The Avengers The "I Believe In Mark Ruffalo!" Support Thread

He is a very good actor and he'll be great in this film. He's got my support. I'm glad they decided to not use War Machine or the Pyms. It would have been too much.

Remember Marvel: You have to go REALLY Big with this one!

I'm not a big fan of Norton's Banner but I think they could've done better than Ruffalo.

you arent blown away like RDJ as IM

That's because Banner is a totally different character than Tony Stark/Iron Man. He's more brooding, less flashy, so it's hard to be blown away like with RDJ as TS/IM.

this is exactly what Kevin Feige wants dont you all see?! he knew fans would give in and accept anything they decide... this is an outrage! who cares if Mark Ruffalo is a good actor, it's all about continuity damnit! why wasnt Kevin Feige booed off stage! WHY?!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Look at it this way, just tell yourself TIH didn't happen. Works for me with Batman and Robin.

I hope your not comparing TIH to Batman and Robin...:o TIH is a masterpiece compared to that pile of crap.

And it's hard to forget a movie that was as good as TIH was. Heck, I think I've watched TIH more often than Iron Man.

Throw me in the minority that wasn't impressed with The Incredible Hulk. It's a serviceable film, sure. But I honestly don't see what the fuss is all about.

And that I would agree with. What I was referring to was to simply consider that TIH not be part of this continuity, heck Avengers is probably being written as such so that there are no references to TIH at all, wouldn't surprise me.

I consider it just a big pile of 'meh'. It's kinda like Superman Returns, it's not a bad film, it just doesn't really do anything remarkable. Both those films felt like they got stuck in first gear.

i agree with boom yes his performance was good i would put him on par with bana's hulk and banner both good performances just one had a better overall movie

He better give us an amazing performance that tops anything we got in Incredible Hulk.

It's the only way I'll accept this as a 'good move' and not a desperate one.

Ruffalo is one of the more underrated actors in hollywood. It's really strange how he and Downey get along so well, and had so much fun working together, because Downey is apparently pretty conservative politically and Ruffalo is very liberal.

I don't see why that would be an issue, everyone has their political affiliation but it shouldn't affect how one gets along with someone else. I'm pretty conservative myself and I have liberal friends. Sometimes, you just gotta agree to disagree. :yay:

I agree. It wasn't a bad film. At times it was entertaining as hell. But I was never really pulled into it - particularly Norton's performance. Call me a heretic, but I found it boring and monotonous. It just seemed to me like he didn't give a **** (which is ironic, because he clearly loved the character). Too bad that didn't show for me.

I wouldn't call it a desperate move, but it wasn't done with the best intentions. Ruffalo was signed relatively quickly so he could appear at Comic-Con with the other cast. To me, it seems Marvel needed someone quickly and they were able to get Ruffalo locked in in time. I'm sure if Comic-Con was a ways off a different actor might have been chosen or more would have been considered.

True, I'm the same way as you. I just thought it was cool that Downey was one of the biggest supporters of Ruffalo having worked with him in Zodiac, dispite any differences they might have.

Yeah, it's hard to call it desperate, they were filling a casting call the same way as any movie would. There may have been some rush to fill the roll as they wanted to have this apperance at Comicon, but they had a pretty big casting list.

To me deperate is if Norton had backed out right before filming and the only guy availible was Jack Black.

I don't like the sound of that.

I would have rather they waited and got the right guy for the role instead of rushing to find a quick replacement for Norton before SDCC.

What makes you think Ruffalo isn't the right guy for the role?

Who else should they have picked?

Yeah people need to accept that between Bixby, Banna, and Norton, they all played the character differently, and heck every writer in the books has made him a little different.

Look at how many different guys have played Bond, or Dr. Who. They were all different, but we all accepted them as the character. Sure we have our favorites, but each of those actors broght something to the table.

All of these roles are going to be recast eventually. People should start getting used to that idea right now. Just think of it like the creative team changing in the comics.

All I can say is this point is for one - TIH movie was great, Marvel did a good job with that movie, for people to say they didn't like it or wasn't impressed, I don't know what you wanted. Second if Ruffalo is the new banner/Hulk, Marvel needs to establish him in the Marvel Movie universe before Avengers is released, have him appear in the Thor or Captain America movie in a minor role like they did with Downey at the end of TIH, or pump out a TIH 2 before The Avengers movie is released, heck bring it out in 2012 a couple of months before the Avengers movie, and have the end of TIH2 lead directly into the Avengers.

I'd prefer Norton, but atleast they picked a good actor for Banner. NOW KEEP THIS GUY MARVEL! If they recast Ruffalo, I'm done with Hulk in the movies.
