't think my heart could take it. I will just be happy in the knowledge that you are a Keira fan. :woot:

Pac Rim is for babies. Are you a baby?
Well, I was born from the Ooze. :o

It wasn't until Jack Ryan that I noticed Keira's under-bite.

Looking back at my comments, I see that they were completely out of line, and I apologize if I offended anyone.

Enough of this talk. Let's ' go back to admiring the 3 women and what's his name.
