The Hype Encyclopedia - Part 1

:hehe:

We need an entry on Bamf's and Kane's deathmatch that was actually pretty good. I remember a user actually creating multiple accounts and fibbed some votes for Kane.

Parker also posted it earlier in the thread. Sawyer. :o

:oldrazz:

Yep. :funny:

:lmao: That never ceases to crack me up. Also, Parker you go to college?

Guys, this needs to be expanded with a correction:

DHasselhoffLover - Formerly known as the moderator Lightning Strykez, the name change was the idea of the newly appointed Hype moderator, Kel. The idea was carried out by the newly appointed administrators, DOG LIPS and Hunter Rider. DHL was quoted as being extremely unhappy at the tyranny of the administrators, perhaps a bad joke gone wrong in some posters' eyes. DHL has since started a thread, revolting against DOG LIPS and Hunter Rider. Whether the change will be reversed or not is still shrouded in mystery.

I am not DHasselhoffLover...and I don't recall starting a thread of revolt against the administrators. What the hell? LOL :funny: And Kel had nothing to do with it...at least she wasn't to my knowledge by time I got involved. This is the true story:

DHasselhofflover was actually one of the biggest April Fool's Jokes played on the Hype Populace like...ever. DOG LIPS and I were both moderators at the time (he hadn't been promoted to Admin yet) and one late night around 1 or 2 AM we decided to access several dozen users' accounts and change their avatars to various near-pornographic photos of David Hasselhoff in various stages of shirtlessness and mullet-ness. We also flipped the users' names to DHasselhofflover as well so it was very hard to tell who the hell was who for an entire day.

And then DOG LIPS and I sat back and laughed at the pandemonium that resulted when everyone logged on the next morning. The term "Hoffed" was born that day.

Abaddon wouldn't have made such an error. :o

There are also a number of significant Hero Board-based Hype Scandals not covered in this Hypelopedia. For example, what about the huge nastiness of 2006 in the X-Men boards involving Gina Vs....well...everyone else? The Catwoman Boards (based on the Halle Berry movie of 2004) was like Marvel's Secret Wars live.

And this thread from 2009 marked the first time a Hype Mod had ever come out as gay. It was a breakthrough because it seemed to shock many young Hypesters who only viewed gay men as the effeminate stereotype. It went on to being one of the Hype's longest running thread discussions before the new Thread Manager System was introduced. I STILL get PMs and messages about it years later--especially from users who tell me that reading it helped them become more comfortable embracing their sexuality on-line and off:

Sorry that happened to you. I'm actually studying to become a lawyer and would like to specialize in sexual assault cases and help the victims in the case receive justice.

Is there an entry on the Parker Wayne/Sawyer rivalry? How it got started and why it's (allegedly) so entertaining?

An entry for that?? Pffff. If you want to read about success stories for online couples go to match.com. :o

Just don't go to the ones that end with serial killers, or in thier case, begins with.

Getting "Sentied"- when a poster quotes another poster's post, and edits it to twist their own words against them.

You're welcome, Sawyer :woot:

Hype Awards "D*** of the Year"/"Villain" on hiatus 2013 - Posters nominating display their dismay for the lack of d*** this year in the discussion thread, Marx explains how he and the rest of the Mods of the Hype decided to put it on hiatus after years of the award being taken seriously instead of being tongue in cheek, some took it too seriously over the years, especially with their choice for the year 2012

Oh great, my best chance to get even a nomination. Gone.

:cmad: why do you not hate me, Hype?! :hrt: I have blonde highlights in my hair...and my beard is naturally brown/red. Hate on me.

Only if you buy the coffee. :brucebat:

:woot:

Alright guys, I'm going to bed. Tell Sawyer, I'd hate to think he'd actually win any arguments with a savant of surpassing literary prowess such as myself just because I'm not replying to his inane babble. :whatever:

Night all!!

:o Check under your bed for Sawyer--I mean Boogeyman.

this isn't entirely accurate

CC getting sassy.... :hehe:

If only Aziz understood sass. :o

We need a final tally of how many "death by C. Lee" Hype suicides there have been throughout history.:hehe:

I'd like to make an entry for the Hype's first true neologism:

Ludicrulous- a portmanteau of "ludicrous" and "ridiculous", describing absurd hilarity up to (and in some cases exceeding) the point of disbelief.

The Hobbit thread is a perfect example of Ludicrulous.
